Hi, I will start by saying that I don’t know exactly what you mean by “proprietary maps” If the answer bellow doesn’t answer your question you will need to explain this term better for me.

This template has been build using public domain maps and this ensures that you will not need any additional license or attribution when using this template.

For example, companies like google or bing have maps which everyone can view but if you need to use them for commercial purpose they have fees and you need to license those maps.

This license requirement doesn’t apply to this video template because I’ve not used proprietary maps.

The only license you need to conform too is one of the two licenses provided by envato once you have purchased the template. Either the Regular License or the Extended License. The difference between these two license is if your video will be viewed by the viewer by paying a fee. For example if the video is shown on netflix, then you need the extended license. If it is shown on youtube, then regular license is enough

it works on newer version offcourse. But the point of this template is to offer a map that is royalty free. Most of the maps are proprietary. To use maps from google or bing you need to pay for the license. But because I don’t have the satellites that google has the resolution is limited in some cases. If you need to use the template as it is shown in the video preview then that is fine but if you need to go to street level that is not possible.

Sorry to hear you got the same issue, this is strange because I can’t reproduce it on my side. Please allow me to verify this in more detail. I don’t understand why Adobe messed the opening of a project in the latest version. The template doesn’t have plugins or anything crazy, only the default After Effects modules.

When you have saved the project that now takes more time to open, what version did you have used?

Opening the unmodified template unzipped from the archive does the same thing?

Also please try this. Open After Effects with the default empty project then instead of using the File Open menu to open the project, drag and drop the aep file in the Project Asset area. Did importing the aep still takes more time?

Can you please check if new After Effects version didn’t perhaps got blocked by the Windows defender/antivirus? That software runs in background and sometimes blocks various programs without telling the user.

I didn’t receive an email yet, but when you have time let me know how long it actually took for the project to open, Maybe Adobe calculated the time remaining a bit too lose

Unfortunately those were the max resolutions I could go because I’ve had to pack a lot of maps and textures as you have noticed. I don’t have a higher resolution image already made, but I’m always available to create custom maps as a freelance request using envato studio.

If you need a map that show a particular area and have certain locations and features I can create one. The cost depends of the complexity of the request

The maps I create can be royalty free if needed for commercial purposes because I will use only the resources that allows for this.

Or if your project allows for use of google maps or similar services we can also use those maps. But is important to understand that google or bing or similar are not free, and the licenses of use of those providers should be read carefully.

Do not understand how to use lines – how to make them curved? There is no anything in video tutorials about lines or I missed this part?

Yes, I’ve received the mail message, I will answer there also. And no, this is new to me, and is not normal, not sure what could be the issue.

First, off course, make sure the entire zip file archive is unzipped to a folder on your computer.

Few things you could try,

instead of opening the file directly, open After Effects with the empty project as it does by default, then drag and drop into After Effects the .aep file from the template. So not use the open file menu command but drag and drop into the project area the .aep file.

If this step doesn’t work, try downloading an older version of After Effects and see if that version works, maybe Adobe messed up something with the newest version.

Unfortunately, when doing professional work one need to stick with software that works reliable instead of upgrading to newer versions that may provide little to non benefit to what one actually does in the day to day work environment.

This is the exact opposite of what Adobe does where they upgrade their software just to justify people continuing to pay for subscriptions and force people to have unstable software that cost them time and money to figure out what something simple that worked till then doesn’t work anymore

For most of the templates I’m working on for clients, 99% of cases I’m able to save them back to the ancient but reliable CS6 version and the templates work even better with that version.

Anyway, apart this rant, this is the first time I’m hearing about this, can let me know if the suggestions above worked.

Well is a similar workflow, you don’t need the Map Kit tutorial mentioned here, the one included in Europe Map Kit shows how to do it for that specific template. Having this also would just create confusion

I’m not sure why the changes don’t show up. Please let me know on the Europe Map kit comment area what specific map you want to change and in what composition you have changed the cities names. There should be no reason to not work

1. this map kit doesn’t have state borders but you can download vector maps of India that have states borders or even finer locations borders and add them to the map if you need them

2. most important cities are marked but you can also rename or hide them, move the names of the cities or create others as needed

3. you can change the colors provided, those colors had been created using AE effects panel

Just to be clear, note that for making the changes above you need to know After Effects these are not automatic options included with the template.

How I can put a border on the 3D world map ? knowing that i’m using zoom in

If you want to add custom borders you can use the Pen tool to draw a shape layer. Make sure no layer is selected (else it will create a mask on that layer) Then draw the border shape you need. I suggest checking a few tutorials about shape layers because there are options that can be customized, or how to animate it. You can use layer styles in conjunctions with shape layers to make them look nice.

For Asia you can use the Full World Map.

No, the template doesn’t use the Pro version. If I recall correctly the version that the template use is Font Awesome 4

Please check the readme file from the template. There should be a link to the font download page included.

Ignore all the warnings and messages of getting the 5th edition.

The 4th and 5th are two different fonts so After Effects will not recognize them as being the same

After you have installed the correct fonts and you stop getting the error message you could edit the text layers to use the 5th version if you need a certain icon that is not present in the 4th version.

Looking at google maps it appears that you need to be really zoom in to the area. I’m not sure what you need to present but maybe this template may not be what you need if you want to show the island on that bay. QuickTime is not required anymore for this template. While from your message is not clear what the actual error is, there are big chances that After Effects just can’t find the files to import them inside the template.

Please make sure all files of the templates are unzipped correctly in a dedicated folder and then open the template from that folder. Do not open the template ae file directly from zip archive.

The Map Kit includes only countries, when I’ve designed the template I had to draw a line, unfortunately if we enter oversee territories and similar, it would had taken too much time and work.

Thank You I’m glad you like it. I’m not sure if I understood correctly the question but if you want to draw custom shapes over the maps is possible off course. Is all made in After Effects you can add any layer that is supported by the application including the shape layers.
