What if i already purchased the Sandstorm Photoshop Action plugin and now i would like to have this effect in after effects? Do i still need to purchase this AE motion kit to get this effect? I didn’t know that this kit had the photoshop action included and now I feel that I have wasted if I purchase this AE kit. Please advise.

The command ‘IF’ is not currently available This error is caused by running the Motion Kit Exporter with a version of Photoshop prior to CS6.1. To run the Motion Kit Exporter, you will need to be using Adobe Photoshop CS6.1 or newer.
but I’m using Photoshop CS6 for MAC, it seems appear to the version 13.0.1 (instead of showing CS6.0, 6.1….etc..) so would you please let me know what exact version for Mac will run the actions. Thanks.
Hello, that’s correct, the version that you need to run the ‘Motion Kit Exporter’ is technically build 13.1, but the common name for it is CS6.1. This build is only available via the Adobe Creative Cloud, so you need an Adobe CC subscription for the upgrade.
If you don’t have access to the Creative Cloud, you can always use the ‘All AE’ workflow, which is available to CS6 users (and the Sandstorm Photoshop Action works all the way back to CS3).

hi Thomas, i see your video about “sand storm” script. I have 1 question. What about diferent resolution i mean – PANORAMA 6240X900 or Screen 1920X900 ? Can i do this resolution?

I just replied to your email, but in case anyone else was wondering, the Action (image) portion of the product supports resolutions between 2000-4000px, while the After Effects (video) portion supports resolutions up to Full HD, 1920×1080.
With the video portion, you can easily crop down your results, so in your example, 1920×900 will work, but 6240×900 is much wider than the supported 1920px, so it would not work.
Outstanding product. Outstanding value. Easy to use and customer support is on point. Love the product, more than pays for itself with one use. If you’re savvy with After Effects you’ll find multiple uses. If you’re not you’ll do well as it’s pretty intuitive once you watched the tutorial.

Any suggestions on how to upscale this for 4k? 3840×2160? AE?
Hello,
Unfortunately, we only support HD within AE for SandStorm Motion Kit. The only way to achieve the results in 4K would be to manually change all the comps, layers and effects to 4K.
We tested out our first Motion Kit in 4K, and ultimately decided we will not longer be including it (for now) because it’s just too demanding on CPU to work with for most buyers.

This error is most likely caused by installing the wrong version of action into your version of Photoshop. thanks for the quick reply. i found my mistake. i use photoshop cc 2015. Have to use atn file in “CS3 – CC”folder. not in “cc 2015. 5+” folder. thank you!! it’s great templete.

Great project btw! game changer. I cannot wait to become fluid at this for both photo and video. my problem going along with tutorial step by step when it comes to export AE while in PS I press play and I keep getting Command IF missing and i press enter it continues popping up yet going down the files in the action and then popping back again and again until i press stop instead of ok then the image is gone only brush layer is visible>?? help Ive screen shot it as well as I’m sure I’ll end up emailing you this. #Advise

The ‘IF’ command error is due to using a version of Photoshop prior to CS6.1, which is only available via the Creative Cloud.
If you don’t have access to a newer version, you can always use the ‘All AE’ workflow!

CS6 user Mac 2013 . it states on product page it will work with CS6 or i wouldn’t have bought it ….I have no access to newer version *CC so am i to understand it won’t export to AE from my Version of PS.? and that i should just start with AE and build the project there? Pls Advise
Yes, the Photoshop Action will work on versions down to CS3, but the Motion Kit Exporter will only work on CS6.1 or newer – the ‘IF’ command was a crucial feature that was introduced that we are using to export the layers out of Photoshop.
We included the ‘All AE’ version though specifically for CS6 users – the results in AE will be practically identical to users who have CS6.1+, and a lot of users find the workflow much faster since you don’t have to go into two programs for the results.
In your case, you would build the entire project in AE CS6, without even touching Photoshop!

Unfortunately no, we originally set up the project like you are describing, but decided in the end that we preferred users having more flexibility in the particle options. As a result of that, the results when opening the file in AE don’t look identical to the Photoshop Action, but hopefully you’ll agree the customization options more than makes up for it!
Hi Thomas, actually i have the last version CC Photoshop, but i have a problem with the action and doesn’t work. I try many something to resize, or see the last comments, faq for try, but i don’t find solution for my problem. I try many times and i have already messages after messages to say “Is not currently available”. My picture is 72ppi and no larger than 4000px. :/

Hi Thomas. I’m getting a lot of errors. I reset the preferences as instructed in the readme txt. the first error i get is “The command “Twirl” is not currently available.” The distorts the whole picture. I set it as background and its default is locked and i did make sure the spelling of the layer is “brush” Please help

Absolutely, happy to help! The ‘Twirl’ error is caused by the image you are running the action on being too large. We recommend the largest dimension of the image you are using to be under 4000px. Try scaling the image down and see if that solves the issue!

Just purchased, followed direction closely then when trying PS the action stops halfway thru and says “Twirl” is currently not available. When running in Ae and trying to load the photo it says After Effects Error Unable to call “SetValueAtTime” because of parameter 2. Value 0.17 out of range 0 to 0.17 error on line 2426 Please help, thanks

Hey Thomas. First off, love your work! I just bought this action earlier today with the latest English version of Photoshop CC 2017. I’ve followed all steps listed in the readme file, ensured all settings were correct and still have ran into the same error no matter the direction I choose. It seems to be hanging up at the “twirl” step and says the command is not available. If you choose to continue anyway, it has even further issues later. I forgot to add – I also tried resetting Photoshop CC’s settings using the alt+ctrl+shift method to no avail.
Hello, the ‘Twirl’ error is typically caused by the image being much smaller or larger than the recommend image size of 1500-4000px.

I use After Effects Italian, I must to change the language here??
Hello, to run the Photoshop action you’ll need to switch the language to English, but the After Effects portion of the project can be in any language since the expressions are universalized.
On photoshop I can’t use the ATN. I have the error “command is not avalaible” (in french but i’ve tried to change PS language to english and it’s the same). I have CC2017. Same thing with “Dispersion”
