HI. I keep getting render errors. An error reading from a file. I have re-downloaded all the files and it is still the same file that is a problem. Can you help?

Hello. Can you send screenshots or the details of the error to support@thomaskovar.com? Once I can see what the error is I’ll be able to help troubleshoot the issue!

Hi there,

Really amazing work. I found this template, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Just 2 little details: - you should give links for the fonts (Helvetica Neue Light and Thin) in the description of your template and in the documentation. - I would like to add music in the AE project, but I didn’t see instructions about that. Could you please help on this, please?

Again, amazing work. Congrats. :)

Hello,

Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it!

Regarding the links, Helvetica Neue is kind of tricky because it’s a system font on Macs, but not on PCs (a system font means it comes with the operating system). Since many users own Helvetica Neue or are on a Mac, I kept it as the template default, but you can definitely use a free alternative on a PC like Arial Light. If you are an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber, I would also recommend Open Sans as another great alternative that you can access for free via Adobe Typekit with your subscription!

To add audio, simply import your audio clip into After Effects and drag the audio file from the Project Panel to the Timeline. Though you can add your audio in After Effects, I would highly recommend exporting out the final video from the Computer Demo project file and then importing the render and your audio into Premiere Pro and edit it together, rather than doing it all in After Effects.

If you have any questions or would like me to give more details, I’d be happy to help! Just send any questions you might have to support@thomaskovar.com and I’ll get back to you right away!

Thanks again!

Hello Thomas,

OK, thanks a lot for your tips. I thought export / import generate quality loss, as there’s 2 encode steps… That’s why I asked. Thanks again, all should be ok now.

Best regards.

Hi. Very nice template. I’d like to use just a clear alpha channel background to key it over something in premiere. Would I just set that up as a custom background? (But for some reason, I can’t find anything named “custom” in the backgrounds. Can I have some guidance? In the meantime, I’ll have another cup of coffee and look again:) It’s probably something simple I’m missing…

Hello,

No problem, I’m happy to help. Could you message me on my author profile page on the right hand side and I can direct message with you! Thanks!

Thanks so much. I bought this earlier today and have edited it and have my finished video ready in just over an hour. I’m a novice at AE and found it really easy to tailor especially with the instructions file. Thanks, great work.

Awesome! Thanks so much for going out of your way to write that, I really appreciate it. If it’s not too much trouble, would you be interested in rating the project? If not that’s completely fine, but it really helps potential buyers get a feel for your overall satisfaction.

Thanks again Kate!

No worries at all – done, 5 stars!

Thanks again, if there’s any way I can help you out in the future, please message me.

Hi Looks great. Can I ask – is it possible to add voice over and what software is essential for editing? Thanks, LW

Hello,

Thank you! Yes, you can definitely add a voice over.

For editing this project, you would need After Effects version CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC or CC 2014.

Although you could add a voice over directly into After Effects, I would recommend using a video editing program like Adobe Premiere Pro instead of a compositing program like After Effects.

The basic workflow would be to edit the project in After Effects, render out the project (which will create a video), then import that video and your .mp3 or .wav voice over, as well as any sound effects or music for the video into Premiere Pro, and export the video from Premiere Pro into your final output settings such as .h264 or .wmv.

You can sign up for the Adobe 30 day trial from their website, Adobe now only does a subscription model with their Creative Cloud Membership, so for about $50/month you would have access to all the Adobe apps including After Effects and Premiere Pro.

I hope this helps! If there’s anything else I can help with or if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Hi thx for your nice work. However I can’t find a way to “enable the text layer” like you said in the document. What should I do ?

Hello, thank you very much! To enable the text layer, you click on the eye icon on the far left side of the layer in the timeline window.

If that doesn’t make sense, message me on my author profile page on the right hand side and I can go over it more detail with you!

Great work! We’re beginners on AE but found your instructions really easy to follow. Looks awesome!

Awesome, I’m really happy to hear you like it. Thank you!

Hi there, I purchased this project and am excited to use it, however, any time I open the AE file, all of the links to files are ‘missing,’ and when checking the assets folder that came w/ the AE files, it looks like perhaps the naming conventions don’t match, which may have severed the file links. Do you have an update for this that perhaps doesn’t have severed links? Thank you for your help.

No problem, all you need to do is click on any file within the project panel that is missing, right click it, select “Replace Footage” then “File” and select within the assets folder the same file name as is missing in AE. AE just needs you to tell it where one of the files is, and it should re-link them all for you.

Please let me know if this solves the problem, if it still doesn’t please message me directly and I’ll be glad to help out.

Never mind, I’ve got it now. Great product so far!

Is it possible to export with alpha/transparency and not the white background?

It definitely is, you will just need to turn off the background layers and export with a setting that allows transparency, such as a Quicktime PNG format with alpha turned on. Hope this helps, if it is unclear please message me.

Can the camera animation be adjusted or completely modified?

The camera animation itself cannot be adjusted, other than slowed down or speed up via time remapping. I tried to make it as flexible as possible within the limitation of it being rendered from a 3d program (C4D). There is an actual camera that is exported from C4D into AE, that is what makes the custom 3d backgrounds and screen possible, but changing the camera move itself is not possible.

If you have any other questions let me know!

Is this video solely for CS6? Or can it be edited in CS4 or CS5?

Great video whatever the answer! :)

I am currently uploading a version for CS5 right now, so that will be available to download as soon as the new file is approved within a couple days. If you need the project file right away, purchase the file and send me a message and I will send you the CS5 version right away.

Great Job! Very customizable and he even provides all of the background options in the project for easy editing, along with custom layers for you to add your own! Such an easy to edit, well organized project. – Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words. If there is any way at all I can help out let me know. A great resource for the different background patterns is http://webtreats.mysitemyway.com/category/textures/ so check that out.

Well deserved, Thanks for the link to more textures!
