Is there an easy way to make the photos more crisp. I believe in the templates its set up to have a filter of some sort over the photos, is there anyway to make them less screened?
Hello, sorry for the late response, I was out of town and just returned this morning!
You have a couple options, you could totally remove the overlaid effects by dragging the image layer above the ‘Curves’ and ‘4-Color Gradient’ layers, but be sure to edit/remove the curves on the image comp layer.
For example, in the Slideshow 1 comp, you could bring the comp holding the image (Slideshow – Placeholder X) above the two blue color correction layers. Be sure in the Main comp you have ‘CC Within Comps’ checked on the ‘Controller’ layer.
Another option you could do is to duplicate the image comp, bring it above the color correction layers, delete the curves on that layer, and lower the opacity of the layer – that way, you could manually lower the effect to your liking.

sorry to bother you however I am having trouble locating the tutorial videos. the text document that came with the download says they can be found at …/awards show/assets/tutorials/ – searching video hive with those parameters hasn’t worked. Could you point me in the right direction?
No bother at all, if you aren’t seeing them within the ‘Assets’ folder in the download, within a folder titled ‘Tutorials’, then you will need to re-download the project file, as the download either stalled out or wasn’t completely finished downloading before extracting the zip file.
No worries though, just log in to Videohive, on the top-right select your username, then from the dropdown select, ‘Downloads’. There you can re-download the project file.

I just purchased the award show template not realizing that its only works with after effects . Then i downloaded the after effects 2017trial but still couldn’t use a template. Is that only works with cc2015 and 2014?

I universalized the expressions which should resolve any language issues within After Effects, so it is probably giving you an error that you do not have the recommended fonts installed from the tutorial.

Hello, yes, you can change the font and also the background. To change the font you just simply need to select the current text and customize it, as well as update the wires and details to match your new text/font.
Regarding the background, I have walls set up that you can customize with your own texture or images, so you could place the sparkling elements within that composition.

I’m having some trouble with the template. It’s been downloaded twice now and on each occasion it tells me there are 23 missing files. I can tell you that the missing files are located in the assets folder. I particularly have lots of trouble with viewing the “bokeh” and “particle strings” files and layers, which create a pixelated-like product over the top of the video. The names of some of the files also appear in the top left hand corner and cannot be removed. I am running off a PC and After Effects CC 2015.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks mate

I’m not sure why those particular assets are missing in the AE project file, especially since they are showing up in your assets folder. In the project panel, within the search bar type ‘Missing’ and a list of options will drop down, including ‘Missing Footage’. Click on that, and any assets that are missing will show up in the project panel. Once you have those visible, right-click on one of the missing footage items and select ‘Replace Footage>File”. From there go to the missing asset within the ‘Assets’ folder of Awards Show and click on it, it will re-link the asset as well as any others that are missing within that folder.
Give that a try and let me know if that solves the issue! If not, could you send me screen shots of the project file and missing assets to support@thomaskovar.com.

Hi Thomas, I’m trying to use the two-tone blue-pink preset and the 4 color gradient and both color curves are identical to the blue preset above it. Is it possible the two-tone curves and gradient didn’t get saved into the project? Thanks!

Sure, I’m not exactly sure where you are looking, but if you go into the ‘Demo’ comp in the download, within the ‘Main’ composition, layers 25 and 26 are the blue and two-tone 4-color gradient settings.
The corresponding curves layers above them(layers 18 and 19) are almost identical, but the multi-colored ‘Curves 2’ has a slightly adjusted RGB value. The curves aren’t really effecting the blue vs multi-cored presets that much though, the main settings to copy and paste into your project are on the 4-color gradients.

The video tutorials are within the “Assets” folder. There should be a folder within that folder titled, “Tutorials”. If you are not seeing any videos within that folder, it may be because the download wasn’t completely finished before trying to extract (unzip) the file.
If you aren’t seeing any video tutorials within that download, re-download the project file by logging in to Videohive, selecting your username on the top-right and from the dropdown select “Downloads”. There you can re-download the project file and the missing assets should show up!

No problem, Open Sans is the font I recommend if you don’t have access to Typekit. Here’s a link for that:

On the bottom of the page, select the black bar that comes up indicating you have ‘1 Font Family Selected’, click on that bar, and then within that bar in the top right click on the download icon. Then just install the font on your computer!

When opening the file, I see ‘After Effects warning: 43 files are missing since you last saved this project’. Is there a newer version? I download the template only a few days ago. Please advise!

I’m not sure why that happens once in a while, but try and re-download the file by logging into Videohive, on the top right select your username, then “Downloads”. There you’ll be able to re-download the project file.
Make sure the file is 100% completely done downloading before uncompressing the zip file, and make sure the entire zip file is completely done extracting the zip file before opening the AE project file – that seems to work for most users who report an error of missing files when you open the project file.
