Hello, I had noticed in the demo that the lines were numbered. I don’t have that. Is there a way to turn that on? Thanks
Do you mean markers labels: start 1 start 2 … ?.Those should be there by default.
Hola, a mi también me pasa, me dice que creé una composición.. Estoy dentro de una composición con un video y cada vez que presiono aplicar, dice “¡Crea una composición!”.
Usually this occurs when you don’t have a composition created or if you don’t have the timeline window selected. Please try this: create a text layer, select it, and the hit the “Apply” button. If this doesn’t work then we have a bug, and we will need more details so we can try to reproduce and fix it. On what system are you running ? Version of AE? And maybe the exact steps you made.
Thanks for the reply.
I’m on CC 2017, version 15.0.1, MacOS High Sierra, version 10.13.4
I followed your instructions (which are steps I have already tried myself), but still won’t work.
We’re still not sure way you get that error but we have made a couple of changes that we suspect may cause the problem. Can you send a personal message (on my profile page down to the right there is a PM field ) so we can send the script and you can test it to see if it works properly.
Hi, why does it keep telling me to “create a composition”? I’m clearly inside a composition with a video and every time I hit apply, it says “Please create a composition!”.
It’s currently unusable for me. Any help?

I’m on CC 2017, Windows 10.
I followed your instructions (which are steps I have already tried myself), but still won’t work.
- Opened up AE - Imported footage (script is already open by default) - Created comp out of footage - Created text layer and selected it - Wrote something on the input area and clicked apply
It won’t work no matter what I try. Even if I type the text beforehand, even if I add markers, even if I create a new, empty comp with just text. The same error pops up every time.
We believe we found the problem and we fix it. Can you send a personal message so we can send the script to you (on my profile page down to the right there is a PM field ). Or after the project will be reviewer by envato stuff will be available to download from your account. Laula which had the same probleme helped us and tested it, and now it works properly. Thank you for your patient.
I have sent you a PM. Thanks.
How can the entire footage can be exported/rendered with a transparent background; with only the text showing?
Hi
If you need only the subtitles without the background, just hide bg layer. Also, to render with transparent background you have a couple of choices, here it’s one : https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2220015
How do you install this?
Hi I made a small update and forgot to include the help file. I fix it, please re-download and follow the instructions in the help video. Thank you
Got the exact same error, as 703Reign. The ” ’ ” sign in text causes it, so if your text looks like “This script isn’t good enough to help me”, changing it to “This script is not good enough to help me” will work, I suppose.
Any chance to get rid of this problem?
Made it work again, there are two types of apostrophe ’ and ’ (U+2019 and U+0027 in unicode), 0027 is used by java, that’s why it is causing errors, changing apostrophes in text makes script work again.
Hi, thank you for your help. Will fix it by the end of the day.
This is the fastest feedback I’ve ever seen, thank you! Earlier in this discussion you’ve mentioned a custom build where the maximum width is adjustable, is it still possible to get it?
I think we can work something out, will send you a version tonight .
Thank you!
We fix the ‘ error, also we added a custom variable where you can specify the maximum width. To change it you need to open the Subtitles Creator v1.2.0.jsx file with Notepad or other text file. On line 16 you will find:
var MAX_WIDTH = 0;
Change the number 0 to whatever dimension you need (the dimensions are in pixels ) . Save it. Close and re-open the script .It should do the trick. I don’t know how long it will take to be updated on videohive but if you send me a PM I will send you the script by mail.
Thanks a lot! Downloaded updated version directly from videohive
Happy to help
Hello, I am applying the script and seeing the words added to the comp but I only see black boxes once the script stops. The error states, ” After Effects warning: Expression Disabled. Error at line 2 in property ‘Source Text’ of layer 1 (’<empty text layers’) in comp ‘Comp 1’. Expected:]. an expression was disabled.”
We couldn’t reproduce the error. Can you send the text you’re using. It may help to find the problem. Thank you
Hola como estas, tu producto no funciona, no arranca el scripts sale un mensaje diciendo falta en la fila 8 la carpeta no existe!!! una solucion por favor
Hi, I´m trying to use it following the instructions and after push the ”+” nothing happens. Is there any tutorial?
Is there a way to update the subtitle text without having to add it again and move all the markers? Refresh is not doing anything. Also when I add the text with plus button it removes some text, which is a bit annoying. I have 100 lines of subtitles, when I add these to the timeline it removes a couple of lines and ads one or two empty ones at the end. Also moving the markers one by one takes more time than to copy paste the subtitles the old school way.
I have the same problem it shows me 8 markers??? How this will work with mac?? mac doesn’t have * this by itself we have to click shift + 8 to have this *
How can I do this? Also there is no help file in the file that i download
Having the same problem as other commenters, mainly the instructions inside the script are completely different than in the product video on the VH page, do not work, and I’ve tried everything three times.
Being new to AE, I have no clue how to use this. Previous comments mentioned a help file but there are absolutely no instructions in the download. ??!
Considering there’s no help file, and the embedded instructions are wrong, and people on here are struggling to know how to actually use this add-on, could you take a few moments to explain???
I managed to get markers to appear, based on customer responses above, but no matter what I try, they are equally spaced along the timeline. This isn’t the kind of thing I expect from Envato and judging by the 1- and 2-month lag in replies, I’m not holding my breath that we’ll get actual help here.
I’m hopeful, because I’d like to use it, but otherwise this is a prime candidate for a refund. Crazy.
Just bought it. It’s great. Saves a lot of time.
It would be useful to have a visual customizable character limit to split long texts. Just a marker in the editable box to know where to cut the line.
Just purchased the script, works fine on Adobe AE CC – Needs to be added into the Adobe AE > Scripts > ‘ScriptUI Panels’ Folder – This was the first script I’ve installed so it would have been nice to have some instructions. I’m sure someone else will find this info handy – Thanks
Hi, I just downloaded the main files and I am not seeing a help file? Can you let me know how to load this into AE on Mac? Thank you!
Works fine. Great product for the price. Many thanks!
My pleasure.
Hi, great job with the plugin! Saves a lot of time! One question; is it possible to change the text? I have a typo in the script but does that mean I have to redo everything? Thanks!
Hi You have two option not very elegant but they can help.
Option one: () Select the “subtitles” text layer. Press the E key two times to reveal layer expressions. You should see now the “Source Text” property. Expand the expression field to see all the expression. Here you should find all your content, also here you need to find the mistake and corrected. It will look something like this:
var tt = ’’; var texts = [‘your text line 1’,’’,’your text line 2’,’’,’your text line 3’,’’,]; for(i=thisComp.layer(‘subtitles’).marker.numKeys;i>=1;i—){ if(time >= thisComp.layer(‘subtitles’).marker.key(i).time){ tt = (i<texts.length)?texts[i-1]:’’; break; } } text.sourceText=tt;
Only the text between apostrophe ‘ your text line 1 ‘ you should modify.
Option two: If you still have all the text format for each line you can overwrite the existing one by renaming the layer with the markers to “dummy” and then just run the script again “+”.
Hope this make sense. If you have any question, just drop it here or send by PM. Thank you Stefan
Hi, I purchased your script and installed it just fine. I am trying to add markers on the dummy layer while RAM previewing, but it just adds a single marker where I first start the RAM preview with an 8 on it. It won’t create any other markers when I press the asterisk button. Please help.
(Mac OSX 10.12.5; AE CC 2017).
Thanks.
Hi, great script but it does not support special chars like “ö,ç,ı,ş,ü,ğ”. Any idea to fix that issue?
