It works with text layers & also custom shapes as well, there is a step by step video guide included with the project file to help you.
why this is not so practical for rectangular logos?

hi I have problem when i open it. it show me message “this project must be converted from version 10.0.1 (Macintosh 64). the original file will be unchanged” I use Windows 10 , Adobe After Effect cc 2015.3
hi, that’s not an issue, it’s just a notification. if you click okay, the project will open just fine. it’s because this project was created in CS6. when you open it in the latest version of CS6 this message will pop up..just to notify that when u work on this project you have to save it.

Hi, When I Open Square Logo.aep, it says “This Project contains 1 reference to a missing effect. Please install the following effect to restore this reference. (“Element”). Also once opened the background is Blue and no backgroud image is seen. Please help. I have AE CC version on a Windows 8 machine. Thanks

I don’t remember if this was mentioned in the help, but if you want to do a quick one, go into the logo comp, type you word in text, then just go to Layer > create masks from text and it will make you a perfect set of masks with no errors. it’s super quick to do this way and as long as you stay within the guides you can copy/paste those masks right into the logo comp in the main render comp (after deleting the existing masks)
You can go from opening the project to rendering it in less than 1 minute
