Hello! I noticed the kit doesn’t include glove accessories, especially for sports like cricket, baseball, or football. Just wanted to ask—if I add my own set of gloves, will that affect the animation presets or rigging logic in any way? Would love to know if there’s a recommended workaround or layering approach. Thanks!

Hi, thank you for reaching out. In this case you would need to parent the Glove as if it was an object in the character’s hand. Like this, the glove would follow the hand, however If you use custom gloves/ designs, you would not be able to use the hand gestures rig, so you would be dependant on the image/ design that you add.

Hi – could you let me know if there are scene elements for me to have an ice cream shop scene and also a bank scene? Is there somewhere I can view all of the scene elements? Thanks

Hi, thanks for reaching out! There are no specific elements for bank and ice cream. However you can easily integrate any other image even from outside this package. With regards to the elements, we have this display specifically for our Animal Character toolkit, most of the scene elements are identical to this one, with the animal toolkit having some extra assets (forest and north pole): https://neuronfx.com/scene-designer-objects

i have missing 3 effects, (Duik_Bezier_IK, Duik_One_Layer_IK), Duik_two_IK) can you help me?

Hi, thank you for reaching out. That is a notification just to let you know that, that effect was used to create the toolkit. However, the toolkit does not require any plugins/ effects to work. Simply press “Ok” and you can continue using the toolkit normally.

Where can I see all the stuffs in one? I thought there will be an HTML file with all gifs.

Hi, thank you for your interest. You can find a preview of all the animations on our website; simply scroll down to the animations section: https://neuronfx.com/character-animation-explainer-toolkit-for-after-effects

Hey nice work! is there a way to explore or scale to Tiktok reel frame size?

Hi, thank you for your feedback. Yes sure! With the toolkit you can do the characters, these will have a transparent background by default so you can use them in any frame or format. Just place the whole final composition in a new composition with your desired size and format.

I just purchased this, but it is not working. I get a ton of expression errors when in the character studio and head studio. I was using AE 24 and just downgraded to AE 23 to see if that works and still nothing. Is this even able to work with a modern version of AE?

Thank you for reaching out to me.

Usually, problems similar to this might be related to the expression setting that your After Effects is set in.

When you have the project opened. Go to File> Project Settings. From here go to the “Expressions” Tab. Make sure that the expressions engine is set to Legacy Extendscript, and not JavaScript. If it is set to JavaScript simply switch it to Legacy ExtendScript and press ok.

That should be all! Please get back to us and let us know if this solves the problem, and if you have any further questions. Many thanks!

Hi, I’ve downloaded it and open it but there’s no Animation Preset to just talking. how can I make talking action for explain just conversation?

+ it seems to be can’t adjust how lip shape is

Hi, thank you for reaching out.

With regards to lips and mouth animations, these can be done either by lip-syncing or by keyframing the poses that the toolkit comes with.

The easiest and fastest way to create a talking animation is to import a voice talking sound and using the Auto Lipsync feature to match the mouth with that sound. We have created a tutorial on how this can be done, you can have a look at this here:

https://youtu.be/HSC1cuE16OM?si=XyCjTK5MoEzgxqgu

While if you are using After Effects ina. foreign language you can check this video:

Hi There I am having trouble resetting the character after animating. I am animating one scene and would like to reset the character for the next scene I need to work on, but my character is breaking at wrists. Can u please explain how to reset character to initial pose?

Hi, thank you for reaching out to me. The best way to do this would be to actually add a standing pose, so the character will take the animation of that initial standing pose. Alternatively you can select the Character Animation Suite layer and tap ‘U U’ on your keyboard, this will display all the keyframes there are on that layer. Then make sure that all the values are set to “0”. Simply change any value back to “0”.

Hope this helps! Of course should you need further assistance don’t hesitate to ask! :)

Hi I recently purchased your character animation toolkit and while i was following your tutorial on youtube I am getting this error when I change the “select shoe” property the shoe don’t change and moreover the existing shoe is also gone. please help. screenshot – https://i.imgur.com/7Aw944b.png

Thank you for reaching out to me.

Normally the issue regarding this would be that you will be using the slider (or dragging on the number), to change the number of the shoes for instance, and the new number will happen to be with a decimal place, rather than a whole number. To fix this, simply click on the number of the item you would like to change and type in a whole number, for instance 2. Just make sure that when you click on it it is not 2.1, etc, since After Effects will not be able to read this correctly causing the item that you are changing to disappear.

Please let me know if this helps, so we can guide you accordingly :)

Hello, I bought this kit a while ago but I’m only trying it out now. I use AE 2023. I’m going through the user guide, opened character #19 and trying to make some changes to the character. I changed the skin colour and the collar properties and that worked. When I changed the values of torso properties, or neck properties, I didn’t see any changes in the character’s torso or neck. I haven’t tried to make changes beyond this section. Can you help me out?

Thank you. I emailed you the recording.

thank you for the screen video.

In this case, the ‘torso shape’ and ‘belly’ are separate parameters. They work independently of each other.

Since, in your case the torso thickness is quite high “80%”, this is hiding the belly, that is underneath it. To see the belly you will need to either decrease the torso thickness until you see the belly, or else, increase the belly size to 100%, since it is currently set to 50%.

Can you try this and let me know how it goes?

Thanks so much for your prompt responses to my questions. All is good now!

Hello what is the minimum version number of AE that your project is compatible???

Character Animation Explainer Toolkit is designed for Adobe After Effects CC and above. It is compatible with After Effects CC Version 12, and all the other more recent versions, including: CC, CC 2014, CC 2015, CC 2016, CC 2017, CC 2018, CC 2019, CC2020, CC2021, 2022 and 2023

You are very welcome :)

Hi, just bought and trying to use but keeps coming up with:

“After Effects error: asked to create unknown property of type Pseudo /”

When i click on the FX to use, any advice?

Hi thank you for reaching out to me. Is it possible to send me a quick screenshot of what you are doing when the error pops up. Maybe a quick screen video would be better if it is possible. So that I can analyse this further and help you to a solution.

You can send me the screenshot over the following address: stephanzammit@neuronfx.com

Also, is it possible to clarify what you mean by: “When i click on the FX to use”?

Does this refer to when you add character animations?

When it comes to applying animation, most of the times the problem is that you might not be selecting the Character Animation Suite Effect.

After you select the Character Animation Suite Layer, you will also need to select the Character Animation Suite Effect, from the Effect Controls panel. Then simply double click on the animation you want to add. Also, make sure not to drag and drop the animation, but simply double click it. if contact us through email, I can send you some images to explain this further if needed.

Hi. Can I use this pack for youtube videos with the regular license?

Hi, yes, the regular license is actually ideal for youtube videos. You can use regular license for Youtube videos.

Does this still support the latest version of After Effects in August 2022? Also, do you have your tutorial videos anywhere available to watch? Would love to watch more tutorial videos before deciding to purchase. Looks like this tool might be an answer to my prayers!

I noticed the last update was in 2020 which is why I’m asking

Hi, yes this still supports the latest version of After Effects. It actually works much faster on newer After Effects due to various improvements from the software’s side :)

Regarding tutorials, you can have a look at the whole collection of tutorials here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOJt6ilrO-c&list=PLj2u0xlsUQfcg3MRc1rRomAj9adRIVHCj

Through these you should quite a good idea of what it is and how everything works, of course if you have any questions we are always here to help :)

Hi! I’m animating a 2D webserie in After Effects and i designed my characters in Adobe Illustrator. Can i use them with the character animation presets and head rigging features of your plugin?

Do you have a tutorial where i can find the process to do this, or have a way to test the plugin before i purchase it? (Like a limited demo version or similar)

I saw this tutorial [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P00gJ5Hqqw ] But the process doesn’t seems that will work on the characters i’ve designed.

I really like your plugin but i don’t want to spend this amount of money if i don’t be sure that it will be 100% functional to my needs. (In my country there are about 50% taxes that i will not get back if i make a refund).

Thank you!!

Hi, thank you for reaching out to us!

As for your question, there are 2 main ways how to add custom character designs in the toolkit.

1. By using completely new custom images. This will allow you to use your images completely bypassing all the pre-made characters of the toolkit. This method however will bypass the head rig, so you won’t be able to use the head features, since you will be using your image. You can see this help video for this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmCX3_6epTQ&t=1s

2. You can customise just selected parts, for instance you can add a new beard, or your own nose image, etc. This will allow you to modify the look of the character with your own image assets while still keeping the functionality of the Head Rig. This is explained in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P00gJ5Hqqw

3. Option 3 would be to mix the two options together, so for instance for the body you can use Option 1 and add your custom images completely changing the character’s body with yours, then for the head you will use Option 1 to still retain the head functionality.

Hope this is of help to you! As for the demo version, unfortunately we do not have a demo version for this toolkit. Of course let me know should you need further assistance.

It has been a while since the last update.. Is this project still on your map?

Hi, thank you for reaching out to us!

Yes, we still plan to add even more features and updates to this item. This being said, we don’t have a fixed time frame for this right now. Of course, if you have suggestions and things you would like to see, let us know, since we are always looking in ways to make our products better.

How would I go about setting keyframes for my character when I am using the advanced rigging mode? I am able to move a character’s body around with the rig, but can’t figure what to click to keyframe the rig movements. Is this anywhere in the guide?

Hi, we go over the custom character animation in this video: https://youtu.be/yPpFMSLWfIk

To set key frames, simply hit ‘p’ on your keyboard, when you have a control from the rig selected (for instance L Hand). This will show you the position of that specific control. Then click on the stopwatch next to position to turn start adding key frames.

Hope this is of help to you, of course let me know should you need further assistance!

Do you have any animations relating to pushing another character or shoving an object? Additionally, is a bow n arrow shooting animation part of your package?

Hi, unfortunately these are not included in the toolkit. You can find a gallery of all the included animations here: https://neuronfx.com/animation-gallery

This being said we think these animations are a good idea, so we will add these to our road map for future updates.

My specs are 32gb ram 3060ti rtx graphic card i7 Do you think it will work on my pc?

Hi, thank you for reaching out to us! Yes this should work well on these specifications. Of course, since this is character animation, you will need to allow some time for preview and rendering, but we have included a feature named: boost performance, which can speed up your previews by 2x. Simply turn this on when working on the video then turn it off just before final rendering.

Hi there, Just bought and downloaded, my PC has 128Gb RAM, a Ryzen 7 3700 and running SSD drives and the performance is unbelievably slow. It also is listing 500+ expression errors. After Effects is latest version and each frame render time is listed as 750ms. Is it the expression errors that are causing the slowdown?

Hi, thank you for reaching out to us!

Normally this is an issue related to the expression setting that your After Effects is set in.

When you have the project opened. Go to File> Project Settings. From here go to the “Expressions” Tab. Make sure that the expressions engine is set to Legacy Extendscript, and not JavaScript. If it is set to JavaScript simply switch it to Legacy ExtendScript and press ok.

After doing this, the expression errors should be fixed and you should be able to use the product normally.

Hope this is of help to you! Of course, if problem persists you can contact me directly via email. It would be best to send me a few screenshots or a quick screengrab video of the specific problem, so that I can identify any issues and help you accordingly. You can send these to: stephanzammit@neuronfx.com
