This project takes long to render. Is that normal?
Yes, unfortunately because of the techniques used to accomplish the polished 3D effect with depth of field, the render times are going to be increased.
What can I do to decrease the render time of this project?
Steps you can take to decrease the render time include:
1. Turning off “Depth of Field” within each camera layer should decrease the render times dramatically. This will remove the soft focus effect, but once rendered without the Depth of Field, you can import the animation back into After Effects and apply the soft focus manually using a mask and the Gaussian Blur effect.
2. If you are using CS4 or CS5 , turn on the “Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously” option within the AE preferences.
I still have questions about the project. Can I contact you directly for more assistance?
Of course! Always feel free to email me at tyson(at)motionrevolver.com if you ever need further help or have questions about one of my projects.
What computer did you create this on, and how long did it take you to render this animation?
The computer I am using is a 6-Core 3.33GHz Mac Pro w/16GB RAM . Rendered in CS5 with “Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously” switched on, the 1280×720 comp rendered in just under 2 hours for me.
When I open the AE project, I’m seeing this message:

This is not an error. After Effects is simply telling you that the file was created using an older version of AE, and you are opening it with a newer version of AE.
Simply click “OK” and save the file with whatever name you choose.
Applies to both Mac and PC.
I am missing files, or am seeing “color bars” in my compositions. What can I do to fix it?
The files you’re missing are located in the “(Footage)” folder, which came inside of the project ZIP file. Simply locate those files, and re-link them inside of After Effects.
If you need further assistance with re-linking footage, please consult the Adobe help site:
