4K + Alpha + Z depth pass + velocity pass + loop
the alpha is not really necessary, you can use SCREEN or ADD as layer operation. Adjust the brightness of the rain to fit to your footage. The preview rain is very bright for better visibility, as it should be less bright for more realism.
use the velocity pass to create motion blur and the z depth pass for a depth of field effect.
copy and offset the rain layer for more heavy rain and and increase the speed of the footage for faster rain.
The rain is not made with 2D textures. everything is in 3D with 3d objects.
The rain starts and finished. Rain has a beginning and end. rain falling and ending, rain starts and stops.
