Beautiful work!
Thank you!
nice work !
Thank you!
This just blew me away. Solid AE skills. Can’t wait to use this.
Great, enjoy the project! If you run into any issues, message me anytime.
Awesome template !
Thank you!
Hey, Thomas. Great project! I’m having trouble tracking down the NEONLIGHTS font that is listed in the Readme.rtf file. The link returns a 403 “you don’t have permission to access this page” error. Even when I log in to the 1001 fonts site, I still get the error. Is there someplace else I can find the font?
Hi Tim,
I was just informed about a week ago that that, unfortunately, that font has been permanently removed.
That font was a free version of a paid font (which is why I’m guessing it was removed) called Sevigne ST, which you can find here: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/reserves/sevigne-st/
A free alternative I’d recommend is Beon: http://www.1001fonts.com/beon-font.html
I’m actually wrapping up a huge update to Neon Sign Kit, it should be available next week sometime. It includes a bunch of new features, as well as the removal of this font.
If you run into any other issues, please let me know!
This is my first time using After Effects and your tutorial is perfect for a super beginner. I’d like to resize the text to be larger but when I do, the effects and wires don’t change with it. Is it possible to have it adjust with the text?
Great, I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far!
The way the project is set up, unfortunately, there’s no way to scale all the elements at one time. I’ll definitely keep this in mind though for a future update, as I can see it being a nice feature.

Hi there,
I’ve been following your second tutorial on how to thin out a font (font is called Neon Buglar) but when I apply Luma Matte to the original layer, it makes both layers disappear.. Is there anything you can think of that might be causing this? Thanks in advance for you help!
Cheers, Ella
Hello, my first thought would be that your original layer is set to black, so it’s hiding the font in the black background.
My second thought would be you have the stroke set too high (or the font is already quite thin) and the stroke is completely engulfing the matte layer in black, so there’s no white pixels for the original layer to matte onto and be visible.
If it’s neither of those two, can you send screenshots to support@thomaskovar.com? That way I can get a much better idea of what might be causing the issue!
Thanks!
Hi Thomas! Very cool tutorial. I am simply trying to light up a logo with some great neon. No wires or anything. But I can’t seem to figure out how to adjust the brightness level. The logo is SO blown out with neon that you can’t read it. Any help? Thx!
Sending you an email with a screen shot.
Hello, I just replied to your email. Let me know if you don’t receive it!
very nice work
Thank you!
Hi Thomas. First, just amazing. Been doing this before, but this template makes it so much easier. Great job. one question. Is there a way you can make the sign blink with two overlapping texts. Shifting from one text to another using the method you are showing in the end of tutorial #12, a blinking sign with two messages. ? Great job!!!
Hi Mark, thank you very much!
You should just be able to use the technique on tutorial #12. You’ll just have to be precise on the masks you create, but I’m quite certain that method will work. If you have any issues, feel free to send screenshots to support@thomaskovar.com and I’ll be able to give you more specific advice after seeing the setup.
Ok, I’ll try, but the problem is that the two graphics overlap, so with your technique they mask each other out (does that make sanse) or am I misunderstanding something.
Hey Mark, I just replied to your email.
I want to use this in a Premiere project. How do I render this out, or insert it in Premiere?
Hello, the video tutorials included in the project file walk you through all the elements for animating and designing the neons. When you are ready to export the results out to video, go to File>Export>Add to Render Queue. Then set your export settings for your video and hit render You can then take the rendered out video and import it into Premiere.
I want to mention quick, you cannot create the neons within Premiere, only After Effects.
Im trying to do a custom wall. The image is 1920×1080 but when I insert the image into my project as a “front background” the image is blurry. Not sure what’s wrong.
Hello, I’m happy to offer support, but I don’t see a ‘Purchased’ icon by your username. I have a lot of my products pirated and I can only offer support for paid users.
Work with a mac ?
Hello. Yes, the template works with a Mac OS.
I can’t seem to find your tutorials. Where are they posted?
Hello, the tutorials are located within the ‘Assets’ folder, within a folder titled ‘Tutorials’.
If for some reason you aren’t seeing them, you may need to re-download the project file. Just log in to Videohive, on the top-right select your username, then from the dropdown select ‘Downloads’ and there you can re-download the project file.
If you have any questions at all just ask! You can reach out on here or directly at support@thomaskovar.com.
Hi. First Love our work! Second: How can I seperate elements. Lets say I have a Logo with different elements. In my case the red is glowing far too much, because it a flatt surface (filled circle) and other element like thin stripes around in yellow doesnt glow that much. So I like to set the glow less on the red circle and more on the thin stripes. As well maybe I like to let them flicker seperately. Is there a “simple” way doing it? thanks a lot
It less the “glow” I like to change its more the “brightness”...and the glow
Ah Ok. Sorry. I missed the last tutorial 12
thats look like a solution for me..
Hello. Great, I was going to mention checking out tutorial #12, that covers how to animate individual sections.
Regarding animating the circle, I would highly suggest using outlines of the circle rather than making the inner part of the circle a neon. The key to getting great results is to have all the neons the same width, that way it looks consistent. I mention in the tutorials some tips, but if you have any questions you can reach out to me directly at support@thomaskovar.com.
ooo very nice
Thank you!
Simple design but very powerful and inspirating
Thank you!
Hey there. So some other people have asked about rendering times. Same issue here… it’s slow, but i’m finding it really hard to get around that. BECAUSE for instance, say I disable certain settings, as suggested, to speed things up… Enable Quick Edit Mode, disable shadows, disable DOF, etc. But to actually see my work, say a flicker, I have to have all those turned back on. And when I do that, even a 3 second comp takes more than 45 minutes to render. Won’t play back in RT either, even changing 32bpc to 8bpc and setting resolution to 1/4. How does one reasonably animate a flicker when they have to, say, render for 45 minutes each time there’s a change to a keyframe? Must be a better way. Thank you.
Hello. Are you ram-previewing? At half or quarter resolution, even with everything enabled, it shouldn’t take more than a minute or two to preview a couple seconds. I definitely would not recommend re-rendering every time you make a change, as there are a lot of elements that are enabled to render the final result.
One other thing that might be taking extra time, are you using the truss? That element is very render heavy – to the point where I almost didn’t include it as I knew most people would be surprised at render times.
My computer, a 6 core mac pro, takes about 30 minutes to render 5 seconds, so I’m wondering if something else isn’t the issue in this case. Can you send me screenshots of your set up in AE and render settings? I’d be happy to give you any pointers I can!
1) I thought RAM Preview was no longer relevant in Premiere Pro CC 2015 2) Where’s the “Truss”?
1) I may have this Preview thing down… had some caching issues and think those are cleared up. Still curious what you may know about RAM Preview being relevant, if you have time to answer. 2) I found the truss; it’s not enabled… so we’re good there, right? Very much appreciate your availability.
Hello, Do you have any specific questions about ram previewing? They removed the term ‘Ram Preview’, though it is literally the exact same thing, they just changed the name to ‘Preview’. I apologize, it’s a habit to call it ram previewing.
You can read all about that here: https://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/previews-in-after-effects-cc-2015-13-5/
I’m glad you found the truss, we can rule that out as being an issue.
My recommendation overall is to keyframe the flickering with the quick edit mode enabled, get the animation timing how you want, then enable all the features and render. I tried to add as many features as possible to disable so you could have the best of both worlds – easy to work with, detailed final results.
Hello! I’m just wondering, is the white brick wall background from the preview not included?
Hello, the white brick wall is actually just the regular brick wall with a Tritone Effect on it to turn it black and white.
I believe the one you’re referring to is in the demo file in ‘Module 13’. If you go into the composition ‘Module 13 Brick Wall Front’ you can see the source layer.
The Tritone colors are :
Highlights: #A2A2A2 Midtones: #201D1C Shadows: #000000
If there’s anything else I can help you with just ask!
Amazing work
Thank you!
