Hi Crystalpark,
Just purchased this and liking it allot! I am a bit of a newbie with AE though, while I was able to do all the basic stuff (adding my content, changing text, etc), I am confused on how to change the length of the clips/items. For example on 1 of the clips I have a 1 minute video I want to show from start to finish, but I can’t figure out how to extend the “item” length and change the timeline markers. Can you make a video tutorial on how to do this please?

Is it possible to show just one slide? If so, how?
Sure, just unshy the layers, remove all the slides (but leave the first) and drag the last keyframes of the remaining layers to the desired length. A bit of AE knowledge is required though! If this doesn’t work out for you than I’d be happy to send you a trimmed-down version of the project so you can be on your way

Sure, just open the CS5 .5 file in CS6 and it will ask you to re-save the file to make it compatible. Works great!

It’s certainly possible with a bit of AE knowledge. In the FAQ of the item is decribed how to make more slides and re-time te presentation. Please let me know if this works out for you!

It’s certainly possible, but it requires a bit of AE knowledge like extending the composition length and re-time keyframes of the animated layers. If you choose to customize the project: don’t forget to un-shy the layers of the compositions and make sure the camera layers have the same length as the composition you’re working in.

Last time it was a ‘rights’ issue with the project, probably something between Mac & Windows. Is the file set to ‘read only’? If so, please uncheck that function. If that doesn’t work for you I’d be happy to send you a brand new CS5 project file!

it says after effects error. The file you are attempting to open was created with after effects version 10.5 (mac64) and cannot be opened with this version. I use aftereffects cs 5 on pc. Adobe website said something about your version being the same as cs 5.5. any way to save a version back for me? even cs4, and i can upconvert to 5.

Its already a CS5 project, maybe you could try to import the file in AE instead of opening it directly?

Hey, I’m wondering if there is a simple way to add slides (I need 36 slides) I duplicated the layers and renamed them but they are pulling from nested comps (item_01 etc.) so when I change the footage in the slide it changes the first slide… :/

Hi Derek, you can easily add more slides by duplicating a main ‘item’ folder in the even/uneven numbered tabs. What you should do to avoid pulling the data out of the nested comps is to manually replace the compositions in your main ‘item’ comp with the compositions you just duplicated in the first step. This is very easy to do so, just select a composition in your timeline and drag the new composition on top of the ‘old’ one whilst pressing ‘option (mac)’ or ‘alt (windows)’. If this doesn’t work out for you I’d be happy to send you a illustrated explanation on how to achieve your goal!
