Thanks folks. Glad you like.

@Unique… so easy to hit Report instead of Reply. The mods should change that! Now I’m really curious about Elements’ hidden comment….

rendering time? talk me lol how long my friend?

Hi MurderToys…

Let’s get nerdy! :nerdy: :)

At full res (1920×1080) full quality with native motion blur (16 iterations), the long version took about 5 hours on my computer.

At half res (960×540) full quality with native motion blur (16 iterations), long version took about 2 hours

Without motion blur, they are 1.5 hours and 20 minutes respectively.

I also did a test rendering with force motion blur (16 iterations). Force motion blur is the technically correct way to render After Effects 3D comps. That weighed in at a hefty 17 hours, but made so little visual difference, that I would stick with AE native motion blur.

There’s a whole section about optimising previewing and rendering in the user guide. (not just useful for this project).

Render times were measured in CS4 on an 8-core Mac with 16GB RAM .

Hope that helps.

by the way – you can also use my cunning edit mode while you’re working on the project. This flattens out the 3D text temporarily and makes previewing much quicker.

Now and then Ben comes to show us who is ” the daddy ” here 8-) ... Excellent work man…
