Please could you help me get it set up on my Mac? The tutorials are all based in windows. I don’t get the same screens to see the character creator.
Is there something special I need to do? The scripting and expressions option is on, but the character creator isn’t visible.

Hello, this message: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ualq7drherk0le/screenshot001.PNG?dl=0 shows that you have run the script befroe the project file is loaded. Please make sure that before you open the script wait until the project is fully loaded and the white background in the Preview window appears.
The rest messages show a missusage of AE or pc setings and not the kit. Is like not finding the paths and in all these kind of cases a clean instalaltion of AE always fixes this kind of issues.
Other than that
- you should try to unzip from scratch. Do you use the default mac unzip application or a third party one?
- have you followed the Quick Start file?
- have you checked the first tutorial?
Please just install the kit, follow the Quick Start file and advise full instructional videos under the name “Tutorials” at the following path: FrameStory Animation Kit > Extras > Help Files > Tutorials (In your case you should refer to the first tutotrial) Alternitavely in our Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLies9_9h6DvU_L6m06nzk_2ReWNw-carc
Additionally it helped other users with similar pc issues to run the kit in a different computer just to make sure that there is no system conflict. if you had this possibility would be really helpfull.

- i’m using Win10, not MacOS. I unzipped the package with 7zip.
- I followed the tutorial video : Setting UP.mp4 and the quickstart file
- I just re-done eververything as you wrote and as explain in the tutorial and the problems are the same…

I am very sorry for your experience but we need to have more details to understand your problem. Your pc specs are more than ok and we have tested the kit in much more slower systems and still works fine. We have encountered similar issues and in all cases problems were coming from user’s pc systems and the kit had nothing to do with it. In all these cases a clean installation of AE completely fixed all kind of bad performance.

2. you keep FrameStory assets to the same drive that After Effects is installed

This is the first time I’ve bought something from Videohive that doesn’t work. It’s crashing PC AE every single time running the script. I can get the panel open after running the script, but then selecting anything crashes AE without fail. Latest WIN10 updates, i7 6850, 32gb ram and GeForce GTX 1070. All drivers up to date.
The error I get is “After Effects error: There was an error processing this PDF document (1074397201).
Interestingly, I can’t open any of the Illustrator files related to characters either. I’m on the latest version of all CC products. The expression layer AI files say they will harm my computer if I open them in the Windows preview window and they won’t open. No errors given, they just refuse to open.
Did you make this product on a Mac by any chance? How do you solve this issue?
I have solved it! For PC users, this may prove useful for you:
Don’t try and run the AEs or scripts from a folder the same name as the ZIP file you extracted. The zip file you download will be called something like videohive-4xxxx6xb-framestory-i-character-animation-toolkit-with-built-in-ui.zip and can extract to a folder with that name that then contains a folder called 2 FrameStory Animation Kit My issue of AE crashing was purely down to running everything from the extracted folder the same name as the zip file.
A strange fix, but it seems to be working.
Hello, what are the minimum requirements for using this tool? I have an Intel Core i5-8600, has Nvidia GTX 1060-3GB GPU and 32GB ram DDR4 2666… Will it work with my config?

Hello we have tested the kit in an outdated 8 year old system with Intel® Core i7-3770 CPU, 3,40GHz, AMD Radeon R9 200 Series, 16GB DDR3 and still works perfect.

The project is good, the idea is good, I was very excited but I regret buying this project because my computer has no requirements for this project. The file is over 400mb, it takes an absurd time to open, after that the project cannot be viewed, I use a computer with 12gb of RAM. If it takes that long to open and load the preview, I wonder how long it takes to finish a render. Configuration requirements are not explicitly stated in the description, the requirements for the use of this project should be written in red and very large letters. This is a project for a few. I would like to have my money back. I accessed the refund page but there is no request link, just information.

SPECS This kit for sure is NOT for few. The contrary. Is built in a way that is much more user freiendly than any other kit in the market simply because we are the first to build the only kit with User Interface with a drag and drop builder. We created a much more simpler way of navigation and that is the big difference that makes our tool much more advanced from other in the market. Therefore this interface requires a more updated pc than usual but nothing too special. To give you an example we have tested the kit in an outdated 8 year old system pc with Intel® Core i7-3770 CPU, 3,40GHz, AMD Radeon R9 200 Series, 16GB DDR3 and still works perfect.
The fact that we do not give PC specs is because it is impossible to give an insigth on technical issues that may occur from hardware. Running AE on a pc of less than 16gb can have some bad performance according to Adobe official site. The kit has nothing to do with it. In Framestory you won’t encounter any bugs. Please also keep in mind that Envato’s form of requirements does not have these kind of fields to complete this kind of information. but we have incuded it in the kit’s description (not with red type as you propose because is not allowed).
12gb RAM is considered to be low specs from the official Adobe site. Not from us. Therefore the kit has nothing to do with it. Adobe minimum requirements for AE 2020 is 16GB RAM but please keep in mind though that no matter how powerful your machine is, After Effects has its own way of proccesing things so even if the specs are good you might encounter slow performance depending on the content. It is true that the file is 416MB but this has nothing to do with the perforamnce of AE. In other toolkits you will have to wait more than 10 minutes until the file is fully loaded. In FrameStory even with the above mentioned low specs you will not wait more than 1 minute.
TIPS Also please try to boost AE performance by choosing Edit>Preferences>Media & Disk Cache and change the Maximum Disk Cache Size to the maximum (it is necessary to close all other programs to take better effect). Also it is a common After Effects issue where it stores bad information in the memory / cache for specific frames and does not update them.In this case please go to Edit> Purge > Purge all memory and disk cache. This will erase frame information from the memory but also try these official Adobe advice: - Quit applications that are not necessary for your work. If you run applications other than those with which After Effects shares a memory pool, and you don’t allocate adequate memory to other applications, performance can be greatly reduced when the operating system swaps RAM to the hard disk. - Make sure that your system includes a display card that supports OpenGL 2.0 or later. Though After Effects can function without it, OpenGL accelerates various types of rendering, including rendering to the screen for previews - When possible, keep the source footage files for your project on a fast local disk drive. If your source footage files are on a slow disk drive (or across a slow network connection), then performance will be poor. Ideally, use separate fast local disk drives for source footage files and rendered output - Enable caching frames to disk for previews by selecting the Enable Disk Cache preference. In After Effects, assign as much space as possible to the Disk Cache folder (on a separate fast drive) for best performance. - Enable hardware acceleration of previews, which uses the GPU to assist in drawing previews to the screen. Choose Edit > Preferences > Display (Windows) or After Effects > Preferences > Display (Mac OS), and select Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, And Footage Panels.

We really want to help here and from our experience is 100% that users that have issues with their computers the most reliable solution is to remove everything, make clean installation of AE and follow the tutorials so you can run the kit step by step. Of course the instructions apply only to original version of AE. I understand that clean installation might be time consuming because you might have to install all the other plug ins that you have in your PC so that if you have the possibility to run the kit in a different computer just to make sure that there is no system conflict it would be really helpfull.

The app is working great but am using it on PC, the problem i have is that the UI is large and cant fit in the PC resolution of 1366×768. The “next button and delete character button” is hidden. any help?

There seems to be problems with program. Some characters have different color faces and bodies once clicked on.
I opened the day dreamer pre-made project and played it. When it played the character had a green face along with another male character. The female had a salmon color face.

Yeah I understand that but they aren’t working like intended. Also when I click on for example the black man or the rosa parks character (black woman) it produces a white man and a white woman on the screen.

I have two problems.
The first problem is that I can’t see the characters or any objects or backgrounds in the preview screen although i can move them around. I know it said i was suppose to wait until a white screen but it never appears once I do the first step of loading the frame story.
The second problem I am having is that the size of the character selection window length wise isnt long enough so even when I max it out I can’t see the bottom part like where reset, delete, delete all buttons are.

Hello can you please specify if you are using version 2 of the toolkit that we uploaded one week ago or the version 1?
About the problems you encounter:
1. Please use version English International or English North America only. Other languages can cause this kind of effects.
If you are already using one of these two languages then there are two possibilities: A. Files are relocated to other drive of you pc B. There is a conflict of scripts of other plugins already installed in your pc In both cases a clean installation of AE would solve enay problem.
2. Ι understand the situation.It is a matter of your settings of your screen resolution. It seems that you are using either a small size screen or low resolution settings and hides the bottom part of the UI window and therefore you cannot see Previous / Next buttons. Please try to use higher screen resoultion. Ideally not less than 1680px x1050px and higher than 1440px x 900px. Another workaraound would be to reduce your screen scale under win10 display settings to 200%

Guys, you really need to see what’s going on on Windows versions, after reading the comments here I realize I am not the only one with issues on Windows.
I got 2 computers with Windows, both Windows PC have the exact same problem and they are computers with 32 GB of ram and Ryzen 9 3950X so performance it’s NOT an issue here…
How and where can I get a refund for this? this is not working for me and I have tried every single one of the solutions available in your answers and followed all instructions on point.
I open the project, try to select a character and bye bye after effects… EVERY. SINGLE. TIME….

About the perforamnce it is true that our tool is much more advanced from other tools simply because we have built the only kit with User Interface of drag and drop builder. This interface requires a more updated pc than usual because we created a much more simpler way of navigation.
Please do respect the fact that more than 100 users are already using the kit so it is not that polite to just say that is not working. We are trying to help because we are 100% that the problem is in your pc specs and has nothing to do with the kit.

I meant 2 computers, these 2 computers have 32gb ddr4 and ryzen 7 3700X for one and Ryzen 9 3950X on another.
Both with the same issue, crashing after selecting character… I don’t need to show you in this comment section who has the problem or not, just read them and you will see.
Also, who told you that a computer with these specs is from 2012? Are you sure you’re reading the issue correctly? It seems the answer I’m getting is just a standard answer you give users with my same issue.
You keep asking what type of processor I use and you don’t see I have said RYZEN 7 AND RYZEN 9 which are fairly new and widely popular cpus that people are using to produce content…. Please read the comments throughouly and respond accordingly without a canned answer.

My 2 computers work just fine except your script, tried every fix you mention, the fact that you claim that your script has no errors or works on every single computer is NOT true at all… Clearly there’s a bug on incompatibility issue on windows.

Once again you have not sent us the info we asked for further help. Is 100% that your pc specs are causing the problem. The kit has nothing to do with your pc perforamnce. We already guide you on basic aspects and provided with official Adobe features. Unfortunately you avoid to reply to all our questions.
