Hi your setup seems good, you will be definitelly able to run the template since it has low system requirements. Ram is the most importatn factor for After Effects and generally low spec is considered to be 8GB. Medium is 16GB. This template coulbe be run even with just 6GB Ram or perhaps lower if you use the new AE CC2020

Hi ShootingMafia, Thank you for asking! All characters are based on the same rig, and just using different textures and differenth width and heigth setup you can acheive many different looks. So for example the biker gang character from the main preview, and a child character is before and after too. To make characters fat you simply open a texture and make add some belly to the body, and make thickness of arms and legs bigger. Unfortunatelly I don’t have an example of obese and healthy child but the rig certainly can handle this customization easily. Hi seritu, Of course Seems like part of the file structure is missing. Please make sure you extracted all the files from your .zip download correctly. ->

1. Open the downloaded zip file and extract all contents anywhere you like.

2. Make sure folder “1 EVT4 (CC2020)” contains: EVT Scripts, EVT41 Scripts, Explainer Video Toolkit 4.2.jsx, and Help.txt.

3. It is important to keep these folders together since EVT4 uses the location of the main Explainer Video Toolkit 4.2.jsx to access all the smaller scripts (located in the sub folders) to create assets.

yes but in your animation presets, when a character is having side view its one arm (far side) is behind the shoulder, like your preset “Character 11 Defense”. How do i do that? Can you update the script with a menu in which we can change to side view easily by using a slider?

When you unshy all layers you can locate the composition that belongs to the arm and simply move the layer below layers that belongs to body. That way the arm will appear behind the body. Also you will probably want to move the layer that belongs to the other arm above the body layer. There is no slider for this function because i wanted to keep the character rig with its functions as fast as possible and the function you mentioned wouldnt be used by many users so it wouldnt be worth the slow down. I recommend to learn basics of after effects, working with layers and compositions, once you get the concept everything will be simple!

Hi perfectkhan, Explainer video toolkit 4 is a template made for Adobe After Effects. You can download after effects on adobe official websites as trial version for 12 days and learn some basics to see if after effects is suitable for you.

Hi byelements, As you can see EVT4 has 7 different vehicles so I would just pick one that is the most similar to your idea and make customizations.

You can change the coposition size to get more space for the design, then select wheels layers and make more duplicates and adjust positions, then select the body of the vehicle and build a shape that resemble truck from square shapes or use pen tool. Then add some square shapes to represent the trail and that’s it. it shouldn’t take too much time. Another option is to look on graphicriver or other stock sites and find an illustration that fits your video and simply bring it to the project. Or one more option would be to hire someone to make this illustration for you on any freelancing marketplace.

Hi xyzies, EVT4 is fuly compatible with the new AE CC 2020 so it should be just some setup issue.

Anyways here are the two most important things you can try to check and usually it helps if someone has an issue:

If you use AE CC 2020 (or 2019, 2018) you don’t need to install anything. Simply in your AE go to Files > scripts > run script file > navigate to your downloaded main EVT 4 folder and run “Explainer video toolkit 4.2.jsx”. Note that there are two versions 4.1 -> for older AE. And then 4.2 -> for 2018, 2019, 2020 and any newer.

You can also try to go to File > Project Settings > Expressions > Set expression engine to “Legacy Extend Script”

I noticed you mentioned using 4.2, but on my end it says 4.3 – I also am still having issues knowing the process of how to get it to open since I am new to using this / for example, am i suppose to use EVT41 SCRIPTS or EVT SCRIPTS? – I have some images I can send over to show the issues I am coming across on my end – I tried to follow the tutorials for mac but ran into issues there as well

The animation presets are a different category so as you can maybe see in the tutorial videos, the presets are not used from the main EVT4 panel but from After Effects native “Effects and Presets” Window. Go to Window > Effects & Pressets, and search there

I’ve tried unzipping the file again and reinstalling from that but it is still having the same issue. I haven’t moved any folders from where they were originally.

Hi digital meal, Can you describe what steps you’ve made in greater detail? What version of After Effects do you use? Because i see in your comment you noted unzipping and reinstalling but if you use AE 2018, 2019, 2020 then you dont need to install anything just unpack and run the EVT4 script.

Anyways here are few tips you can try:

1. Try to switch expression engine: File > Project Settings > Expresions, try to switch it to the other option. Both should work but legacy extend script is working 100% without issues.

2. Go to edit> preferences> scripts > allow scripts to write files and access network.

3. Make sure you run the script from File > scripts > run script file > navigate to the main unzipped folder > main files > run “explainer video toolkit 4.2

The script is tested to work well on the new AE CC 2020 so i don’t think there is an issue on our end.

Please make sure that you put the markers on the layer with the applied preset. It does not work if you apply a marker on timeline and sometimes it is easy to confuse applying a marker on layer and on timeline.

Also you can try to switch expression engine: File > Project Settings > Expresions, try to switch it to the other option. Have a nice day!

Hi syfpsy, It wasn’t anything important thats why i didn’t send anyone a notice. The toolkit stays the same just structure of folders is a bit better organized so people with newer AfterEffects (AE CC 2020, 2019, 2018) have easier access to the tools.

Ah ok then, thanks. Sooo, any new toolkits are you working on? I would pay double for your next one as this last iteration was amazing but kinda feels old now.

I’ve developed something in the style that is trending now but release is still quite far and it is not customizable tools like explainer video toolkits…i guess it could be still useful, follow the profile for updates
