Why is the footage rotated onto its side? Basically, to give you a higher resolution image. The human body is taller than it is wide, so to get maximum use out of the 16:9 HD frame, the images are rotated. Simply rotate these images 90 degrees to return them to the correct orientation.
Good for medical drama / documentary. Good for fictional computer readouts.
