I’m having the same issue that Konsider noted, unable to position text vertically in the bubble. I am using 03 Speech Bubble and if I have text that works out to be three lines it works great, but if it’s one line or two lines it doesn’t look good. I can use the workaround and start the text on line 2 when I only need one line, but I can’t do it with two lines. Do you have any suggestions on how to handle it when I only need two lines? For the most part it works great, this is a minor annoyance. Oh, and I got the MOGRT from Envato Elements, which is why I don’t have the purchased banner here. Thanks!
Hi, sorry for the incovenience. It was my first template and it definitely needs to get those controls updated for current standards and customers expectations..
In the meantime I made a quick fix for that title which allows you to control the texts position. You can download it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JJ_VITKYtN6jantusbnRHhrT-H44A5GT/view?usp=share_link
I hope this helps till I release an updated version of that template
This badly needs an update. There are some really annoying aspects. For example, say you have a thought bubble with four lines of text, you can’t move the text position relative to the inside of the bubble. This means your block of text is in the wrong position in the bubble, and there’s nothing you can do to center it, making it useless. Also, the “appear” and “vanish” of the bubble makes no sense. It should appear or disappear from the direction of the tail – it’s supposed to come from the character – not the middle of the screen! The default subtle motion of the bubble is incorrect too – it “falls”, rather than “rises” (it should be appearing out of the character!) Did you not test things like this when you made it?
Hi, thank you for the detailed feedback, it’s much appreciated! The text centring experience definitely could be improved on – I’ll write that down to my work planner
The appearance or disappearance of the bubble from the “wrong place” is a nuance I’m aware of – since I do test my templates extensively. Since you can move the tail around, but (at the time) I couldn’t find a way to practically link the anchor point of the animation to the tail – this “nuance” happens, when the “proper perfect and “right”” animation will only appear at a certain scenarios. And still this will be different for each design and use case.
To get these templates on sale, many aspects need to be considered to get an approval, and some other marketplaces even pick at you when the project works without bugs, but when they just don’t like the way it’s structured.. So overall it’s fair to say, that I not only I think of all the aspects of these projects but even overthink them a lot. I wan’t my customers to be happy and for them to find these projects as useful as possible, while also maintaining my sanity and offering these projects at a reasonable price, without perfecting one feature endlessly.
So when making this project not only the animation was considered, and how perfect it should be, but also many other aspects of design, features, technical limitations, usability, performance, practicality, competition in the market, how different marketplaces will review and nick-pit it, and so on.
Sometimes how I want things to ideally animate (from the tip of the tail direction) just isn’t possible to execute in the end when all the other aspects are accounted for. In this case, it was mostly due to technical limitations and my experience level at the time. I’m not sure if it can be done any better even now that I know more about these things (besides converting this to a plugin script). So overall, a compromise got made that just works good enough. Of course, it’s not perfect, but it works for most cases. And sure, If I dedicated a substantial amount of time to this feature, I just might find some convoluted workaround. But would anyone care for it and would it pay back for the time and effort spent?
Nothing is perfect and will never be. We’re all just trying to do our best with the time, resources, opportunities and knowledge we have. That’s what I did those three years ago when this project was done.
Still, though I’m sorry that this template didn’t completely meet your expectations. I will definitely keep your great feedback in my mind when designing my next projects. Thank you!
P.S. seeing that I can’t see any record of you purchasing my project from Videohive (maybe it was too long ago or something else), I’m hoping that you at-least got it from Elements or some other market where I get paid for my work
“But would anyone care for it and would it pay back for the time and effort spent?” – it would mean that people get a product that was worth paying for
Your approach is wrong here. If something doesn’t work properly, you don’t just say “meh, it’s close enough, give me money”. Either get it right, or give people the option to switch off the wrong animations.
But, the number one thing that MUST be fixed is centering (or positioning) of text within the bubble. For you to release this without that feature is very strange. Although you stated the contrary, it’s like you haven’t even used your own product. If you had, you would surely have seen just how important this is?
Anyways, rather than spending all that time on a reply, you could have been working on a fix for text positioning, right?
Best wishes.
The animations are neither wrong nor right. Their function is to animate the text & bubble in and out. They do that, the rest is subject to taste. Again I’m sorry it’s not to your liking.
Although a feature to turn them off could be a nice addition if you want just static bubbles
Thanks for the suggestion!
In my use of this template there was never a need to adjust the text position. Cause the text is always cantered, so it’s kind of unlikely to off canter in that much. Cause centre alignment will just centre it.
Of course in some rare cases when uneven spacing does happen due to use of ”....,,,,,” or different fonts spacing, I though it could be easily solved by adjusting the “Bubble Only Scale” just a shown in the tutorial video. Or just by inserting extra empty spacing before or after some words.
(Btw text paragraph reposition function wouldn’t have fixed text misalignment created by ”......,,,,” as well. )
Again it’s not perfect, but seemed like a right solution for me at the time. It was my first ever project like this
I would probably do it differently now, and I’ll keep in mind to update the project with text reposition function.
As for my comments, I always like to give my customers the time and attention they deserve! Furthermore, I respect my work and other possible customers, and I like to clear up any confusion that can arise.
Once again, thank you for spending so much time trying to help me improve my projects, it’s truly appreciated
Cheers!
“The animations are neither wrong nor right. Their function is to animate the text & bubble in and out. They do that, the rest is subject to taste”
Lol, so, to highlight why this is incorrect, let’s exaggerate things. Imagine the animations whizzed all over the screen, going from small, to large, to small again, flickering on and off… someone says “this is not right”, and you say “nah, it works as an animation – it’s just your taste that’s wrong”.
“there was never a need to adjust the text position”
I can only assume you never have written more than one line of text.
“Of course in some rare cases when uneven spacing does happen due to use of ”....,,,,,” or different fonts spacing, I though it could be easily solved by adjusting the “Bubble Only Scale””
This does not work for “centering” text in the bubble – something that is very, very obvious if you actually try to use the bubbles with more than one line of text.
Look, you’re obviously happy enough with releasing something that has this many faults. That’s up to you. The things I mentioned are not just “personal taste” – they drastically affect the usefulness of your product.
Anyways, enough time has been wasted on this product, and it looks like you have no real interest in fixing it. I’ll just manually do things myself
Cheers.
“This does not work for “centering” text in the bubble – something that is very, very obvious if you actually try to use the bubbles with more than one line of text.”
Yes, that’s why the bubbles have multiple lines of text – for you to insert different liens of text into them instead of into one. Of course if one line is one word, and another one 100 words there will be an issue. Then you just need to make your lines about the same length but spreading different words through out them.
“this many faults” please don’t mislead my customers.
Your 1. – first fault was with “wrong” animation. It was explained, again I’m sorry it’s not up to your taste or liking or “rightness”. You can see the animations in the preview and then can decide if that works for you or don’t. If you change your mind later you can always request a refund. You can do the same if you’re that unhappy with my project, as is sounds like
and 2 – second with text reposition function. As I explained everything works well most times even without it. For other niche cases I wrote partial or full work arounds, till it gets updated eventually. If you’re still facing these issues feel free to record a video of them and send me a link here, I’ll have another look to have a better understanding of whats causing them and how to best resolve them. Thanks!
I do have interest in fixing this project but it takes time. Further more I always prioritise my customers who need help. So I did here, you have the temporary solution for the text position issue. The animation style just can’t be fixed now, and would take even more time to re-do.
If the project with it’s current functions and workaround’s still doesn’t meet your needs, then I’m truly sorry but I suppose this project just wont be the right fit for you at this time. Again you can request a refund. Thanks!
“Then you just need to make your lines about the same length but spreading different words through out them.”
How many times do you need to be told? This does not work. The reason is, no matter how many lines you have, the FIRST line always starts in a fixed position. Your product does NOT allow positioning of text (any size, any number of lines) to the middle of the bubble. That’s the issue.
“please don’t mislead my customers”
Everything I have said is accurate.
Oh sorry, I do get a better picture of what you mean now!
Yes, you can’t move the first line to the centre. But you can always insert the first lines text in the second line – if it’s a one line sentence that you want to appear in a middle of multi line bubble. In Premiere Pro CC 2019 all these lines are separated into separate placeholders. For each line a different placeholder. But in never versions as I now see all the text is one placeholder.
To fix this and still centre one line of text in multi line bubbles, you can try adding empty spaces in the first line. Let me know if this helps as a temporary solution!
Lol, it doesn’t help.
The only thing that will help is for you to change things to allow altering text position within the bubble. The end.
Sorry to hear that! Would you please record a video of your issue? When and how it happens and appears. It would really help me. Thanks!
Is there a way to adjust the text size?
Hi, there should be a scale controller for the text somewhere in the MOGRT controls. I know this can be confusing since the project was made in an earlier version of Premiere Pro when you couldn’t enable font size controls. I hope you’ll find the controller, and also I’m sure that I mention how to change the text size somewhere in the tutorial video
great idea
Thank you!
I’m confused. I can see that this works with Premiere, but how does this work with AE? You state in your details that this works with AE, but it does not.
I’m sorry for the confusion! These files can only be used in Premiere Pro, but for them to work they require you to have After Effects installed on your computer. (since they use some of the After Effects functionality)
If you still need a version for use in After Effects, write me your email and I’ll send it over!
What fonts does this work best with? I’m looking for a Western Cowboy look. It messes a little with Dr Cowboy.
I got it, just change the font size a bit and it will find a place where it works great. Very nice template. I love it. Thanks
Sorry for the late reply! I’m glad that you figured it out and you’re enjoying the template
