Hi chaddcarr, yes the example video is also included in a separated .aep file that contains only elements used in the video so it is easy to navigate through the scenes and files. So you can simply open the composition with the computer scene, open screen comp and put whatever you need inside.

Hi Joaquin, I’m glad you find the explainer video toolkit useful. Also thank you for the screenshot it helps a lot! I think the issue is that the character uses male proportions. Proportions should be automatically adjusted if you use the “W” women animations but anyways it seems off so please check the controler for proportions. You can find it in one of those three controler squares in top left side. One of them is a slider that says Man/woman proportions and it can be set to anything between 0 and 100 so just try to change the value and everything should be fine. Have a nice day!

Hi there, do you get any error message? If you get a message that an error occurs around line 740 of the script then I have a guess.

The problem is that for some reason After effects can read only certain ammount of characters per line of code. And some lines of code in Explainer Video Toolkit 4 are using also folder locations. That mean if you place the main Explainer Video Toolkit 4 folder in some location on your hard drive with longer path, it will be too much to read for After Effects.

The solution: put the main Explainer Video Toolkit 4 folder somewhere in your hard drive with shorter file path.

For example: C://documents/AETemplates/Evt4 will be good

But something like this: C://users/andykramersenior/documetns/after effect templates/videohive/ Evt4 will be probably too many characters.

You mentioned you use AE CC2017. Note that there are two versions of EVT4, so If you use AE CC2017 then use “Explainer Video Toolkit 4.1”

Also another option is to update your AE to 2018, 2019 or new 2020, then you can use EVT4.2 without installing anything.

Hi chuatzeyee, Yes you can turn on “Continuous Rasterizing” – the sun icon. This part however is a bit tricky because of AE limitations we have to turn Continous rasterizing for every composition and sub-composition in a character animation manually so it might take around 5 min of work. Hi there, over the 3 weeks I haven’t got any similar report so i guess that must be something that has to be solved on yoru side. I would recommend to check Edit > Preferences > Scripting settings, and play with a different setup. Also check if you properly extracted all folders that comes with the main EVT4 zip file. Yup Taerar, I don’t know which are the exactly mistakes: - First I have to run 4.1 script (instead of 4.2) in cc 2020 and also have Pseudo code installed (Which is no need to be installed also). - Next move (and maybe the reason why I can’t run as UI panel), I copy the “EVT Scripts” folder to ScriptUI folder, then I re-run the script 4.2 and now it work like nothing happens before lol. But I still don’t know why I couldn’t run it normally at the 1st time I run CC 2020

Hi andriancanyon, To be able to use the animation presets, you first need to copy the “EVT4 Presets” folder (from the main “Explainer Video Toolkit 4.2” folder you downloaded ) – into your C:/Program Files/Adobe/AECC2019/Support Files/Presets

Also in case you get some expression related error while using the animation presets try to check this:

1. Go to: File > Project Settings > Expressions 2. In the Expressions Engine list, select “Legacy ExtendScript” and click OK.

Update: I followed the new instructions, file > Scripts > run script file > navigate to evt4 folder. 1) I cant select the whole folder, should I choose Explainer VideoToolkit 4.2 for 2018 and newer? I selected that file, and many error messages pop up. After closing the error messages, I can insert some elements, and some others not.

2) Should I repeat this installation every time I open AE? Because when I close it, and open it again, I have to repeat it. How can I fix that? What should I do? Thanks for the support and patience

Hi Fgadget, Yes exactly as you’ve found out, with AE CC 2018, 2019, 2020 you don’t have to install any xml file. Simply run the script from file > Scripts > run script file and select Explainer VideoToolkit 4.2. So you did it correctly.

Regarding the error, it would be easier to solve if you send a screenshot, but usually there are only two things that cause problems.

1. If you run your After Effects in any language other than English – this is an old AE bug that can be solved by switching your AE to english. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rgrhXlUtm4 ).

2. If the script stop working around line 740 then it means you put the main EVT4 folder into location with too long name/path and simple fix is to put the main EVT4 Folder to some directory with shorter path. i.e. (C:/Documents/AE/EVT4)

on further exploring it looks like its related to the texture comp, the boxes with the areas for each element disappear after xx seconds, but Im unable to edit the layer.

Hi Apmurray, this is a bit tricky situation because duration in every composition and its contents have to extended for this character animation. That means you have to “unshy” layers and open up every composition, change duration, then select all layers in the composition and extend them too. There is around 30 compositions in a single character so unfortunatelly this have to be repeated.

Hi iris, I’m sorry window loading speed is tied to RAM and HDD/SSD disk speeds so unfortunatelly there is not much what we can do with it while taking into account also limitations that After Effects give us. Average loading time should be between 30-50 seconds.
