Is it possible to have the flame start from a pinpoint and fan out to the standard flame width after it has been emitted?
Basically, I am looking to add this to an arrow, and would like for it to be as wide as the arrow at the emitter, and then fan out to standard width.
You should be able to adjust the emission region in the emitter section, you can change the emitter type to a box in Trapcode Particular. Also in a couple of days we are releasing version 2 it’s a free update to anyone who has downloaded this item, so that might be helpful for you.
I can’t use your file with the last AE CC and Particular 4 T-T
The project is compatible with After Effects CS6 and Trapcode Particular 3. So if you open the projects in a later version of After Effects or Particular they will open without issue because of backwards compatible. Just to be sure, I tried opening the projects in using the most recent version of AE (2018) with Trapcode Particular 4 and there are no issues on my end. You should get a message informing you that the project will be automatically (converted) to the current version, just click OK to that.
Im getting an error message when I open this file in AE. Im guessing I just got duped into buying this when it turns out I have to purchase a super expensive program called ‘Particular’
please tell me I’m wrong and I don’t need to buy a 499 dollar program to use this
Hi, you weren’t duped as the item provides details of any required plugins like Trapcode Particular in the description. You can also download a free trail of Trapcode Particular from Red Giants website. Lastly you can contact Envato support team and request a refund, sorry if this caused any inconvenience.
I have found no emitter control null in the Fire Particles Comp. How do I control the motion of the emitter?
I would refer back to the overview video included, it might be a light used as a locator instead of a null.
Hi, CG Visuals. I need to ask. If I buy this (very well done) fire, can I use it for my first professional movie without copyright infringement?
When you download the item, your also getting the licence to use it on commercial projects.
Hi friend, inspiring project! I wish you more sales!
Thanks, you have an impressive portfolio, have you ever considered making tutorials on your Youtube channel?
Hello, by opening the project, Particular 3.1.2 says it has to migrate settings. After doing that, I cannot move the emitter because some expressions do not work. Will you do an update?
It is possible that you have an different version of Trapcode Particular. It’s not a big issue, it just means that the expression linking the null to emitter may have to be reconnected. It’s very easy to do and this tutorial will show you how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV56P-MG0ms
I’m also working on an update that replaces the emitter nulls with lights. It should help with compatibility. Should be available by tomorrow.
i am having trouble controlling the null. when i move it fire doesnt move with ii. help please
Im still looking for a resolution on the issue of the null position mover not working
Hi jwattsjmd03,
I have personally looked into your issue. The fire in ‘Project File 01’ is controlled via the null object titled (Emitter Location Null). The spawn position for the particles is linked to this object using the default After Effects (pick whip expression). This allows you to animate the fire using the null object. By default, this null object has a simple (wiggle expression) for demonstration purposes. But you can remove this expression by (alt + left clicking) on the stopwatch icon next to the position, in the transform options of the (Emitter location null). This will allow you to animate a custom path for the fire using keyframes. If this does not work then it is likely that the (pick whip expression) linking the emitter to the position null, has been disconnected. In which case I would suggest opening a fresh copy of the project file, for testing purposes.
Good luck with your project, let me know if the issue persists?
Thanks, Zack
thanks for the tip quick question. I have updated version on trapcode so when i open project it tells me to migrate to my updated within project which i do. and then it says the old project used positions x, y and will be migrated over as well. does this affect the project any migrating it to new trapcode particular. Also, when i pickwhip the particles to null the fire moves but how am i supposed to get the tail of fire to animate like move directional as fire moves, it just stays in up and down position. Lastly, you are correct the pickwhips arent connected when open file and try again. are you able to tell me how supposed to be setup which particle pickwhipped to what so i know how to continue from then on. Im using this for a film of mine and was trying to get on top of it before get further behind. all help is very much appreciated.
Thanks Zack,
Thanks for your reply, I think I understand your issue. I’ll link a tutorial from RedGiant which better explains how to control emitters in Trapcode Particular. In your project, there are three layers one for fire, smoke, embers. So you will have to pick whip all three of them to the null object.
Here is the tutorial, it shows you how to do this about 4 minutes into the video:

Thank you soooooooo much for the help it worked perfectly. Your getting the highest rating from me on this cool fire. One last thing i know it mentioned the 3d camera on there for making the fire move in 3d space to match camera movement any tips or tutorials you can point me to in order to learn this technique more efficient. And if the 16 and 32 bit color correction makes the color of my whole shot super bright is there a way i can fix that.
Hi glad to here that. Yes, If you want to composite the fire into a moving shot, you will probably want to use the after effects camera tracker. To get a 3D track / solve in after effects. The particles exist in 3D space, so if you bring a moving camera into that scene, the fire will act like it’s part of the shot and you will be able to position the fire into your scene. In the rendering/motion blur settings of tracpcode particluar you can tell it to disregard or include motion blur from the camera. Finally, you want to treat the fire like an FX pass, so once you’ve got the animation and the camera sorted. Shut off the footage and just render the fire (from the export comp) with alpha. I recommend a Quicktime file with PNG Alpha format. Not as large as an animation but still mostly lossless. Then composite the rendered fire pass onto your footage in a separate comp, this will give you more control over the compositing.
From whom is the music of your preview trailer?
