Great work!
Cool music and video, man!
Hey! Can you change the font?
Hi Eric. Yes, you can!
I’d like to edit this slideshow so that my images play at half the default speed. What is the best/easiest way to do this? Can I do this at the rendering/composing stage, or should I just render at default settings and then edit (with another program) my output video file to play at 50% speed? (The first options is preferable…) Thanks!
Hi Pichco,
There are many ways to do it. If you just wanted to slow the whole thing down, it’s easy enough. If you were working in 30fps NTSC, for instance, then at the render stage, you can set the frames per second to 60 instead of 30. Once you’ve rendered, you would reimport into After Effects and time-stretch to 200%... Bingo! – half speed.
From an artistic point of view, a quick trick like I describe above may or may not work. You’ll also slow down the glitchy animations and overlays. This may be the effect you want… or maybe not.
But you can also keep the frequency of the glitchy animations, while reducing the picture frequency significantly by doing some manual editing in the _EDIT composition.
I’ve designed the template so that it’s easy to push timings around, duplicate or remove grunge elements and so on. Obviously this method will take you a few hours, whereas the trick above will take you just a few minutes, but the choice is yours.
Any which way – yes, it’s doable!

Do you have a place where I can download the images in one zip files?
Hi tstaires,
No, unfortunately I don’t, because the images don’t belong to me – I’m actually not allowed to package them up into one zip and offer them for download.
But if you look in the user guide, there are links to all the images I used in the preview. Right-clicking the images in the user guide and saving will allow you to save them all into one folder relatively quickly.

felt! You are amazing . . . love this project! I’m going to use it to grunge-up some wrestling footage!
Great Dinamic Slideshow !love the style!!!
Thanks for the info… one more quick question. I was able to create the additional placeholders to add images… however, is there a way just to copy and paste an entire folder so that the effects stay intact. In other words, I would like to repeat the first folder again at the end exactly with just new photos…. or do you have to drag each effect one at a time? I appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
Hi Kumite,
I’m not 100% sure I understand your question. A folder is simply a way of organizing elements within a project, so the idea of repeating a folder doesn’t make too much sense to me. You can certainly duplicate a whole folder, but in terms of repeating, you’d need to repeat a chunk of the timeline.
To achieve that is a bit more of an advanced techique that requires that you’ve got a handle on the way that After Effects structures its assets.
But here goes….Duplicate the whole of the first folder comps 1-10 (I’d rename the compositions inside to keep track of where you are – maybe put an “A” after then name). You can then go to the timeline and duplicate all the layers IMAGE 1 – IMAGE 10 and move them wholesale along the timeline. Just select and drag the lot of them.
Finally, you need to replace each of these duplicated layer’s source composition with the appropriate new composition that you created… i.e. the comp with the same name, but an “A” after it. To do this, select the layer IMAGE 1 on the timeline and the composition IMAGE 1A in the project window. Holding down alt/option, drag the IMAGE 1A composition from the project window over the selected IMAGE 1 on the timeline and it will replace the source.
Repeat for the other ones. Now when you update the images in IMAGE 1A – IMAGE 10A , the original IMAGE 1 -10 won’t change.
Good luck!

Hi, great slideshow. I want to add additional placeholders to increase the amount of total images. Is there a simple way to create say a folder “61-70” but just use the same effects as 1-10 etc. Sorry novice with this program. Thanks.
Hi Kumite,
If you right-click on any of the IMAGE XX (where XX is a number) layers on the _EDIT timeline and choose Reveal Layer Source in Project, After Effects will highlight the Composition in the Project window. Now use Ctrl-D (or Cmd-D on a Mac) to duplicate this Composition.
You can now put a new image into this Composition and drop the Composition anywhere you like on the _EDIT timeline.

Hi,
I have just bought your slideshow, but its saying it will take over 2 days to download. Is that correct? Is there any way I can get it faster??
Hi Jengastar,
Unless you’re using a modem from 1989, it should download in a few minutes. It sounds like there’s some kind of problem with your connection. I’d try it again later and if you still have problems, then get in touch with support.
Hi, I’m thinking of buying this project file. I have a question about the way the project is organised: Is it difficult to add extra photos? I’d like to increase the number of photos displayed, so the AE project file will remain the same duration, but the photos will appear at a faster pace.
Rather than trying to cram extra images in to the AE project, I was thinking of making some simple video clips in Premiere of the photos flicking by at a quick tempo. Then import the video(s) into the AE slide show slots.
My AE experience is beginner-intermediate. Do you think this work-around option is better than trying to insert a heap of extra photos in to the AE project file, or convoluted and unnecessary?
Hi SnipSnap,
It’s actually rather easy to make as many new images you like from the existing ones.
If you do buy, drop me a line and I’ll give you full details.

Oh… and of course, you can drop any media in that you like – so you could import video from premiere or you can even create simple animations on the placeholder timeline. There’s loads of ways to do it.
awesome slideshow
Of course. Just import videos instead of stills.

hello
Can I add videos?
this is how it’s done!
Thanks, Blackwatch. Glad you like it.
