Hey there i have a Problem. After importing the ink effect everything in the folder “textures and more” has this Coloured Error screen. I can´t see the brown backgrounds or the ink effects. (I can see the ink drops in the folder on my desktop tho) Please advice. Thank u.

How does the PHOTO EDIT composition affect the FINAL COMP (VID)? My FINAL COMP (VID) displays fine on my Picture 2 when Previewing it. However, when I render the FINAL COMP (VID), Picture 2 shows as a negative image after the ink effect. While looking at the PHOTO EDIT comp, it previews negative in that space as well. I double, triple, and quadruple checked that I am rendering the FINAL COMP (VID), but it renders differently than the actual preview.

I see in your tutorial, it should have no effect. I deleted the PHOTO EDIT comps and the FINAL COMP (VID) still renders a negative image during the ink effect even though the preview is a positive image. ...and it is only one image – the rest render fine.

I’m thinking of buying, is there anyway to change the “paper” background, lets say from the tan/brown color to a lighter or more white color?

Yes, I recommend you use an adjustment layer on top of the finished video to change the color.

Hi Carl,

Great job! Love ‘Ink’.

Can you tell me how to apply the ink trace layers alone to moving footage? So, no background paper etc – just applying the ink effect to a sequence of moving film (say 3mins long). If so, what are the layers I would need to copy and import to a piece of footage?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello! Thanks a lot for purchasing it!

for starters, if you don’t want the “freeze frame” effect do this:

To keep the video from freezing go to VIDEO EDIT and select one of the “FROZEN” layers (green). Open it and select the only layer. Now hit “U” to display the keyframes and you’ll see only one: a Time Freeze keyframe. Delete it.

Now let’s say you did that with “PIC 4 /FROZEN/”. Then go to the PASSES folder and open the folder Reveal4. Now open the comp “R4_Picture Levels”. Do the same with the layer (delete the Time Freeze keyframe). And that is it. Repeat for any other Reveals you want to keep the video moving.

As for merging it with the footage without background paper.. I just opened the project and messed a bit with it to see what would be the best way. And to be honest, the simplest way it’s quite easy:

Make a 3 minutes ink render with the effects applied. You just need to choose one of the sequences (for example picture 1 / reveal 1) and extend all the comps on it to last 3 minutes. Put your footage on “picture 1” and render the whole thing. Now get this ink video and your original video and put one on top of the other in a new comp. Play with the blending modes until it looks good for you (for example ink on top on multiply). That looks pretty good on my end!

Let me know if it works!

Hi, this looks close to what I need. Does it work in the other way, I mean, from the picture drawn effect to the normal video?

Yes, with some re-ordering of the layers you can easily achieve that effect. Thanks for the interest!

Amazing job! Very original!

thanks Montserrat!

Blizzard used something similar to this for their Diablo 3 opening cinematic! Not sure which one came first, yours or Blizzards but this project definitely looks fantastic! Thank you!

... I’m a little bit aggravated because the videos aren’t very helpful beyond super basic editing of this template. My question is how to I make the art passes motion and not freeze frame??

Hey David, I can only cover basic editing in most of the cases. Deep changes to the template are always a plus but the possibilities are endless and I cannot make a video for every possible idea.

Don’t feel aggravated, you can always ask me!

Thanks a lot for purchasing man.

Is it possible to have the ink effect on moving video, or is it just on stills? Very nice work either way!

Thanks! It will work on video. The template is prepared to freeze at the frame of your choice, but you can override that and keep the effect with the video playing

Thanks for fine execution of effects! And here my vision of effect of Ink! own production: http://youtu.be/weVYwTiod9M

Hey thanks for sharing! I am glad that Ink! was helpful, good editing and great choice of pictures! I like the one with the wet road and the cars when it turns into ink.

Hello Carl, I can not fix, you may give me a download link with the right project?

For as long as you have upgraded exhaust the same project from download?

Yeah, you should download the same project from your downloads page. Thanks!

Ok, drain immediately. Thank you.

I bought it but it does not work! Missing files and links tells me after effects cs6

How can I do?

Hello Richard, and thanks for purchasing. Missing files and links means that the connection between the assets and the file has been broken. To reconnect files right click on them on the project window (they are in the “Textures & More” folder), select, ‘replace footage’ and go to the footage folder that you downloaded. Select the one with the same same and you are good to go. Honestly sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll upload an update with the issue fixed right away. CarlB

super job on this one, amazing effect

This is just incredible!

It GREAT! But, no one want to hear or see a 30 min tutorial. If you do make a shorter one, send it over. I feel it could had been 15 mins. Now, I have to find the time to pay attention to a half an hour TUTORIAL on how to apply these affects. Yikes!

Thanks for purchasing! About the tutorial, disregard the last 15 min, they are only extra customization ideas and tips, but you can easily do with the first 15. Thanks for the feedback tough, I was already thinking about doing several short videos escalating in customization options.

Man There Is Nothing To Say I Am Stunned There Is No Comparison To Such A Work ! Excellent !!! :)

Beautiful results here, Carlos! The effect is amazing! Thank you so much for using my music in the preview! :)

Thank you Andy! Wouldn’t be the same without it.

Hey lots of thanks for sharing! It’s great to see how the templates are used, even more if they look as cool as this.

thanks to u man
