1. I don’t see in the video above where the “shaking hands” is…can you tell me where to find it? (do you plan on adding any other interactions with two or more people in future files)
2. how hard would it be to make a real estate sign (like one found in yards) that sways in the wind (back and fourth)
1. Unfortunately there is no preview for a couple of scenes which come with the project. I simply didn’t use them all in the preview video, including the shaking hands scene. You can find this scene inside the .aep project file, yet it is not seen in the preview video as is with 1 or 2 other additional scenes. And yes I’m planning on adding some more multiple character scenes in the future, but I can’t give you an estimation on when that will be just yet.
2. Not that hard if you have average skills in After Effects. I could definitely add something like it to this template.
Thank you for responding. Definitely considering this for use in our company. We like that you continually have updated it, and added objects that people have asked for.
Thanks for your kind words! I will do my best to try and update this again as soon as possible. I already have a list of requests and will include your requests as well.
because users are able to add and drop “scenes”, am I correct that this template can be stretched for any length of time needed?
Yes. You can use up to 32 scenes, but you don’t have to. You can use only 1 scene if you want and this is all really easy to adjust. The scenes can be arranged in any order you prefer and you can even duplicate a scene and use it twice if you want to. You could perhaps time-stretch each scene if you really want to control timing to the second.
Also the more experienced AE user could drag in some of the pre-made character animations and create their own scenes from scratch. Add some text layers or graphical elements of your own and you can start building even a more unique video.
The shaking hands scene is now in the preview video. I have also added a “real estate” scene. Please check the preview(near the ending).
Very good Job!! see my music if you like
Thanks
Hi ! first of all I really admire your work, it is amazing ! I have a short question, I am about to start designing a project for a client and I need a ” zombie” character . It is possible to make modifications to the character clothes and change the skin tone to something like green, for example ?
Hi Coreaux, thanks for the kind words! You can easily change skin, hair, eyes and clothes color. So no problem with making him green.
But to be honest.. to really get a ’’worn-out zombie look’’ would probably require you to make some ripped pieces of clothing and maybe a bit more disrupted face. The latter is not really possible so you will get a very clean looking zombie.
However since I think zombies are quite cool and I will note this down as a request and include a zombie character in a future update. When this update will come however, is currently hard to say.
Thanks so much for your sincere answer my friend, I think I will buy your template anyway since it is so helpful for any kind of project and I will stay tuned for the next update
. keep up with the good work !
Thanks Coreaux
I have included a zombie character in version 3. Please see the preview video(near the end) for an example.
Man you are awesome ! is it possible to change the zombie clothes or to make a female zombie also ?
You are able to change its hairstyle into female ones and change the hair color through the Character Creator. The rest is not changeable at the moment since this is an ‘instant-character’ created for a quick and easy solution. Unless of course you are very proficient in After Effects and know how to change shapelayers and delete some of the expressions. This would require a certain skills and I wouldn’t advise it if you are quite new to AE

I want a buy this kit, but I was wonder if can i change the height of the character (to make kids and parents).
Cheers,
Good question!
Yes it is possible. However, it is not a build in feature in the character creator. All the characters and their animations are inside different compositions, so you could scale those compositions down and make different sizes of characters if you want to. All you have to do is go to your desired scene and hit the ‘Shy’ button to reveal the character for that scene and scale the composition down.
I might be able to add a feature like this in to the character creator in the future, also with some more childish looking elements, but that might take a while to complete. So for now scaling down the characters is your best bet.
I just buy it… Incredible, just one thing… After Effects CC is asking me for Character Creator preset or effect. I cant modify the characters using the main controller (just under each compostion)
I cant find that preset on the files
Hey thanks for your purchase
Have you watched the #1 Introduction.mp4 video tutorial? You’ll have to install both .jsx files in the Scripts folder prior to starting the project in order for it to work properly. And you’ll need to reboot AE once.
Please watch the video tutorial which will explain you how to do this. If you need any more help please email me through my profile page so I can be of better assistance.
*EDIT
While reading your comment again, I advise you to watch the #3.5 Creating Your Character [with Version 2].mp4 video tutorial. I think you are trying to change the character looks with only one Main Contoller. However, every character has a seperate controller so you can have about 12 different looking characters on screen! This was updated in V2 as it was a much requested feature.
I have added some additional child elements to the new version 3 of this template and also show in a video tutorial how you can create smaller characters. I have also included a ‘family’ scene. You can re-download en reinstall the scripts if you’d like to make us of all this.
Hello, great work. I have a question. I can duplicate the Placeholders but i can not change the File to it. Example : Duplicate Placeholder3 and i get Placeholder4 but with the same Picture or Film. what i must do?
Thnaks
Hey Mario, thanks for your kinds words!
Since the placeholders itself are animated to fold in, this needs a little bit more work then just simply duplicating them. We actually need to dive in and copy the masks and effects from the existing placeholders, in order to get this to actually work. Please note that there is a difference between a placeholder composition and a placeholder footage.
To make a truly new placeholder comp you have to go to your “Project Window” navigate to the “Placeholders” folder and duplicate both the “Placeholder 3” composition and the actual “Placeholder 3” footage from there (CTRL + D or CMD +D on a Mac).
Now you have created a new “Placeholder 4” composition and you can drag that in the timeline. Open up this “Placeholder 4” composition and you will see that the old “Placeholder 3” footage is still in there. You will need to drag the new “Placeholder 4” footage into the new “Placeholder 4” composition you have just duplicated and apply all the “Placeholder 3” footage its keyframes, masks and effects on the newly created “Placeholder 4” footage. After that you can delete the “Placeholder 3” footage and you have a brand new placeholder.
If you find this explanation confusing I can make a video for you.
Wow, thanks for the quick response. Sorry but my English is not very good and i don’t realy understand that.
Please email me through my profile page. This way we can discuss this more easily. I will probably have to make a small video tutorial on how to do this.
Hello, ok i have understand it works. Absolute great work. My Tip “Buy”.
Thanks man, I have just recorded a video for you and will be uploading it to vimeo if you still need it? I will send u the link in the video to your email address.
this is a very useful and awesome pack !
Thanks
Hi we are new to Affect Effects. How long would it take to learn to alter a few things like wording and pictures?
This project is beginner friendly and I think it won’t take too much of your time. Changing the texts and colors can be done really easily as I show in the video tutorials.
I think as a beginner you can achieve some nice results within 1 or 2 hours. And if you need any help or advice you can always add me on Skype or send me an email.
For your next update, if you could include a camera object, that would be great. I’m doing spots for a number of photographers and this would have been perfect if there was a camera object and “take a photograph” action.
Thanks for your suggestion. An update is already coming this weekend (uploading as we speak). So I will include your request in the next update!
Hey I just wanted to let you know I have updated the template and there is now a camera with a take photograph action included. Check the end of the video preview for an example.
awesome work!!!! love it
Thanks steu
Hey, great work on the template, it’s really nicely designed.
One question – I need to edit the body shapes of the character (I have to make many different characters) and I had just planned to edit the shapes that comprise the torso etc. When I do this though (in the individual body parts comps) I get weird fracturing in the character creator comp. I can’t figure out why this is happening, can you shed some light? Thanks!
Hey kyra thanks for your purchase! To tell you the truth, this template was not designed to alter the actual curves and shapes of the bodies. I advise everybody to stick to the Character Creator, where it is already possible to achieve many different looking characters by changing clothing, hairs, additional elements and colors. It is not possible to make them look fatter, skinnier or bulkier.
The fracturing happens because of the puppet’s tool mesh only covers a certain area, and I haven’t found a way to prevent this from happening. If every character had a different build, and meanwhile the puppet tool pins are always on the same spot, you just get weird fracturing.
So personally I think what you are trying to achieve is pretty advanced stuff and goes beyond my knowledge of AE. I guess the only way you could do this, is unlink all the characters from the puppet tools and reshape their bodies and then create new puppet pins and bones again. Be warned because this process will take a lot of time and you can really get lost in the maze of expressions that are used.
As we speak I’m working for an update to this template. I’m adding in 12 newly designed character outfits that I hope to have finished pretty soon. Maybe this will help to add more diversity to your characters?
Thanks for the speedy and detailed reply. I see exactly what you mean, I hadn’t noticed the puppet reshaping applied. Unfortunately for me that limits how useful the template will be for this project (as body diversity is absolutely necessary across about 30 characters!) but hopefully I’ll be able to use George and all the other great elements in a different project soon.
Thanks for your understanding kyra. Good luck with your project!
|/\| [] |/\| ! How could I miss this ??
Hehe you didn’t miss it in the end! It’s only been online for 3 days
Great work!
Thanks!
Are you able to have multiple characters on screen at once?
Good question. Well you can duplicate your initial character as many times as you want but you aren’t able to have them all look differently within the same project. All characters will be linked to the character creator at all times so once you change the values in the character creator, all characters will change.
The only way to have this feature would be to create an unique character creator/controller for each character, which will obviously take some time to create.
For now, you could of course export a character as a PNG sequence or .mov with an alpha channel and add it back in to the project.
I hope to update this template with some more character types and graphical elements pretty soon and I will take a look at adding some separate character creators as well.
Thanks! I’ll find a way to make it work. Looking forward to the update!
Updated! Please re-download your purchase from your downloads page. You can now have up to 12 different looking characters on screen. You might need to reinstall the .jsx scripts though.
Have fun
This looks amazing! Question: are there any female characters in this pack?
Thanks! Yes there are 3 female haircuts and also a female eyelash addition to the eyes available.
Nice work! Very cool. Thanks for linking me on “Bottle Jam.” I’ll return the favor.
Thanks, I really like your music
Great work mate!
Thanks
A teacher-style character would be great too! Looks fantastic!
Thanks for your suggestion! Will note it down.
Hi sletts02! I just wanted to let you know that this template is now updated and that it includes your request of a teacher-style character. Feel free to check the description page for a preview.
Very nice work. Good luck.
