Its ruins are some of the most impressive castle ruins in the Baltic states. Once the most important castle of the Livonian Order, it was the official residence for the masters of the order.[citation needed] It was partly destroyed during the Great Northern War. the C?sis History Museum has been located in this New Castle of the C?sis Castle estate. The front yard of the New Castle is enclosed by a granary and a stable-coach house, which now houses the Exhibition Hall of the Museum. Beside the granary there is the oldest brewery in Latvia, C?su Alus dar?tava, which was built in 1878 during a later Count Sievers’ time, but its origins date back to the period of the Livonian Order. The C?sis Castle park was laid out in 1812 and has the romantic characteristic of that time, with its winding footpaths, exotic plants, and the water of the pond reflecting the castle’s ruins. Nowadays also one of the towers is open for tourists. latvia, officially the republic of latvia (latvian: latvijas republika), is a country in the baltic region of northern europe, one of the three baltic states. it is bordered by estonia to the north, lithuania to the south, russia to the east, and belarus to the southeast, as well as a maritime border to the west alongside sweden. the country has a temperate seasonal climate. latvia is a democratic parliamentary republic established in 1918. the capital city is riga, the european capital of culture. latvian is the official language. latvia is a unitary state, divided into 118 administrative divisions, of which 109 are municipalities and 9 are cities. latvians and livs are the indigenous people of latvia. latvian is an indo-european language; it and lithuanian are the only two surviving baltic languages. despite foreign rule from the 13th to 20th centuries, the latvian nation maintained its identity throughout the generations via the language and musical traditions. latvia and estonia share a long common history. as a consequence of the soviet occupation, both countries are home to a large number of ethnic russians, some of whom are non-citizens. latvia is historically predominantly protestant lutheran, except for the latgale region in the southeast, which has historically been predominantly roman catholic. riga latvia old town sign city square timelapse hyperlapse people tourist travel sightseeing europe baltic building tourism historical medieval street center tower roof landmark view latvian urban daugava historic cityscape summer trip downtown river bridge panorama cathedral skyline dome castle rooftop panoramic landscape destination skyscraper business scenic day midtown attraction. latvia is a democratic and developed country with an advanced high-income economy, a high quality of life and a very high standard of living. latvia is a member of nato, the european union, the united nations, the council of europe, cbss, the imf, nb8, nib, osce and wto. it is currently in the accession process for joining the oecd. castle cesis latvia medieval tower history ruins stone old architecture ancient livonian europe tourism sky wall travel baltic building landmark landscape brick past fortress fort grass nature famous bridge gothic livonia order summer century tree green antique window palace fortification park city day structure cloud exterior built riga citadel gloomy latvia was listed on the human development index and as a high income country. it used the latvian lats as its currency until it was replaced by the euro. riga, ryga, is the capital and the largest city of latvia. riga is the largest city of the baltic states and home to more than one third of latvia’s population. the city lies on the gulf of riga, at the mouth of the daugava. riga’s territory on a flat and sandy plain. riga was founded and is a former hanseatic league member. riga’s historical centre is a unesco world heritage site, noted for its art nouveau/jugendstil architecture and 19th century wooden architecture. riga is a member of eurocities, the union of the baltic cities ubc and union of capitals of the european union. please also check my portfolio for more travel videos. i have videos from over 50 countries, 1.000 cities.
