Your tutorial could be less hectic, ok you know what you are doing but please slow that wavering cursor down. More info would be useful, it seems I have to cut the clips into short segments before I start? Will keep trying….

How do I color correct the clips once they are added to the drop area in the essential graphics/template section? Can I apply slow motion once they have been dropped into the template section?
Yes you can. In the essential graphics panel, Double click on the media thumbnail. Then the particular Placeholder will open on a separate timeline. Then you can add CC or slow motion etc.
