Hi there, Unfortunatelly AE has its own limitations and in many cases it actually can’t use most of that computing power you have. You can try preview scenes in half or quarter resolution. Also if there is a big scene with many characters you can select layers that draw a lot of resources and set them to be visible in draft mode which will significantly speed things up.

Thanks for ur answer. Its my video editing computer. and ae is allowed to use 26GB of the Ram. no other applications running. Even on lower resoltutions than quater its still slow as fuck.

My Scene: 1 Background, 2 characters sayin (animationhello) and a voiceover und its reeeeally slow playpack. also to render it takes 10 Minutes for a 30 second sequenze.

please help me. i’d really like to do my project with this template. i read so many good feedbacks. but it’s absolutely not working on my computer its so slow.

i have a super fast/ strong computer. i already tried to work from my local drive, and from an external SSD. i tried quater resolution. i even tried it on a brand new macbook pro max, 64gb ram and the preview is sooo slow, i can’t work with it. i use AE 2022 (also tried 2021) both in english

please help, what else can i do?

Hi AWM21, You don’t need to install anything, simply go to your After Effects and then go to File > Scripts > Run Script file and search for your downloaded template folder “Explainer Video Toolkit 4” > EVT4 Script > “Explainer Video Toolkit 4.3.jsx” > Open and the panel will appear in your After Effects ready for use.

Hi cinemalp, back view is quite simple to do you need to customize just a few things.

1.press shy icon to reveal all layers,

2. Turn off visibility of eyes layers,

3. Customize body and hair layers so it will look like a body from back view

4. Switch Neck and Body layers so the Neck layer will be under body layer.

You can also go to your downloaded EVT4 source files folder and go to Other Files > Story 01 Source Files > Story 01 Source files CC13.aep and open the original AE files for this scene to have a look how it was made or you can take the character directly and customize it.

Hello Jeppe, there seems to be a permission issue with your PC setup that don’t allow the script to create the necessary files. You can fix this manually. Go to your Windows and search for (percentisgn)appdata(percentsign) This will open directory User > Username > AppData > Roaming. Paste here the whole “Frederik V” folder from the link below and it should be fine. (This comment section doesnt allow some special characters so just use the actual percentage sign, not words). Also running AE as admin could help solve this more easily too.

Hello Raaffee, go to edit > Preferences > Scripting > Allow scripts to write files and access network (turn on) this needs to be on only the first time you run EVT4, after that you can turn it off and you wont be asked to do this again.

Hi stamos416, Thanks I’m glad you like the template! I made this HTML catalogue that you can open in a web browser and browse through all the elements. Originally there is just one living room BG. I think BG Home office, BG Christmas and BG Reception could be edited the most easily to look like another living room. There are 2 illustrations of sofa and all elements you see are created directly in Ae so they are fully open for customization. And yes if you add character animation, the animation and pose is already set so no need to do anything other than change character texture so your characters looks different.

Hi, that seems unusual. The easiest fix would be to open up the animation and select the control layer for hand animation and press “U” to reveal all keyframes of the animation and then bake animation = add keyframes to every frame of the animation.

If that doesn’t help you should check if the frame rate of your main composition match the framerate of the character animation composition

Hi jayirio, you can control eyes animation from the “ctrl Eyes” layer inside a character animation. There are various controls that allows you to make even more advanced face expressions. You can see eyes control here: https://imgur.com/a/rCdmm8N

Hi hisayama, Animation presets are simply effects / presets that can be dropped on any layer and it will add animation (movement) to the layer. We can animate many properties such as position, scale, opacity, rotation and other to get various animations. Animation presets also help you to get advanced animation more easily since achieving naturally looking animations might take some practice.

You can see in the example below how I used an animation preset to animate cursor click animation. Without preset this animation would take a few minutes to get right, however with animation presets it is a matter of seconds.

Hi puduska, This looks more like AE setup issue because merging EVT4 project with other projects don’t have any significant impact on performance. I would recommend to check Edit > Preferences > Media & Disk Cache. Disk caching should be enabled and check if your hard drive is not full. Also you can try to import a project file from your EVT4 Download folder > Other Files > Story 01 Source Files.aep to see if this problem would appear also with a different big EVT4 file. It might tell you something about where is the source of this issue.

Hi jayiriro, If you scale up a character then it will look rasterized because continuous rasterizing is turned off by default to save processing time since it is not necessary when most of animations use less than 100% scale. To turn this off you need to visit all the sub-compositions and turn on continuous rasterizing and make a simple mask to mask off the rest of the texture. Face rotation (45 degrees up down left right), Eyes position joystick, Eyebrows position joystick, Special controller for eyes where you can more precise adjustments like rotation, and control opening/closing the eyes.
