No…lets say the initial image said ‘debt’ then came back together and said ‘freedom’ Instead of it coming back together after the explosion as the same word.

Yeah, it would be quite easy to do: edit it with the first word, render the first half, change the word and render the second half; and then render both together.

Yes, the 3D effect is applied to your picture in After Effects, so PNG is perfect.

So is this basically font/text changes inside After Effects? Can a JPG or PNG be plugged in for same effect?
Of course you can. There’s a placeholder with text, but you can easily delete the text and put some picture in the place.
