Hi StudioTechSide, if you mean using your own hand picture(only change the hand, not the animation), yes; if you mean using your own animation, unfortunately no at this point.

Hi tangerineang, did you try to purge the cache? Usually AE crashes because it runs out the memory, but this script takes very small amount of memory. Try clean the cache then reinstall it. Make sure to follow the installation tutorial step to step to get the correct folder. Let me know if this works.
Hello. Just purchased this excellent plugin… but it’s not working with the latest version of AE (2019). Is this only made for AE 2015?
To update you. The script does work. The hand just appears 175000 pixels away!?
Hi thecraftconsulting, I have tested on my end. It works fine for AE 2019. Did you get it working on other versions of AE? Do you want to try reinstall the script as well as the preset? Let me know how it goes.
I’ve got it working on AE2015. And as I said – it runs in 2019, but puts the hands 175000 pixels away i.e. they don’t appear. I will try again and keep you updated.

Hello garethtrollope, thank you for the kind words. The eraser effect works exactly the same way with the drawing. Just treat it as a type of pen and do the same process, you will get the image erased.
Is it possible to animate text too? I’m getting error when I try to mask around text. “Wrong Composition or you didn’t create mask by clcking “add mask”

Regarding your question, the text is slightly different than the regular images. Here’s what to do:
When you hit the first button (create mask button), you may see your text is wrapped in a composition. Open that composition, then you can see the blue mask layer and draw the mask on top of it. Then hit the second button, your blue mask will be gone.
Does that make sense? Please let me know.

That works, thanks a lot! One more question. Can you explain how did you use finger to move objects in your video? 
No problem. There wasn’t any trick for the finger animation. I key-framed it in AE to show the users some possibilities. So you may parent the finger with the objects you need to move and key frame it.
Hello, the description says that “Full HD (1920*1080) or smaller sizes are recommended”. Does that mean this can actually work for 4K project as well? (I mainly work in 4k.) If yes, what type of problems would I be expecting to get?
Hi syahzuan, the reason I recommend Full HD or smaller is that the hand picture presets contained in the package is designed as HD size. If you do 4K, the hand would be scaled up, therefore it will be pixelated and blurry. The bigger the size than HD, the blurry the hand is. Although the hand moves fast and some people don’t think it as a big issue, some other people might take it seriously. I personally would not recommend you buy it if you mainly work on 4K.

Hi syahzuan, I was on a road trip. Sorry for the late replay. regarding your question, 1. You may use your own picture following the instruction in the guide book included in the handbook( I tested to scale up the hand up to 2K, it is still pretty clear, not sure about 4K); 2. You may turn off the hand layer. that way 4K should work. I tested it on my end, but I do not have enough user feedback on this, so it is a bit risky.Good luck to your project.

We did everything according to the Tutorial, but when I am in the last step (Press Play icon to create the animation) just an white mask / layer. Nothing else, the animation just not appear. We already re-named the preset file, nothing changed.

Hello again. I´m having huge performance problems animating and previewing. Also about 7 hours rendering time for a 3 minute video.
Characteristics.. I´m using imported PSD with flattened layers wich have text and simple line art. About 15 per composition…which i animate sequentially in turn…
I relly don´t know what could be worng. I´ve sent the file to another colleague who has a really powerful and new machine and the same happens to him.
Are there any tips or things to consider in terms of performance? It´s becoming unusable the moment I have to wait about 15 seconds just for a timeline to start playing or never having the opportunity to preview in real time.

Hi GreenpeaceMax, 7 hours seems to be too long. There are many parameters that could slow down the render speed. But I would love to help to find out the reason.
Did you try to clean the cache (go to Edit>Purge.All Memory and cache)? Did you make sure you got enough disk cache size and memory in project settings?

It seems like you are not using AE in English version.You would need to switch AE to English version in order to make it work as this script only support English version for now. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

The erasing is automatic. The drag is not. The easing hand is exactly the same process as the other drawing hands. To be specific, create a mask and select the eraser or blackboard eraser, and do the same thing as other drawing hands. Just treat it as a regular brush or pen. you will get the erase effects.

Two questions. Is there any way to undo later one once you Apply the animation? the third step..to get back the layer to normal state.
I´m having some problems with duplicated hands that remain on screen after the layer animation has stopped. It looks something like this..

Regarding your first question, you may keep hitting”Ctrl+Z” to undo the animation.
For the second question, did you stagger the layer to make sure they have a delay between two layers so that they are not overlapping?

Thanks for replying. About the second question, yes..i think that was the problem. re stagerring after changing the speed is very important.
About the CTRL-z would work if I didn´t have done other steps in the middle. I´m thinking more of a Monkey bars or the other monkey Plugins where they have a button you just press to take the layer back to it´s original state…

Eraser seems broken! On Adobe 2018.
When I apply the effect, the erase hand animates in place, and the alpha channel erase effect visible scrubs in the background, not affecting the layer. It also does all of this at the beginning of the layer.
Please help! The tutorial did not cover erasers and it is clearly an issue for the community. Thank you!

Regarding your question, are you using AE in English version? Did you make sure you created the mask using the “create mask button” following the tutorial? Please make sure you are NOT applying the effects directly on the image.
As per my comments on your other product, cannot afford to buy right now but following and bookmarked. This is the best Whiteboard tool I have seen so far. Love the way it acts as if it is actually drawing in the right order although it’s a custom image, and not like it’s wiping a sponge over a surface, as in so many others. Great work.

Hi silasoliveira, this function has been removed in the latest version. However, you may easily disable the hand in the composition.
Hi I just bought Auto Whiteboard and can’t get it to work when I hit the apply button. I read another comment from someone with a similar problem. I am using a Mac and CS6. I did notice that when I went to install presets it did not give me the option to install – I navigate to the folder and it just says open. I never got in installation complete alert message. I tried putting the folders in the AE folder manually but it did not work. Hope you can help, many thanks

My apologies I didn’t do a tutorial on Mac system, so it might be a bit confusing.
Did you make sure you navigate to the “Install_Presets” folder instead of “AutoWhiteboard” folder? If you can navigate to the “Install_Presets” folder, just hit “Open”, you should be able to get it installed. If you somehow can not navigate to the “Install_Presets” folder, try to go to search bar and search “Install_Presets” directly. Then select this folder and hit “Open”.

Hi thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have been trying this morning to import the presets and tried various methods. It does not seem to want to import the files within the Animation presets folder. They are greyed out and then I sometimes get an error message animation presets cannot be imported because it is not a recognised file type (39::7). These files are .ffx files. I then tried to import them by making sure that the all files method is checked in AE and even though the files are not greyed out when it imports the folder there is nothing in it. Hi Anastacia, did you follow the tutorial to install the presets? I mean, go to the Autowhiteboard panel and hit the “Install_Presets” button, then navigate to the “Intall_Presets” folder and hit “Open”. Please let me know. Starting from 2:00 in the tutorial it shows how to install presets. Please let me know. Thank you.

In the meantime, I have some questions:
Are you using AE in English version? ( I would suppose so).
Did you save the package folder to a path with Non-English character path name? Try to save it to a path where it only contains English characters( for example, E:\AutoWhiteboard\Package) with no space between characters. Then delete the presets in after effects and re-install it.
If none of these works, do you want to try restart After Effects?
If it still not working, do you want to try to reinstall AE? A user of mine got some weird issues too and he fixed it by reinstall AE.

Would it work on Mac OSX After Effects CC 2018?
Hi fionaluk, it is tested up to ac OSX After Effects CC 2017. It should work for CC 2018 on Mac OSX, but I haven’t tested it yet, my mac system is a bit old. So let’s say: 95% chance it will work : )
UPDATE: Script has been tested on OSX After Effects CC2018.
Thanks for the update, lightdust. I am now using v2.0 on AE 2018. I imported an AI drawing to AE, then transferred the layers to the new composition. After following your instructions on 3 layers, I tried to stagger them but there is no response. Then I tried to move the timing myself, but the drawing effect and the hand would not show for the 2nd and 3rd layer (kind of disappeared). Please help. PS. all my layers are named in English, for example, “US03 HAT” and I am using the English version of AE.
