Hot to Customized Transitions in Premiere Pro CS6 ?? Do you have some good tips…

PS. Very nice.

Bogz

Thank you very much for purchasing Mar! I don’t own CS6 yet but in Premier CS5 goes like that…

  • Import your two footages and one matte transition
  • Place footage 1 in video 1, footage 2 in video 2 and transition in video 3.
  • For the length of the transition overlap the two footages.
  • In your Effects panel go to -> Keying -> Track Matte Key
  • Apply filter to Footage 2 and in the MATTE Drop Down menu select “video 3”

Your transition is ready to render. Btw you can reverse, opposite, invert, timeremap and mix them to fit it to your needs.

Maybe when i’ll have some time to spare i’ll make a tutorial about it.

Hello. I’m sorry for bothering you, but, how do i proceed to apply one of this MOV files between to timelines on AE CS5 ?

    thank you

    Bogz

    Hello alemdaideia,

In general they work with the track matte. This is located in your timeline panel next to modes. By default is on “None”. Play with the 4 options it gives you (alpha matte, alpha inverted etc) and you will understand how it works.

Nonetheless, check this Link i found on youtube. It’s a tutorial on how to do transitions using Alpha but if you go after 3:40 you will see how this kind of transitions work.

Thank you very much for purchasing my creation… and please don’t forget to rate it in your downloads section.

    Have a nice day! :)

Good morning, having great references, I registered on the site VideoHive and bought the pack with 100 transitions with alpha … but when downloading files had a major disappointment, the videos are all with black screen and nothing happens. I’ve used winzip, WinAce and nothing. Please I need help. I await contact

Open them in a editing software like Premiere, Avid, Final Cut, After Effects and they will play just fine.

When you play these transitions in a conventional player that displays Alpha channel as black in your OS, the result seems black. Even then the transitions work.

(i also send you a mail)

    Hi there,

I purchased the transitions today but haven’t been able to get them work with Final Cut. I place my first video on V1 track, second video on V2 and overlap it with V1. Then I place my transition’s mov file on V3 layer just above the overlap between V1 & V2. The transition appears as black. The two images don’t blend. What do I need to do to make it use Alpha channel?

    Thank you!

    Bogz

    Hello CSStudio,

What you did is right but needs 2 additional clicks. I will continue from where you stopped. When you place the transition on V3 (as you did) then right click on the transition. Choose composite mode—> traveling alpha or traveling luma. Your transition should work fine now.

Unfortunately i don’t use Final Cut and i had to ask a partner of mine for such an advice. In case this method doesn’t work as you wish, try the help search of Final Cut for “Alpha mate” or “track mate” options. The help search should reveal to you where this options are, so to use them. The main concept of this kind of transitions is that the alpha channel of the video becomes the V1 video and the Black part of the transition becomes the V2 video.

I hope i helped my friend.. if you still have a problem, leave a comment and will find an solution.

    Have a nice day, Bogz

*also i found this tutorial about this matter on youtube. Check it out, it will help you.

    CSStudio

    Thank you Bogz!

I’m afraid your suggested solution did not quite work, but guided me to the solution.

Here’s how it works in Final Cut:

Place your first video on V1. Place your transition on V2, and overlap it with V1, where you want the transition to happen. Finally place your second video on V3, and overlap it with V1 and V2.

The “composite mode” for both your first video (on V1) and the transition (on V2) needs to be “Normal”. However the “composite mode” for your second video (on V3) needs to be “Travel Matte – Alpha”.

    Cheers!!

oh so it’s like a sandwich in Final cut! (joke) :) sounds very similar to premier but with some differentiations.

Thank you very much for finding the right answer and for coming back to share the knowledge. Really appreciated indeed. I will add your answer to the FAQ’s of this item…

I hope you will enjoy the transitions! Have a great day! ~Bogz
