I have been trying for hours to figure out how to get to the background layer. I love this animation and want to use it in another project, I just want the fireballs and trails and flare at the end. sparks are optional, but still cool.
Can you tell me how to remove the background so that it is transparent? Not just change the color…
Hi there Jhnsntmthy,
You probably need to discover the power of the ‘shy’ switch. On the timeline of ! FIREBRAND (LONG) or ! FIREBRAND (SHORT), click the little button up at the top that looks like a little guy peeping over a wall. This unhides all the layers which have their ‘shy’ switch turned on (I just use it to keep timelines neat).
In the layers that get revealed, you’ll see all the stuff you need. The firetrails are layers ‘particles 1’ and ‘particles 2’, the sparks, explosion and flare all have their separate layers too (the names are pretty self explanatory there), so you can mix and match to your heart’s content.

The paths in 3D scribble logo are an extremely complicated tangle and hard to create. It will be a lot of work, unless you know AE well, but in principle, yes – they work exactly the same.
The colors are easy to change in 3D scribble logo, as is glow, thickness of line etc.
The easiest way to make the 3D scribble look different, or to generate a number of different looking scribbles is to reposition the camera and to turn some of the particle layers off.

was wondering whether does are we able to move the fire as well and perhaps getting a few fireballs as long?
I intend to make some video with wordings with a few fireball during the editing. Is it possible with your pdf help file?

I haven’t included details of how to do this in the help file. If I included every possible kind of cutomisation, the help file would run to many, many pages.
But the kind of customisation you are talking about is possible. In ! FIREBRAND 1 or 2 composition, click the ‘shy’ button to show all layers. The particle system follows the path of one of the two layers: sweep 1 follower or sweep 2 follower If you change the path of these, then the fireballs will also alter their path. If you know how to animate a null layer in 3D space in After Effects, then it’s fairly straightforwards to do.

Xemmex was a happy customer in the end. I think the problem was that he was opening the project in a non-english-language version of After Effects without converting the expressions. There’s an entry in my FAQ that explains how to deal with this now.

Works great! don’t be afraid of xemmex comments if you are reading this post before buying. If you have installed Cycore in the AE plugins folder (not the default C:\programfiles) then everything should be fine. Also if you have a hacked Cycore plugin dont expect to not have problems. Thanks felt_tips for this file.
Another thought before I get on the road: If you are using CS4 and have access to a version of CS3 , then perhaps try opening in CS3 .
I have experienced intermittent problems with the translation engine between CS3 and CS4 , despite the code being correct. There’s probably a case for saving off a separate project for each version in the future.
PS Xemmex, it would also be useful to find out what platform you are using and which version of After Effects.

Sorry to hear you’re having problems. It sounds very much like a missing plug-in problem or some kind of problem with the general install. This project has been checked, both by myself and Videohive staff.
Send me a private message as I have a version of this that is pre-rendered too. If there’s a problem with the install of Cycore, then the other version will remedy the problem. I’m travelling with work at the moment though and not back till Wednesday evening, so I’m afraid I can’t do it till then.
