Hello. Yes, you can precompose the elements! Technically all the modules are already precomposed (ex “Module 1” is a precomp), but depending on what you’re specifically trying to achieve it shouldn’t be a problem, just stay conscious of the expressions and controllers set up so you don’t break the paths to where the expressions are directed to.

Sure, that color tint is happening from the “CC” layer within the main Module comp (for example, “Module 1”) on layer 3. Just click on the eye-icon and it will disable the tint, or feel free to tweak the curves within the Effect Controls panel: https://d.pr/i/WiaDEk

Hi, the neon for text seems to perfectly trace the original text, however, the neon for logo (imported graphics like an illustrator file) seem to become a bit squiggly. Is there a way to improve this?

Hello, it’s most likely due to the the sharp lines in your text vs the curved lines in your logo. When the product is creating the neon, it’s essentially transforming the vector graphics from illustrator into rasterized (pixelated) graphics.

The anti-aliasing could be effecting this as well, but my first thought is try making your neon a bit bigger and moving the camera farther back in Z-space. The anti-aliasing will be reduced this way and will give nicer edges.

Adding the tubes on it can help out the edges as well to make them smoother, but that’s more of a stylistic choice if you want those included or not.

I’m not sure if you’re using the steps to convert your logo into a neon (from step 1) but I’d recommend tweaking the blur and threshold levels in that, as well as scaling up your logo and shrinking it down in the “Step – Insert Logo” comp, that will help the edges to be smoother. Though if you’re using an illustrator file I’d recommend skipping that altogether as your logo is most likely isolated already.

Hello. Great, I’m glad you found that Module 2 comp!

The easiest way to describe it would be that it creates new “instances” of the scenes for you to edit. If you have a video that has a bunch of difference scenes or neons in the same scene, it’s easier to just go to “Module 2” and start editing than to save out a new version of the AE file and edit back and forth between two saved out versions.

I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, but when I bring one of these modules into Adobe Premiere, Premiere runs EXTREMELY slowly. Like so slow, that even if I turn on “Quick Edit” in the AE comp, it takes minutes to load the comp. My system is just about 6 months old, I have 128GB of RAM, Intel Core i9-7940X 3.10Ghz with 14 cores, and an Nividia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Any ideas?

For extending the duration, I’d recommend against increasing the time beyond 1 minute if you are new to After Effects. In your case what I would suggest is to render out a minute and just crossfade the 1 minute render over another instance of the render in Premiere Pro, that way you can extend the intro as long as you like with only rendering 1 minute of video in AE.

Hello GHD – Yes, the modules are scenes, but I think for a lot of people who purchase AE products the use of “Modular” has become synonymous with being able to build your own final product from various scenes that can be put together in whatever order you like, so I go with modular in the description and naming convention within AE.

Thank you! You can definitely extend it past a minute, but it’s not officially supported. There are quite a few comps and layers you would need to extend, so it’s most likely that you missed a few and that’s what’s causing the trouble.

Feel free to reach out directly at support@thomaskovar.com, sometimes screenshots help to isolate where the issue might be for me to point out, but in this case I think it’s just trial and error until you’ve extended all the proper layers and comps.

Hi Sofia, in order to use the product you’ll need Adobe After Effects. The application is available as a monthly subscription, but Adobe does offer a 30-day trial to test out the product so you can get a feel for it before subscribing.
