First of all Congrats with making such a AE masterpiece. I bought it a few days ago, and i am having some issues with the transparency. (i’m a After effects newbie) Some of the pictures i integrated turned out to dark. Could u please explain how and where i can change the opacity for the photo’s i used?

Yea.. well, you could try adjusting with Curves or something to darken the midtones..
Brilliant concept! I’ve been making a company video presentation with your template and everything works great, pretty straightforward to use for a CS5 newbie.
Question: is there any easy way to extend the show length of each placeholder? By this I don’t mean to add more placeholders but to actually extend the playing time of each? I found that some of them are a tad too short to present content that requires longer viewing.

Extending the length of the placeholders can be done by time-remapping or stretching them on the timeline, but this will only work if you are displaying photos and not videos, as the videos will get stretched too…
You see, the hands are actual video-footage, and these are simply too quick for some uses..
Ive been thinking about creating a new Hands with longer placeholders, but I havent gotten that far yet

But I cant seem to get the music to work though and dont know how to extract it as a playable video

So, you are saying that you dont really know how to render a video out from AE?
The guide describes how to insert the music (you insert it into the yellow layer on the timeline ‘Music’). However, in AE you wont hear the music when you press play (space). That doesn’t mean its not there – it will be there when you render the video. You can however hear the music by ram-previewing the comp.
And to render the video, select the comp ‘Hands_Output’ and choose ‘Composition’ – ‘Add to Render Queue’.
Now your video is ready to render.
Next to ‘Output module’, click the yellow text ‘Lossless’ and choose the settings you want. Click the box ‘Format Options…’ and choose the video codec you want. I do not recommend the default ‘Animation’, as this is very heavy to playback on some computers. Choose ‘Apple ProRes 422 (LT)’, ‘H.264’ or some other… You choose!
ALLSO MAKE SURE THAT ‘AUDIO OUTPUT ’ IS CHECKED .

Just a few things im struggling with, this may be the stupidest question you have had but i’ve never used this program before.
When your done editing it, how do you export it as a playable video? Also how do you go about inserting images? I can edit the text and everything, just don’t understand how you insert things.
The music for example. I bought the music that goes with this, I just dragged it from my folder into the music tab, but it doesnt appear to be playing when i go to Composition > Preview > RAM Preview

Hello mate!
I purchased your “hands” project a few months ago inside the “Ultimate After Effects Bundle” pack.
Even tho i didnt knew anything about the AfterEffect (or whatever) – the moment i saw that pack, and particulary your “hands” animation in it – i just jump in and purchased. I just knew that one day i will use that whole pack, and especially your “hands”.
So. Here comes that day. We working on a new start-up project. And we use your “hands” on it. So, what can i say mate, you are great. Great piece of art. Nice touch of design.
QUESTION : So far so good. I get the point how to use the project, how to modify the holders and other things.
But there is one point. Right now ive decided to run a “test” rendering proccess. And.. jeeeezz.
My project is alrready rendering for like 3 hours. And its like 5hours left more! I know, i dont have a supper-dupper PC. Its only a quad-core i3 intel (SONY WAIO ) with only 4GB of RAM .
But jeeez… 8 hours to render the 1min long AE project. Is this kinda normal?
And somehow the AE didnt let me the export the file in the “FLA” formal. SO ive stuck with the only option of “render” – where i leave the default settings of “best quality”.
But muh…. maybe i did something wrong? 8 hours is a “normal” time for rendering?
Basically all i need to do: I can do all my work inside the AE. And all i need is to put that project onto YouTube. No further third-party modifications is needed. What can you advice?
Is the “rendering” option is for me? Or there is some other way to get the things done?

Well, you do not have a super-duper computer.. But the mac I created the template on wasn’t that much better: Macbook Pro 2.6Ghz i7 4GB RAM . Hands took 2-3 hours to render on that mac..
Have you tried any of the other templates from the bundle? I know for sure that my Hands isn’t the heaviest one of them regarding rendering.
How are you rendering and what settings are you choosing?

I paid for this and am missing the “output” files… so there’s no hand clips showing in my video? I read the guide and it said there’s supposed to be an input and output folder, but I am missing the output?

It is possible to add images, yes! It should be simple for one not used to AE.. And no, atm I dont do custom work, sry..
