Go to the main downloaded folder > Gif Catalogue > Open the HTML file (probably at the bottom) and every element has its name under the preview so you can find it in the main EVT4 panel easily

Ah, solved this problem already. The trick is to double click the preset and not to drag & drop it on the layer.

Hi, If you use older version of After Effects 2017, 2016 and any older.. then you need to install these scripts mentioned in the error manually.

If you would use AE CC 2018, 2019, 2020 or any newer then you don’t need to install anything and this will be done automatically.

You can open the EVT4 folder > EVT4 Main Files AE CC 2017 and older > Installation instructions > And follow instructions from the video or described in a text format. It is just about copy and paste a few lines of code into your presetseffects.xml and then it should work fine

Hi there, these effects are not important. If you don’t have them you can still use the scenes. Only thing I recommend is to go to Edit > Preferences > Scripting & Expressions > Javascript debugger (turn off).

Hi Taerar, i already fixed it. The problem was the language of AE2020 (i was using it in portuguese), i tried just change the language before, excluding the (PT_BR) language folder from AE folder to get the default (EN) language, but this doens’t solved the problem.

Now i uninstaled the portuguese version and reinstalled all AE in English and it works. Now its working perfectly. Thanks for the support.

Hi anaksemandr, most of the elements are in smaller resolution 500×500 or so but can be scaled up indifinetly as a vector graphic so the resolution doesnt matter much. Then characters are in 1920×1080p what is full hd. They can be also scaled up as vector graphics. You can do a few things > 1. Go to file > scripts > scale composition.jsx and decide new dimensions of a composition.

2. Press ctrl + k and change composition resolution manually

3. Preview your project in half or quarter resolution – not in full resolution mode.

4. Send a refund request if even after these steps your computer cant handle after effects

At startup “scale composition.jsx” – Please select or open a composition first. – This does not solve the problem of changing the resolution of the composition during creation. I have to wait 5 minutes until the composition is created. It is necessary to change the parameters for creating a composition and not the parameters for an already created composition. I wait 5 minutes every time until it starts – “Explainer Video Toolkit 4.2 (For CC2018 And Newer).jsx” and then wait another 5 minutes until the composition is created in 4K if I need 720p ???

I don’t think there is any 4K composition. Only backgrounds are in bigger resolution but still not 4k. Full HD is the industr standard but resolution anyways dont have much impact on general performance of your PC. I would say that our disk or processor is very slow and thats why you need to wait so long. Explainer video toolkit follows current trends and industry standards and there is unfortunatelly no way how to make a “low resolution” version. Every element comes in 1080p vector graphic what means it can be scaled up or down depending on what you need.

Hi hinsee thanks for letting me know it is solved. In case someone will be looking for similar issue in the future, press the “shy” button which reveals all characters layers and then you can play with order of layers to make any layer apear on top of others.

Yes press shy button to reveal all layers and play with order of layers. You can open head rig and re-order layers for head/hair too. And correct, the best results will be achieved if you do a few customizations of hair, maybe customization not even required because character textures already have back part of hair on separated position… It is also convenient because you cna make the customizations from one place (character texture) without need to open any other comps. I recommend to see the files from the promo video to see how exactly was this made and copy what you see.

Generally RAM is the most important thing to look at and 6-8GB ram should be enough to run the template and make even more complicated compositions.

After Effects is evolving and every few years we have a possibility to make the toolkit better so every new version is much better than previous. On the outside it seems like only design changed, but after you run the template you can find out there is a big difference between them.

Explainer Video Toolkit 4 is the fastest, has simple workflow, is the most flexible, has design that suits current trend and many more improvements over the older versions. Also EVT4 is fully compatible with the new After Effects CC 2020, 2019, 2018.

If I understand correctly you need to flip an animation directly inside character animation composition right? Then simply add one new Adjustment layer (CTRL+ALT+Y) and apply transform effect on the adjustment layer – go to Effects > Distort > Transform. In the transform effects uncheck “Uniform Scale” and set “Scale Height” to 100 and “Scale Width” to -100 Please don’t forget to rate the template if you like it, it is a big help for me Thank youu!

Hi Aditya84, Yeah you have to run the EVT4 script again from File > Scripts > Run Script File > Explainer video toolkit 4.2.jsx

Or more advanced option is to copy all the main script files into ScriptUI Panels and then you can access it directly from your AE Windows panel. (C > Program Files > Adobe > After Effects 2020 > Support Files > Scripts > ScriptUI Panels.)

I just tested this again and i think this is the fastest way (3-5min):

1. Create any “Woman character animation”

2. Create any “Child texture”

3. Open the woman animation > open character texture and replace it with the child texture.

4. Character already looks childish but with long arms and legs so go to “ctrl limbs” layer and adjust lengths to make arms, body and legs shorter.

5. now character looks good but animation is a bit offset so you need to press “U” to reveal all keyframes of the animation, select keyframes that looks not correct and adjust position of set of keyframes. Most of keyframes will be right, you need to probably adjust only “Position” property of hands. You can select set of keyframes and adjust them together to save sime since they all need to be offset by the same ammount.

6. (tip) for some animations you need to adjust only middle set keyframes and not start and end so be careful which keyframes you select.

Hi imnlightment, Thank you for purchasing and I’m sorry for the issue. Please check these three things.

1. Check if you extracted all folders from your zip download into one main folder. (not just the main script, because the script needs to access these folders too). So the main folder should contain “EVT Scripts , EVT41Scripts and Explainer Video Toolkit 4.2.jsx

2. Check if you haven’t placed the main extracter EVT4 folder into some place on your disk with too long directory path. After Effects can read only limited number of characters per line of code. Something like C://user/imnlightment/project files 2020/ after effects/ Explainer Video toolkit 4…. might be too long, if possible then make it shorter.

3. Go to File > Project Settings > Expression and choose “Legacy Extend script”. EVT4 is compatible with both javascript types but because this script was made on AE CC2018 and then Adobe released new After Effects 19/20 with a bit diferent javascript this might be root of the issue too. I hope this helps.

if 2018/2019/2020 – you dont need to install anything, just go to File > Scripts > runs script file > Explainer video toolkit 4.2 (make sure you dont run 4.1 which is only compatible with older versions).

If you use 2017 or older, you use “Explainer video toolkit 4.1” BUT then you need to install the missing pseudo effect manually. You need to open preseteffects.xml of your after effects and copy a few lines of code before the last ”</Effects>” tag. -> You can see a video tutorial in the “6 Tutorials” – “1.2 Installing EVT4 Mac”.

Hi justingarnder, Yes with Explainer Video Toolkit 4 you have full access to all shapes and their properties so changing shape or color of the backgrounds is possible (no pre-renders). There are however no controlers to automatically change for example all “blue” items to other color so you have to adjust every item color manually.

Hi I’m using the latest AE CC (17.0.6) and the is no “Install this first” folder in my download nor “PresetEffects.xml” when I show package contents> resources. It also does not appear in a spotlight search.

Hi there, with AE CC 2020 you don’t need to install anything, those instructions are for older versions. With AE CC 2020 or any newer you just go directly to Files > scripts > run script file > navigate to the main explainer video toolkit 4 folder and run “explainer video toolkit 4.2.jsx” after a while main panel appears and you’re ready to work

Hi red_canvas, Yeah it is easy There are two ways how to do this.

One is by extending duration of a composition like you did, but you also have to extend all nested compositions (pre-comp layers) in it. Since there are many compositions inside the main composition this might take a lot of time to do manually so i recommend to download this script wich is free so you can do it automatically for all compositions. https://aescripts.com/rd-compsetter/

The second way is to use time remaping. pick a time in your animation where no movement is happening, select the composition layer, right click and press Time > Enable time remaping. Then you can create two keyframes in time remaping property and stretch these two keyframes more far from each other what will give you as many extra frames as you need.
