Description
The Obj Importer for After Effects allows to add 3D lowpoly .obj models to your project.A model is converted into a set of 3D layers in a single composition.
You can use simple shaders to control its color and transparency.
Projects created in this way does not require any plugins.
It works on AE CS5.5 (and above) for MAC and PC
v1.1 added compatibility with AE CC2014 and CC2015 (20jun2016)
Main Features
-
Fill and Stroke Color
You can set the color for particular sub-objects or all at once. -
Skylight System
Allows to simulate lighting without adding to a scene light sources. -
Opacity Falloff
It can be useful if you create “x-ray” material. -
And much more
Please read the Help file
Limitations
-
The number of polygons.
Depending on the performance of your computer, the model should contain no more than 1000-2000 polygons. -
The polygons of a model must be planar
at the other case there may appear a gap between the layers.
A polygon is planar if all its points lie in a certain plane. -
Textures and animation are not supported
Maybe it will change someday -
Precomposition
Precompose of an object not allowed.
The object must be in the same composition as a camera. -
After Effects Bug with overlapping polygons
This problem looks as follows: layers that are farther from the camera overlapping layers that are closer to a camera. More details in video tutorial .
