Amazing work Thomas!

Thank you!

I’d be very interested in a video version – with motion tracking???? or at least key frameable to create animated trails. Thanks

Awesome, I’ll keep that in mind for future updates.

Hi ThomasKovar!

Thank you for your work, and I am interested in it. But before I buy it I have questions. If I create a short 3-4 sec temlapte, how much would be the file size? Can I solve it that the maximum size would be 3-4 mb? Or can I make a gif from it? Thanks in advance!

Hello!

File size mostly depends on the duration, dimension, and bit-depth of your video.

The template is set up to loop in 5 seconds. If you are making a looping video with HD dimensions and used a lossy compression like .H264 you could probably get the file size around 3-4mb.

You can definitely make gifs from the videos you export out of AE, what I do is just export out the dimensions that the final gif is going to be from AE and import that into Photoshop, then export out the video as a gif. You would have to lower the dimension though to something closer to 800×450 (probably smaller) to get the 5-second loop around 3-4mb.

When dealing with gifs, you also have to take into account a lot of other factors like the number of colors, overall motion and dithering. Creating small gifs can get pretty complex, so if you have any questions about this please let me know.

ok thank you

Hi there! Great project, it looks so powerful! But i have an question – it can work with video? Or it only work with still images?

Thank you! As of right now, it only works with still images. We originally included video, but ultimately decided that the workflow wasn’t as user-friendly and wanted this to be easily approachable to users who are new to After Effects. Unfortunately, that meant removing the option for video, but overall we think it provides a better experience using the product.

Depending on demand, we may include a ‘Pro’ version that includes a few more options like working with video.

Thanks for your answer! I’ll will wait “video” version =)

Great project and preview! The after effects flat mockup is your own work? (00:43) Thank You : )

Thank you! Yes, I created all the flat mockups from scratch!

Thank You, : ) great work!

AWESOME! I will definetly try that!

Thank you!

Hi, i purchased this, but, i added the script to the after effects “ScriptUI Panels” folder, and i got the window showing in AE, but when i select or double click “left” right” etc in the Sandstorm window Nothing happens at all?

AE CS5, OSX Yosemite 10.10.5. I already emailed you a screenshot. :) We can switch to email if you prefer. and yes, i followed along with your readme and your youtube tutorial and made sure i had the general script preference checked with a restart before docking the sandstorm window. On your video, it shows once you select a direction “Left” etc.. it opens a window for folder name. Mine does absolutely nothing when i select a direction in the AE workflow (double click)

i sent you an email. please make sure its not in your junk box

Hello. I just replied to your email but wanted to let others who are reading the comments section know – this particular issue is related to using CS5. Unfortunately, the current version fo the kit only works with CS6+.

We are planning to support it in the future, but can’t give a definitive date for including CS5.

Holy S*t ! THIS IS AWESOME !

Thank you!

Thank you!

Excellent work!

Thank you!

Well done Thomas!

Thank you!

Wonderful..!!!!

Thank you!

This kit is awesome! Bookmarked.

Thank you!

Hi, I really need this script , dose it needs a fast computer in order to generate those small particular ?

Hello, no, it doesn’t need a fast computer. It takes a couple seconds to update when you make changes, but overall I found working at full playback resolution to be pretty fast. You can always change the playback resolution to half or quarter as you’re working as well, but I prefer full when working with particles since there’s so much detail.

To render out a 5-second loop, it took me about 12 minutes to render. I’m using a 3.5ghz 6 core mac pro with 32 GB of RAM.

Owwww Thomas ! you gave life to my music ! Your Editing Skills and Project are Freaking AWESOME! keep up the good work ! :)

Thank you, I was going to message you today thanking you for making such an awesome track.

hah i was about to do it too ! :D Great work ! :)

So do these extensive actions perform well enough to apply to tracked footage? Any examples of this that you have done or are aware of…

Great question. Initially I did think about including the ability to apply the effect to tracked footage, but in the end decided that it got too advanced for most users. The best way to keep things simple and straightforward was to keep this an effect for images rather than footage.

I may update it someday for advanced users to add the effect to tracked footage, but can’t make any promises.

The photoshop action works ok, but when I get to the motion kit exporter I have problems. Image cropped to your specs, no problems there. I hit play on “run this action” and I get a dialog for “new snapshot”, name: original state, and an option to select for Full document, or “merged layers”. Ok, or cancel. I’ve tried this every which way, but it doesn’t play through like the tutorial video shows. Please help! Thank you for your great work, again.

This is really incredible stuff, Thomas. Now I’m testing the workflow in AE with doing the brushing there instead of in PS. And your presets..just great work, man. I hope the collaboration with Sevenstyles continues. Here’s a first (very rough) test. https://vimeo.com/188021605

Awesome! Don’t forget about the color options, Sevenstyles has some really cool options to play around with.

Again, if there’s anything I can help with message me anytime.

just re-exported the vimeo link above. Brushing done in AE now. Dynamic linked over to Premiere, duplicated the 5 second loop twice and ended with the fade of the particles. Sweet.

Awesome !! May this be your next big thing Thomas … Good luck … :)

Thank you very much!
