It is still great! You are a genius in my eyes! Keep going!
Thank you!
Hi, is the size of the mini bulbs adjustable?
Hello, at this time the mini-bulbs are a standard size and cannot be scaled up or down. If you have any other questions please let me know!
Thomas, is it possible to replace the text with a vector file? My logo text is custom text not based on a font. Thanks!
Hello ThincDesign. Yes, you’d just place vector file within the comp “Module X Create Base” that you’re working with! Make sure to hit the Continuously Rasterize button if you’re scaling up your vector in that comp. If you don’t know what I’m referring to, message me at support@thomaskovar.com and I can send screenshots.
Fast review here ;
I was searching for Broadway / Marquee fonts so I could insert a nice typo in the beginning of a music video.
And boom… here I am.
Soon as I saw that this was a project from ThomasKovar I had no doubt in purchasing it. This is my second purchase from him, and my experience is:
- Tutorials are always great; long, detailed, and you can skip to the part you are interested in.
- I am no AE PRO … everything I can change there is based on my user knowledge of Adobe software. In the projects everything is labeled and easy to find to make adjustments. And when in doubt tutorials help a lot.
....
- I took one scene from the “demo” project; change a background color, a font, move a few bulbs to match the new title… and got it. Rendered a Quicktime file, and there to Premiere.
I came here searching for a “nice typo” and I ended with a full awesome intro that gives a lot more value to my video. And I could deliver the final video in the same day that I go this template.
Now, I know there is much more to see here; but my gratitude is that I only needed a few hours of render (I know this depends on the specs of the computer) to get an awesome result.
So thanks again for creating such great projects.
D.
( ** On a side note: Wisdom Script font on instructions has a wrong link )
Hello. Thanks for taking the time to write a review! Envato has an actual review/rating process if you go to your username on the top-right, from the dropdown select “Downloads” and under the product is a spot to rate and review your product. If you don’t want to do that that’s ok, but that’s the best area for other users to see your review.
I’ll be sure to get the link updated for Wisdom Script, thank you for letting me know that!
Nice job
Thank you!
Nice job.
Thank you!
Hi there
Really love this!
I’m editing the Theatre template and am trying to animate the minibulbs to switch on later in the project (at frame 180). Whenever I try and do this by moving the keyframes, the minibulbs switch off for the duration of the video leaving only the starbursts on
Many Thanks
Hey! I’m actually away from my computer for the day, but I’ll be back on tomorrow morning and will help out first thing when I’m back.
This might be a cache issue – try clearing your cache in AE (Edit>Purge>All memory and disk cache) and see if that does the trick. If not, I’ll get to the bottom of it right away.
Hey there
No worries at all!
That didn’t do the trick unfortunately. When I move the minibulb animator keyframes back to the beginning of the project, all seems fine again!
Thanks
Ok, I found the issue – it’s kind of a long explanation as to why this is happening, but the quick solution is:
Go to the comp “Theater Mini-Bulbs Loop” and on the layer “Matte” go to the “Brightness” parameter and delete the expression, and change the default value to 0. That will fix everything up! Here’s a visual example of that:https://d.pr/i/srzGL8
This issue is happening due to the way I have the project able to loop, but I think in the next update I’ll remove support for that, or at least re-do it so that this issue doesn’t happen again.
Give that a try and let me know if that solves the issue. If you have any questions, feel free to message me here or directly at support@thomaskovar.com!
Hello. Is that possible to have more tan 100 bulbs?? and a bigger project more than 1920*1080??
Hello. At this time, the project is only supported to have up to 100 bulbs and the final output in full HD (1920×1080).
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hi Thomas, I have purchased your Light Bulb kit, which is really great. I am having trouble with the Starburst effect and cannot get it to show up. I have changed the scale of the bulbs in the bulb group controls, so have then changed the threshold controls as you suggested in the tutorial video, but still they won’t show up. I have tried lots of different values but still nothing. Hoping it’s a simple fix. Thanks very much, Alex
Sorry, I have now sorted the starburst by playing with the size vs threshold values. However, I do have another question if I may. I would like the title I’m creating to sit over footage so would like to remove the background and it sit over a transparency. I can do that by hiding the background comp layer, but then the ‘glow’ and starbursts from the title disappears also as they cut off at the edges of the title. I am wondering how I can keep the glow and starbursts but over a transparent background please, so the footage when placed underneath would be seen through that surrounding glow? I hope that makes sense.
Hello! I just replied to your email, let me know if you have any issues receiving that or if you have any questions!
I am not sure how to animate the bulbs, I have watched the tutorial on youtube, but I am not sure how to just create blinking lights, do I have to create keyframes and do it manually?
I am sending my .aep file to you, maybe you can see If I messed something up.
Hello, I just replied to your email, let me know if you have any questions!
Hi! Great looking project. I need to re-create this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JjbO5ZKHbEDSEW0eJTg43-r8Fdv_RjZY/view?usp=sharing Will this project work? Thanks!
Hello! Sure, you could re-create that, but the project only supports up to 100 bulbs, so just note that limitation. I kind of do a similar animation with the ‘Restaurant’ module, so you can see in the demo AE file how I set that up!
If you have any questions at all, just ask!
Very worthy work! it will bring you a lot of sales !!! Good luck !!
Thank you!
Nice work!
Thank you!
Very cool!!! I know why I can’t make such a video.
When I was little boy, my mom bought me a violin
...and I can do music!!!
I wish you great sales, and I will be glad to cooperate!
Thank you!
Hey! Thanks for this, really cool effect. I’ve places my initial bulbs, but they are all placed wrong when I move to module 3. What have I done wrong? Please see my screen shot here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y6vh0hfnugjfurs/AACpCE2DMkn4PD2QlW8NtsxHa?dl=0

superb job ! wish you happy sales !......
Thank you!
Absolutely great visual appeal!
Thank you!
Anyway to speed up render times? I’ve got it set to h.264 and module 1 on the demo is set to take 30hrs. I have the fastest 27” iMac with 32gbs of ram
Happy to help! With a template like this, it would be difficult to say for sure without seeing your project set up, but I can point to a few different elements worth looking at and considering.
First, if you have the base set up with the extrusions, use as few extrusions as possible. I think for a lot of users it’s their first instinct to crank up the extrusions as high as possible, but it’s a lot faster to render out with fewer extrusion layers.
Second, if you have depth-of-field enabled, no matter what AE template you’re working with, you are going to take a big render hit. I only recommend enabling that if you are familiar with AE – I didn’t even use it in the demo, and I contemplated not including the option on the camera controller due to the render hit you’ll get.
Another recommendation is to be very conscious of the length of the comp you’re rendering out. Many times, buyers will contact me with long render times, only because they didn’t trim the comp duration, so it renders out 30 seconds worth of video when they only wanted 5-10 seconds. If you’re not new to AE, this really doesn’t apply, but it is worth mentioning.
Finally, I wouldn’t recommend exporting h.264 out of AE (presumably Media Encoder). You will take a render hit by AE rendering out the frame, then compressing the image. Instead, I would opt for an uncompressed, low slightly compressed codec. I personally use Quicktime ProRes for almost all renders out of AE. Then from that file, render out your final exports.
If you’d like to send me your .aep file, I’d be happy to take a look at your set up and give specific tips for your particular project set up! Just send it to support@thomaskovar.com. Thanks!
nice work!
Thank you!
Wow ! fantastic work as usual Thomas ! keep it up
Thank you very much!
