Hi Alex, is there a way to have different photos in each of the groups? For example, the first three groups are pictures 1-5 in different orders – is it possible to have different photos instead? ie. add / duplicate another photo layer so that the first 5 photos are unique to the next group, which is unique to the next group? I don’t want the same photos to be seen in the flips. Thank you!
Yes. You can duplicate the picture comp in the Project Window. Then use that comp to replace the one in the timeline. You do this by holding down option. See this link.

Hi Alex, This looks awesome. Just one question, what are the steps to add the pictures? Do I have to add 1 by one to the project or do I just point to a folder and the AE project fills in the pictures? Planning on getting this for a friends party, and the animation and flow are perfect for it. Please let me know! Thank you!
You do add them 1 by 1, but it’s a pretty fast process. For this project, adding additional pictures takes a good bit of AE experience. So If the amount of pictures that is provided works for you, I am sure it would serve you well. There is a video tutorial as well.
Sweet. Thanks Alex. Not sure how many pics the client will provide, but definitely more that 45. The thing I like about your template, is that she took a bunch of sequence pics, so I can add the pics in sequence and it creates the animated flip-book effect. I will run the template by her, and if she likes it, I will be purchasing it (under a different user though, reol09). Talk to you soon.
Alex, do you have a link to the tutorial and fonts? Never mind found it, thanks!
all of that is in the folder you have downloaded.
Hi Alex,
I’m going to purchase this AE project. I used some others in the past.
I have photos but also videos to add to the project. Could you tell me if it’s not too hard for a beginner on AE, to increase the time of display of some “frames”. Because I need to display these videos at least 5 or 7 seconds. Do you see what I mean ? I think that I should be able to do that in the main timeline of the project.
Best regards,
Yannick
Yes. If I remember correctly, I explain how to lengthen the duration between transitions. I would say some AE experience is helpful
Thanks for your answer. I just purchased the project. I will try tomorrow
Hi there,
I would like to enquire prior to purchasing this template. Am I able to add in more pictures because I am using it for an interior design portfolio demo , and we would like to insert more images to showcase all the works that we have done before.
Yes. I walk you through how to add more pictures in the tutorial, but having some after effects experience will help. Otherwise it could be a little confusing.
Alright thank you!
Great performance! Bookmarked.
Hi Alex,
I have problems rendering … or is it normal ?
I’m rendering this on an i7, 2×7870 2GB video cards, SSD and 32gb ram … and I cannot get anything below 5 hours … even more sometimes …
I’m rendering quicktime h.264 720p with no audio …
Thanks
It probably will be a few hours. Shouldn’t be more than 3 or 4 at the most. One possibility is to check your image size. You may want to resave your images at a lower quality so they are under 1 or 2 mb. You can also remove motion blur if you have to.
Hi! Just bought the template! Nice work and great set up. However, I would like to shorten the video with fewer photos and maybe rearrange the comps. How could I do that? Could I make a total new main comp and add the photocomps in an order that I like and fit my music? Thanks for help and tips Best reagrds Sammet
To shorten, I would just adjust your render in and out points. When you start moving things around, some after effects experience is needed. It is build so it moves consistently from beginning to end. If you send me a private message, I can send you a tutorial that may help.
Ok, I´ll write to you at once! Thanks!
Hi Alex,
is it possible to rearrange the order of the slides? For example putting 4 slides in portrait orientation in a row.
Thank you, Alex
It’s possible, but may require some after effects experience. I believe the tutorial talks about how to add more images. or I have a link. one way or another!
Hello Alex, bought your project and I have been trying to edited as per your tutorial and adding the pictures is quite easy, however putting videos is really, really tricky as I haven’t been able to measure the length of the video with the time it takes for the slide to move on and as you said making the time longer doesn’t mean it will show. As my project is half pictures and half small videos (about 12) I found that I can’t really use the template…:-(
When you start trying to adjust the time, it may be a little complex. You will have to adjust the moment of the camera and the amount of time of the pictures. Complex but possible.
how complex, any quick tip that I can use, I really would like to use the template..
I can send you a link to a tutorial that may give you some insight. send me a private message through my profile page
Can you please send me the instructions on adding more photos / videos? Also, how long should it take to render?
Thanks!
Sure thing. Please send me a private message and I’ll send you the link.
Hi Alex,
dropped you a message as I’d like access to the tutorial on how to add photos to the slideshow. Thank you!
Not a problem. Sent you the link!
hey alex, did you end up putting up a tutorial video for how to add more pictures (im doing a project that requires a couple hundred or so)...im a total AE noob and would need to know i can easily add more pics, prior to purchase. also, just making sure ill be able to use both portrait and landscape pictures without stretching/sacrificing quality, and ensuring there’s an easy way to do that. thanks a lot.
deepak
Just sent you an email with some information. Hope it helps!
hi!
This is a nice template! I may have a music suitable for this project, check my “The happy mandolin” in my portfolio, hope you like it!
This is a great template, definitely one of the best ones I have worked with. Just curious though, the wrinkled paper effect and the color scratches effects seem to lower the brightness of most of my photos by a significant amount. I turned them off on some photos but would rather keep them if I can just keep the brightness level somewhat higher. I can adjust the photo brightness itself but then also need to adjust the photo contrast to retain sharpness and prevent whiteout. Is there an alternate way or a way to change the brightness of the effects themselves instead? Thanks in advance and great work. This is a minor issue to me, I love the template regardless.
Thank you. Glad to help. You can adjust the blending modes on the scratch/wrinkle layers. Different modes produce different results. Or, in the picture comp add a color correction to your image. I would start with Curves and adjust the main RGB curve. It will brighten the image as well as increase contrast. levels may also help a little.
Thank you for the purchase and please leave a 5Star rating when you get a chance!
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Awesome work!!!
I’m going through your tutorial and it’s awesome. However, the one thing that I was surprised you didn’t cover was that you didn’t go over how to add more photos to the slideshow. I’m using this for my Great Aunt’s memorial service tomorrow and I have way more than 45 pictures. Luckily, I’ve done some editing on AE before so I’m pretty confident I can pull it off, but perhaps you could consider adding that to your next tutorial? Or is it too complicated to teach beginners? Anyway, thank you again for making this stunning slideshow! I know my Great Uncle and everyone will love it and will be touched.
Just kidding. Shoot. I don’t know if I can get it to duplicate so I can extend the amount of pictures…sigh. Wish I had known this sooner….
I can work up a tutorial sometime today and walk you through it. Would that help or would it be too late?
Shoot, no, it would be too late for the memorial service. However, we are taking everyone’s addresses and then going to mail them copies on DVD so I would love a tutorial to work through sometime in the next couple days. Also, realizing that just rendering the timeline w/ the 46 pictures is going to take 7+ hours…I really need to get better at AE…Thank you for responding so quickly!
Also, wondered how to use the vertical photos (the one w/ the orange placeholders) instead of the horizontal ones when needed. I wanted to do the slideshow in chronological order of my Great Aunt’s life and a lot of old images from the 1930’s-1950’s are vertical but I couldn’t duplicate the vertical placeholders appropriately. I’m sure you know why, but how would I also be able to do that?
Yea. with certain projects you will begin to recognize what takes a while to render, etc. Turning on and off motion blur, camera blur, textures, etc. Then the project just doesn’t look as cool. Also all depends on the machine you are working on.
So you are wanting more vertical photos than horizontal? The painless way to do it (if the picture allows for it) is the put the vertical picture in the horizontal placeholder and scale up to fit. Changing a horizontal comp to vertical could be a little tricky. Adjust it in comp settings, then adjust the frame/border. Then you would probably need to adjust the position in the main comp.
I am sorry to hear of your loss, but hope your family is doing well and enjoying their time with one another.
I will do my best to do a quick tutorial in the next day or so. It’s not too complicated, just a specific process.
If you get a chance, please leave a 5 star rating. I would greatly appreciate it. And thank you again for the purchase.
Alex, thank you so much for your kind words. I so appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. I made a temporary slideshow in the meantime, but I’d love to go through your new tutorial when you get a chance. And I’m really excited to create something beautiful with your talent to honor her memory. Honestly, thank you again. I’ll be sure to leave a 5 star rating.
Hi Alex, just wondered if I’d be able to get that tutorial on how to add more photos? Thank you and hope you’re well!
Sorry. Crazy backed up these days. I’ll do my best to knock it out tomorrow. Setting a reminder now.
Sounds great! Thank you again, Alex!
I have a tutorial uploading now, can you send me a private message through my profile page?
Do you still have the link to this? Someone else is asking and I can’t seem to find my tutorial?
Hi Alex, I might have it backed up on my old hard drive. I’ll check and let you know. Thanks!
does the project include a color filter for the photos? since we like the vintage look of the photos
Nice project btw
Yes. A black and white and a vintage filter.
Alex, this is a very nice looking project. I bet, in the next 2 months someone will make something similar
. Good luck!
Thanks. Nothing new under the sun, I guess.
