The work itself is AWESOME. However, the organization of the file is quite weird IMO. A little bit frustrating. Anyway, bravo for your job.
Does this need to be updated to be compatible with CC 2018? I just bought it but every time I try to open it, AE crashes. It’s currently unusable.
It shouldn’t need to be updated, it is working on my CC 2018 version. Have you had any luck since posting this comment?
Can I make the background, transparent and still use the text and the effects? I love to use this as a form of an lower third title 
Yes! Unfortunately, I made it more challenging than it should be, just follow these directions:
The easiest way to do it would be searching “White solid” in the project panel. Then find the layer titled “White Solid 11” and delete it (backspace).
That will delete the background for every scene.

Of course! Bolder font tend to look better for this template but you can use any font!
