Oooops, I meant to say 4GB no MB RAM . Are we still on days?

Well, I’ve gotten feedback from other users who’ve said it’s taken them 16+ hours to render on mire modern computers that are only a year or two old. It takes me around two hours to render on a Mac Pro 6-core 3.33ghz with 16gb RAM .

If your render isn’t time sensitive for a client, it can still be beneficial to purchase the file to learn about how it’s built, since you are just learning AE.

If you decide to purchase, I would suggest rendering the file at half resolution to greatly reduce the amount of time involved.

Thanks again!

I love it….............How long will it take my antique computer to render this. I have an extra computer sitting around, I want to use it for render only. Computer specs are Pentium 4 3ghz hyperthreaded, 800mhz bus, 4mb RAM , 1gb video, 7200rpm 1tb HDD . I am new to AE, that’s why I ask.

Glad you like it! Very good question regarding render time… I wouldn’t be able to give a real accurate estimate on the amount of time, but on a Pentium 4 with 4MB of RAM , it literally might take you days to render that project!

If you decide to purchase the file, just make sure you give yourself plenty of time to let it render.

Despite some slight compatibility problem with the French version of After Effects CS4 , the render is really beautiful and very high quality.

Congratulations for this wonderful work and I advise anyone who is looking for a quality template buy it without hesitation.

Bravo !!!

Could you help me make a report to the resolutions of the iPhone 4 (HD) and the iPhone 3Gs please?

Thank you for your purchase, and thanks a lot for the wonderful review!

Please email me directly so we can discuss what you’d like to do with the iPhone resolutions:

How do I make the color in my logo show. I have a logo that has a gold crown at the top and it only shows as white and black??

Thank you for your puchase!

To the best of my memory, it might be a ramp effect applied to the top layer of the 3D logo, which might be in a buried comp located in the “don’t change these comps” folder within the AE file.

It might be easiest to dig down through the hierarchy of the comps, to see where the color is being applied.

Unfortunately I’ll be out of town for the next couple of days, but if you’re still in need if help, please feel free to email me at tyson (at) tysonfrantz.com, and I will assist as soon as I’m available.

Thanks again,

Is this for CS5 project? When I try Render, it just says “failed” and pops up no error…

I am not sure what is wrong… I am currently using PC CS4 in Windows XP.

The project is built in AE CS3 , so there shouldn’t be any problems opening in CS4 . Have you saved the project as a CS4 project before attempting to render?

buy it to use, rendering time so long… how could i render fast? i need to finish it today

Hi, thanks for your purchase. As explained in the file’s description, the advanced techniques used to get this effect create a long render time. You could try the following:

You can try to speed up the render by turning off depth of field within the Camera Options (in the camera layer of each “scene” comp, twirl open the “Camera Options” and turn off “Depth of Field”).

That should speed up your render, but you won’t get the nice rack focus that gives the animation its depth.

Also, if you don’t absolutely need the 1080p version, render at a smaller resolution like 960×540.

At the end. i try to render each sence, and combine them after finished. it can fast to output the video at least 40%.

Besides easy use, i recommand that speed is important. it waste me much time, but thanks for your job.

Hi Michaellam,

I understand that speed is important, and I’m completely aware that this file has a long render time. (Which is why there is a disclaimer regarding long render times on the product page)

However, to achieve such an advanced, professional look with After Effects, without using any 3D software, sometimes you have to sacrifice time for quality.

Thanks again for your purchase, and I hope you enjoy the file. (Other than the render time of course :) )

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing your upcoming video for a workaround.

I tried turning off all of the DoF settings in the 4 cameras and the 15 second clip still calculated as taking over 16 hours to render with 6GB of RAM and 2 processors dedicated to AE. This does shorten the render time to about 1/4 of what it would have been with DoF on, but it is still way too long and of course without the DoF effect it loses all of its spectacular results.

Just out of curiosity, is that render time on the 1080 comp, or the 720 comp? I was running some tests today by rendering the 1080 comp at half resolution (960×540) and that was improving render time as well.

I too can’t render the file “as is” with the default settings. I am using AE CS5 with 8GB RAM on a new iMac.

After 14 hours the file is less than 25% rendered so I had to stop it.

Will try your suggestions that you gave the other two purchasers and see if it helps.

Love the file but the render times are just too long to be practical (using the file’s default settings).

Render times will definitely always depend on your machine, but as mentioned above, sometimes longer render times are needed to achieve professional looking animations.

I’m planning to post a video as a workaround for this, so I’ll keep everybody posted.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR

Please read the FAQs if you have any questions regarding render times!

Just purchased this.. As previously mentioned this tears my system apart!

Quad Core Mac Pro with 4GB RAM . 10 Hour Render time? That normal? Multiprocessing and OpenGL Switched on.

Thanks for your purchase.

Yeah, it’s an intensive render because of the techniques used to accomplish the 3D effect within After Effects. Unfortunately, to achieve such a polished look, there’s just no way around it.

Your machine should be quite capable, but would benefit from a memory upgrade to at least 8GB. Are you using CS4 or CS5 ? If so, try turning the “Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously” option on within After Effects… that usually speeds things up as well.

I have a 6-Core 3.33GHz Mac Pro w/16GB RAM , and the project rendered in 1.5 hours.

If you turn the Depth of Field off within the Camera layers, your render time should dramatically decrease.

Sometimes it takes some extra time to render a beautiful animation!

Feel free to email me directly at tyson(at)motionrevolver.com if you have further questions or would like to discuss the project in better detail.

Nice work man, looks great 8-)

this thing is absolutely destroying my core2duo on my ‘09 macbook like nothing iv ever seen. is that pretty normal?

Hi there, thanks for your purchase.

Because 3D is so difficult to achieve in AE, it’s a fairly render intensive project. To get the 3D effect, there are over 100 layers positioned in 3D space, so that adds to the render time. The one thing that is probably killing your machine is the depth of field and focal blur.

You can try to speed up the render by turning off depth of field within the Camera Options (in the camera layer of each “scene” comp, twirl open the “Camera Options” and turn off “Depth of Field”).

That should speed up your render, but you won’t get the nice rack focus that gives the animation its depth.

I’ve never seen file sell so fast o.0 Congratz!!!!!

I know, and thank you! It’s taken me by surprise! I would have never guessed this project would have been so popular so soon.

Damn! Selling like hotcakes!!

I know! I’m surprised it’s been doing so well right out of the gate.

Nice camera movement!

Thank you!

This is great! Very well done MotionRevolver!

Thanks, glad you like it!

Nice1 MotionRevolver ;)

Thank you!

Did you use Shatter for 3D effect?

Take that Cinema4D!!!! :D

No Shatter, actually about 100 layers positioned in 1-pixel increments on top of each other in 3D space. The effect is made to look more realistic by using the camera’s focal blur and aperture settings.

Its hard to describe this. Just perfect!

Thanks! And I love your new icon with the Santa hat!
