I just bought this and have a few questions:
When I open it in After Effects CS5.5 on Windows 8 I get the following 3 messages:
1. After Effects: This project must be converted from 9.0.3 (Windows) and will open as an untitled project. The original file will be unchanged.
2. This project contains 57 references to missing effects. Please install the following effects to restore these references. (“Optical Flares”).
3. The following layer dependencies are missing: Text layer: Font family: ‘CenturyGothic’, Font style: ‘Bold’ Text layer: Font family: ‘CenturyGothic’, Font style: ‘Regular’

Thank you for your purchase! Sure, they are fixable.
1. It is a common message, when you open a project from a previous version to a newer version of After Effects. After Effects is just doing a conversion from CS4 to CS5.5 project format and it doesn’t affect the project in any way.
2. It seems that you don’t have Optical Flares plugin installed on your computer. In you archive, there is a “News Package_Pre-rendered Optical Flares.aep” project with Optical Flares layers pre-rendered. Please open this project instead.
3. I’m working in Windows 7, and I’m not sure if Century Gothic font is installed in Windows 8. However, it is often installed by MS Office. You can download a free trial here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/home-premium/

1. OK no problem.
2. So as I understand it now, ONLY the Optical Flares layers are pre-rendered, and these do not contain elements that would be editable even if I had the Optical Flares Plugin – so I am not losing options or quality this way? I found the information on your product page confusing as it implied to me that the project can be FULLY rendered without plugins. That was the reason I chose it over your other News projects that do require the Optical Flares plugin. I would not have bothered you with this question if the information was clearer.
3. Century Gothic is not installed in Windows 8, and it is not in the list of Microsoft applications that install it here

So I started the trial of Microsoft Office 365 Home Premium, which is 99 USD per year. It took me about an hour to research the options and install it. The question is, if I let the trial expire and do not purchase the full product, will the fonts still be available? In that case what would be the closest available font match?
Additional question: Do you have a more detailed step by step tutorial that the one that comes with the downloads? Or do you have a link to a relevant After Effect YouTube/Vimeo based tutorial?
I apologize for the late replay. Indeed, the two projects are exactly the same, only the Optical Flares layers are pre-rendered and you are not losing options or quality this way. I’m sorry for confusion, I forgot to add this in the description.
I’m not sure if the fonts will still be available after the trial expire, but as an alternative you can use the free Didact Gothic font: http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Didact+Gothic

Within this template, can you add a custom logo (.png/.jpg) for the graphic overlays or can you only change the text of “NEWS, SPORTS, 24 Hour News Channel, etc” to fit into the current news logo?
In other words, can the logo be changed, or is simply a text overlay? Thanks!

You text says we need CYCORE, but as far as I know, CYCORE is not out for the CC version, right? Then what ?

Thank you for your interest in our work! Sure, Cycore plugins are included in After Effects CC, and you can use the project. I have added that note only for the previous trial versions of After Effects (CS4/CS5/CS5.5). For these versions, Cycore plugins comes bundled only with the full version of After Effects, not the trial version. Starting from CS6, Cycore is included in the trial version as well.

I am about to purchase your package but just have a couple of questions. I have worked with three other AE templates with great success, but this will be my first with Chroma Key and Background/Foreground application, is there tutorial on how to shoot the anchor talent? (It appears talent is shot dead center) Also, I would like to include a laptop as part of the Anchors props, is this possible?

But I could guide you through the process and help you with the keying of the anchor talent in After Effects. Thank you for your kind words and for your interest in our project! Truly appreciated! For both licenses you will receive the same project. After the purchase, the project can be downloaded from the “Download” section of your profile page, and includes the After Effects template and a video tutorial.
Extended License doesn’t mean that one who has bought the project have exclusive rights on it. The difference between the two licenses is that Extended License is for TV / Cinema / DVD broadcast or distribution, and Regular License is for web usage. However, it’s one license per project for both license types. A single licence entitles you to a single customisation. You can then use that customisation how you want to within the bounds of your licence. i.e. on the internet if it’s a regular licence or for TV / Cinema / DVD broadcast if it’s extended. You can put your single customisation on the front of multiple videos as an ident, for example. More info about licenses can be found here: http://videohive.net/licenses#extended
I’m sorry, the project includes only News/Sport/Weather and Breaking News Openings. However, it could be easily adapted for any other Openings.

In this AE files, which areas are editable? The headlines but also the logo? Or are the logo’s fixed?

Thank you for your interest in our work! The logo, all texts and On-Air graphic elements (including headlines) are editable in After Effects. The only pre-rendered files are the spinning globe and the glass element from Sport opening.

Since i notice there is a lot of 3-D globes and text like in my last package i purchased. However that package takes long to render because it renders the raw 3 -D every time. how is the rendering on this project?

I assume you have purchased the other project which is completely made in After Effects. Indeed, the other one need more resources and it takes long to render. In this one, there are pre-rendered elements and don’t take so long.

It’s so perfectly done that it may hinder sales. Buyers may think it is the transmission of a channel and not a template.
