Thank you very much for purchasing Mar! I don’t own CS6 yet but in Premier CS5 goes like that…

  • Import your two footages and one matte transition
  • Place footage 1 in video 1, footage 2 in video 2 and transition in video 3.
  • For the length of the transition overlap the two footages.
  • In your Effects panel go to -> Keying -> Track Matte Key
  • Apply filter to Footage 2 and in the MATTE Drop Down menu select “video 3”

Your transition is ready to render. Btw you can reverse, opposite, invert, timeremap and mix them to fit it to your needs.

Maybe when i’ll have some time to spare i’ll make a tutorial about it.

Hello. I’m sorry for bothering you, but, how do i proceed to apply one of this MOV files between to timelines on AE CS5 ?

    thank you

    Hello alemdaideia,

In general they work with the track matte. This is located in your timeline panel next to modes. By default is on “None”. Play with the 4 options it gives you (alpha matte, alpha inverted etc) and you will understand how it works.

Nonetheless, check this Link i found on youtube. It’s a tutorial on how to do transitions using Alpha but if you go after 3:40 you will see how this kind of transitions work.

Thank you very much for purchasing my creation… and please don’t forget to rate it in your downloads section.

    Have a nice day! :)

Open them in a editing software like Premiere, Avid, Final Cut, After Effects and they will play just fine.

When you play these transitions in a conventional player that displays Alpha channel as black in your OS, the result seems black. Even then the transitions work.

(i also send you a mail)

    Hi there,

I purchased the transitions today but haven’t been able to get them work with Final Cut. I place my first video on V1 track, second video on V2 and overlap it with V1. Then I place my transition’s mov file on V3 layer just above the overlap between V1 & V2. The transition appears as black. The two images don’t blend. What do I need to do to make it use Alpha channel?

    Thank you!

    Bogz Author

    Hello CSStudio,

What you did is right but needs 2 additional clicks. I will continue from where you stopped. When you place the transition on V3 (as you did) then right click on the transition. Choose composite mode—> traveling alpha or traveling luma. Your transition should work fine now.

Unfortunately i don’t use Final Cut and i had to ask a partner of mine for such an advice. In case this method doesn’t work as you wish, try the help search of Final Cut for “Alpha mate” or “track mate” options. The help search should reveal to you where this options are, so to use them. The main concept of this kind of transitions is that the alpha channel of the video becomes the V1 video and the Black part of the transition becomes the V2 video.

I hope i helped my friend.. if you still have a problem, leave a comment and will find an solution.

    Have a nice day, Bogz

    Thank you Bogz!

I’m afraid your suggested solution did not quite work, but guided me to the solution.

Here’s how it works in Final Cut:

Place your first video on V1. Place your transition on V2, and overlap it with V1, where you want the transition to happen. Finally place your second video on V3, and overlap it with V1 and V2.

The “composite mode” for both your first video (on V1) and the transition (on V2) needs to be “Normal”. However the “composite mode” for your second video (on V3) needs to be “Travel Matte – Alpha”.

    Cheers!!

oh so it’s like a sandwich in Final cut! (joke) :) sounds very similar to premier but with some differentiations.

Thank you very much for finding the right answer and for coming back to share the knowledge. Really appreciated indeed. I will add your answer to the FAQ’s of this item…

I hope you will enjoy the transitions! Have a great day! ~Bogz

I recently bought this pack. Does the steps explained on how to use the transitions using the Track Matte key apply also for Adobe Premiere CS3 since although the transition appears, the two footages do not blend when I use videos, but when I use pictures they seem to be ok. Can you help me please?

Unfortunately i don’t have installed a cs3 version so i found some tutorials that will help you. Btw you read the support tab of this item? it has some usefull information. Anyhow check this tutorial on how you can use alpha mattes on premier. In case that doesn’t work on premier cs3, then check this tutorial on how track mattes are used in cs3. It’s not for transitions but you will get the main idea. If you still have problems send me an email through my videohive profile to find a solution.

Finally I found a solution for my problem. The transitions didn’t blend my footages when I used footages with the extension .mov. But when I converted them to .mp4 files the footages blended perfectly. Thanks for your reply and help :-)

seems weird that it doesn’t blend with mov but it does with mp4. Are your QT codecs are updated? Anyhow, i’m glad that the pack is running. I hope my creation will serve you well. Have a great day! :)

I understand how to do it when it’s white to black but when it’s just black how do you make it work? I am specifically referring to the Rectangles.mov

    Bogz Author

There are three ways to make it work more efficiently. You can either enable the Alpha view on your preview monitor or place an Invert filter/effect on it or place a Fill filter on it. If you still have any questions or problems don’t hesitate to contact me.

Hi, great work! Can you tell me how to add correctly the transitions in After Effets CS6, because the transition between a clip and the other is black and don’t appears instead the second clip… Have you got a tutorial? Thank you

    Bogz

Yeah i think it’s about time for a tutorial. I just made one and it’s still uploading. When it’s finished i will post the link beneath as a new comment and i will also place it in the support tab of this item.

(btw for your problem, the easiest way is to just cut the video after or before the transition -wherever it’s black – and your problem will be fixed)

I wish there was a version of this for the add-ons category where we can make unlimited projects with no license.

    Bogz

Yes i also believe that this product should have a Tools licence. Until this feature will implement i think a good way to bypass it, is to get an Extended licence instead of a Regular.

None the less i think a good way to see this implemented in the near future is to contact envato support with this request. I believe that the buyer’s opinion counts more that an individual designer as myself.

Thank you very much for checking my creation and your well placed input.

    Hi Bogz!

    Great transition pack, good job.

I have a small problem thou, I’m using Avid and with some of the files the Matte Key won’t work. I have the V1 layer as outgoing, the V2 is incoming and the V3 is your effect. But when I play, the picture just shows the white alpha channel and then the black is replaced with the V2 picture.

If I remove “your” Matte Key effect and replace it with the one in Avid your effect turns Gray and White. It results in a picture that’s superimposed when I put on Matte Key from Avid. Some of your effects turn Black and White when you remove the “imported” Matte Key and they work just fine.

If also tried importing with option “ignore alpha” and I still turn up with a Gray and White transition.

Is there some way you can help me with this?

    Bogz

    Hello Kabbenas,

Firstly i have to say that i’ve never used avid so i’m a little bit out of my field but nonetheless there is solution to everything and i’m glad to help you find it.

From what i ‘ve read you have placed the transition just like a common video and that’s probably why they won’t play as supposed to. In all the programs that alpha mattes can be used they need a “special” effect or a blending mode in order the program to recognize the Alpha/Transparency channel and to replace it with your footage/image.

All of the transitions in this package have Alpha channel but also some of them have and a Luma channel. Luma channel means that there are greyscale tones on the whiteness of the transition. That means that you can blend not only the Alpha but also the Luminescence of the transition. This means that from a single transition you can have 2 different results.

Now to the point. Here on the 1:50 min of this video you will find a guide on how you can use these kind of transitions on Avid.

If by any case you won’t find an solution there, do not hesitate to contact me for further assistance.

Thank you very much for choosing my creation and i hope it will serve you well. Also rating is always appreciated.

    Have a great day, Bogz.

    Hi Bogz!

I’ve been editing in Avid for quite some time, unfortunately I don’t use the Matte Key function every day. So it took me some time but I finally found a way for your amazing transitions to work out splendidly.

Thank you for your replay and sorry for bothering you and taking your time with a stupid question I should have known the answer to :)

Again, great work my show looks like a million bucks!
