q: Is it easy to use portrait or landscape photos?
a: yes you can use portrait or landscape or combine both type.
q: Can I easily adjust the placement and size of the photos on the pages?
a: yes. every page is one composition. just delete my placeholders, import your images, place them on pages and rotate, scale how you wish. Please check this screenshot http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/4313/pagezp.jpg it was less than half minute job…

yes. in preview you can see 3 pages (2 animated), but there is 6 pages in project, and 3th 4th and 5th page can be easy animated if you copy paste keyframes (rotate) from page2. i just tested that, its fine, but than you need to change camera position (i tested with new static camera), and music.
you can optionally add more pages:
- animate page6
- copy paste one of the pages (composition in project panel, name it page7), add your photos and text…
- place page7* just a little under page6 (in “work” composition), copy paste keyframes, and adjust keyframe position on timeline

• about new (7th) page: you will see that every page contains several layers: 1page, 2page, 3empty page. 2same pages for fake thickness in after effects, and empty page for back of the page, because back need to be empty.
  
  so 6pages can be done easily, but for more pages this project need more customization.
