Hello any experiences if it works fine in cs5.5?

there was an update weeks ago, and now Rigmo is supported from After Effects CS5.5. I already modified the supported versions in the description.

Hi, I was trying to draw a dress on an edited version of the Lindsey__Animation set. However it seems like the body-section and legs all have masks that cut-off anything above/below the pelvis. In addition, for a character with long hair, the head-section has a mask that cuts off all artwork immediately once the body begins.

I haven’t figured out how to turn the masks off or expand it so that the entire piece of artwork can be shown. Any help would be appreciated. Or if there is a template that is better suited, please let me know.

this is an After Effects import bug. Unfortunately the only solution is if you reimport those assets which being cut-off.
In the folder 001_Tutorials/Cropped Layers Fix you can find an image and a text file with the description how to reimport the layers.

How is this meant in your “faaq” : Can i use 2 characters With Animations if i simply import it two Times? Yes right?! (i mean Not prerendered videofiles but editable ae-characterrigs)

unfortunately not, you cant import two AEP files with animations to 1 Aep file. If you use the pre-made animations you need to render them and import back the rendered mov, avi, mp4 etc. video file. Because of the animations the scripts will be overwritten and the project will cause errors. However you can use the “__Rig” files together without problems.

Hello, could I have a question? I posed my character and wanted to animate him, but all bodyparts controllers dissapeared. Controllers apearance slider is on 100%. How can I fix it please?

we never experienced errors with the controllers.
If you select the control (for example “right_arm_control”) and hit “T” on the keyboard you can see the layer’s opacity. You can delete the expression here and set manually the opacity of the layer.

I watched the tutorials but a a question: should i do a new Character setup in Rig.Aep and the Animations in Animatio.aep? Does “Animatio” reference to “Rig” or are they two separate Things?

And another thing: you created a new Character by overwriting the Model sheet of an existing character. But what to do if i dont want to destroy an existing model sheet? What i tried:copied Bob-rig.aep,renamed it tom-rig.aep and did the same With Bobs Modelsheet.psd. But tom-rig.aep still refers to bob.psd. Is there a quick way to link all bodypartlayers to Tom.psd? Or do i have to replace each layer manually by “replace footage > choose layer”?

Unfortunately it’s impossible with After Effects to create a reference rigging system what you mentioned but man it would be awesome!
the second question: _If you don’t want to destroy it copy the whole folder system and duplicate/separate it.
When you open one of the AEP file it’s PSD file is a relative reference so it will search in it’s own folder system.

Hello, I have another issue. When I want to animate characters head turning from left to right, head dissapears between keyframes. What am I doing wrong?

Does your character has a front view? Between left and right view there is the front view and if it’s missing the head will disappears.

Hy, I’ve tried it and yes, you can change the body to a square. I don’t know exactly what is your goal but I think you can use a square as the body and you can use the animations too:

Hello, I have a bug with the plugin, I made my layers as needed and replaced the file “Model_Sheet.psd” of the character Jenny on After effects. However most of my layers are cut and I do not understand why … The only solution I see is to export tens of layers one by one and reimport them one by one and replace them in the compositions. I have an issue… After designing my own character and importing it in to AE, references layers appears as a big black shape and not as the design. At this point I’m not able to set up 01_Character_Setup. Any idea?

the big black shapes sounds weird. Did you tried to reimport the reference layers?
In the tutorial folder you can find how you can reimport the layers: 001_Tutorials\Cropped Layers Fix.

It’s okay, some cases you need to rotate the arm states to achive the exact position of the arms. You won’t break it if you rotate them, the main goal is to position the arm between the two pivot point as precisely as you can.

Hy, you can add a hat to the head as you can see the little red monster has a hat but unfortunately it is fixed. If you have experience with After Effects you can add a hat and link it to the head controller or head composition but you need to add this head to all the pre made animations. I bought your product and has some problems. When I bring another “bob_animation” file to the working area which already brought “steve_animation”, It Crashes something like being duplicated settings. how can I fix this?

Hy, if you use two rigged characters in one Project file the expressions getting messed because of the scripts and the premade animations. However You can merge or import AEP files which include the rig only. The AEP files which include the 40 character animations are not mergeable. If you want to import one of the included animations into an another character’s AEP file first you need to render it (to mov, avi, etc. ) then import this video file into the another AEP file. Hey guys, we purchased your template and find it really useful. But now one of our artists drew a new charakter, using your template files, who has slightly different proportions compared to your characters (meaning thicker limps, longer hair, different shoes,...). When we replace the Model Sheet with this file almost all the layers are cut of in one way or another. We found the “tutorial” folder which descripes how to replace those layers which does the trick. However as it happens to almost all layers this can take quite a lot of time and errors can happen rather quickly when you accidently asign LeftArm3 while you need LeftArm4. Is there any other way to deal with this as we will also need to replace additional characters? Maybe a script that replaces those layers and adjusts the bounding box in one go?

I think this happens as I assume that the rig was build after using the import function “Composition-Retain Layer Size” which crops the layers to their bounding box, which makes it way easier to deal with, but causes those problems when you need to replace a layer with slightly different proportions. Did you guys think about reworking the whole template (a possible V.2?) to better work in those cases?

Hy, sorry for this bug, unfortunately the new PSD import method from AE CC2015 cause this problem. Above that version everthing works fine.
Did you guys tried the other trick what I mentioned in the tutorial txt? One of our customer wrote that this method loaded all the layers again:

Hi there, very cool setup here! I’m not a afx power user and have a couple of quick questions. i’m using the jenny character and i wanted to add two things. I’ve tweaked the psd files to change the colours, all good. Now i wanted to add a couple of additional elements.

I tried to add a dress and ponytail in pshop but obviously the scale expressions in afx dont register them and get a bit messed up. Can i add these in afx? Where about in the layer hierarchy would i put them? For example the long hair would be behind the head and body and would prob need to be parented to to the head controller but i’m struggling a bit to see where they would go. Also i’d like to put a knee length dress in which would be over the pelvis and legs but again not sure where to put this and where to parent them.

i’m slowly going through your video tutorials and the comments here but any quick solution would be great – i’m sure it’s probably quite easy but i’ve a client chasing me and getting it done quick would be great!

you can add ponytail for your character. Here is how you can do this:
First draw the ponytail in the Model_Sheet file or in other PSD file as you wish. In After Effects right click in the project window and choose “Import” – “File”. Load your PSD file then in the next popup click “Choose Layer” checkbox and choose the ponytail layer in the Footage Dimensions here also choose “Layer Size”. Right click on the imported PSD file layer in the project window and choose “New Comp from Selection”. In the layer panel click on the “Shy Layer Icon”

and put the new PonyTail Composition between 31 and 32 layers (between Head_States_Jenny and Pelvis_States_Jenny). With the Pick whip tool link it to the Head_States_Jenny layer. Here you can download screenshots about it.

About the skirt, what if you extend the length of the pelvis because the pelvis layer is above the leg layers so itt will cover the legs.

is there a way to only extract the face animation of a character – is there a way to disable all other layer except the face?

Hy, yes you can disable all othe layer, the fastest way is to clear all Photoshop layer elements except the face layers. If you just clear them and not delete those layers After Effects will load them but you will see only the face layers, the others will be blank. The other way is if you disable the After Effects layers except the face layers. So yes you can :)

Hy, all the character designs and sheets was created by me. On Shutterstock or on Pinterest you can find some similar characters but unfortunately I can’t show you similar artists. I hope I could help
