Just a quick tip that might fix it. Sometimes the plugin is has problems finding the model of the light bulb from your drive. Have you extracted/ unzipped the project file before opening it in After Effects?

If yes, you can simply re-link this. Just go inside one of the compositions, such as “Long Version – text – customise your title here”, and click on the element 3d layer. Than from the effects controls panel, click the button named ‘scene setup’.

A new window pops up; here go to File > Relink Scene Files. And from the window that pops up press: select folder, and just select the unzipped folder that you downloaded from videohive, and click ok. The the plugin should be able to locate it, and it should start showing on your text.

Hi Emily, from the screenshot you provided everything seems to be well within the file, except from the version. As you can see from the blue text at the top there is an update pending. I would suggest clicking on this text and updating the plugin and trying again, since videocopilot (the makers of the plugin), have updated it recently to be compatible with recent software. Make sure that you don’t update to V2 but to V1.6.

Do you have element 3D V1 plugin installed? Note that there are two versions of this plugin and, as mentioned in the item description the project is compatible with the first one.

I am using Adobe CC and I have Element 3D V2.2 installed. So should I revert back to V1 in order to see the light bulbs on the text?

Yes, the project is compatible with version 1. So if you have version 1, I would suggest reverting to it, and the project should work correctly. Then obviously you can easily go back to version 2 when you are ready from the project.

I don’t think it is still available for sale, since the new version has been released. A suggestion would be to maybe contact videocopilot’s support via email, and ask them to hand you the earlier version, since you have already purchased version 2. They are very helpful and usually they respond in a timely manner to any queries I have.

What did you use to ascend lamp?

Element 3d plugin is used to be able to use 3d elements such as the lamp and text.

The rendering time depends on your pc specifications and can’t really be changed, although it should take only a few hours maximum when using typical pc configurations. You can reduce the final resolution, and quality of the rendering to speed it up, but this will impact the final quality of the project and is not something we recommend.

As for working with it you can turn the preview resolution down to a quarter, this will help speeding up the process. More information here:

Hi, Yes i have Element 3D installed:) I Replased the light Bulbs in element 3D and now I see them. But they are just all over the place and not following the text. How do I fixe that. I can sent you a screenshot to you email, so you can se what i mean:) Thanks

Sorry to write so many messages, but I think I found the bug – at least for me. When I try to write more than one line of titles, when I start typing on the line below, thats when the lights shrink and everything gets messed up.

Hopefully I am the only one with this problem, but if not, maybe its something worth looking at.

Ah, ok that makes sense. The template was designed and can only work with one line of text, due to plugin limitations.

It can work with more the one line, but it has to be re-adjusted. For this some AE knowledge is required, basically the scale of the light bulbs and their position has to be re-worked to fit the 2 lines properly.

This is a limitation of the plugin itself, and there’s no way to make it work with more lines by default. But it should work fine with 1 line of text.

I just downloaded the file and checked it and its working like it should on all the After Effects versions its compatible with.

It looks like it’s a problem with your element 3d plugin. Are you sure this is installed correctly? Also apart from checking your plugin, you can also try and re-download the template, maybe it got corrupted while download.
