In your tutorial when you drag American flag movie into composition it looks to be on transparent background. However, when I dragged out American Flag it retained a black background. What am I doing wrong?

You should drag the “composition” not the movie.
The comp format is in “01 Elements Pack” folder. Don’t drag out from “Footage” Folder.
