Windows 7

I have pretty outdated hardware (Single Core 3.0Ghz, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT Graphics Card, 4GB Kingston RAM , and a measly 120GB HDD with a 260GB External HDD ) but I have only recently realized how well Windows 7 works on it. I run Firefox with 15-20 tabs on average, Internet Explorer 8 and Safari if I’m developing, Photoshop CS4 , Dreamweaver CS4 , TweetDeck, Skype, and Winamp—and it all runs perfectly smooth. No hang-ups, no freezing, no lagging; works beautifully, and this is just a Release Candidate version released 4-5 months ago.

Gotta give it credit guys

I was not doggin’ windows 7 i was just saying that for now i will use xp because to me win 7 is not working as well as xp.

As for the MAC users, you know it is a great machine, but then tell me this if the os is so great why do people put windows xp on their macs??

My brother in-law has been a mac freak since pretty much the first imac, so i started teasing him about putting windows on his G5. Of course he had a hard time admitting to the fact that some of the new programs that he like don’t run on macs. Anyways, I like both machines but as i said before if you spend a few grand than might as well spend a few more and get a G5 not an IMac. I mean for 2 grand i can build a pc that will kick any Macs rump in any shape or form.

Also, all the new macs are using intel chips so why is that?

My final thought is that both PC and Mac run nice and smooth and look nice comparing it to the Commodore 64 that i started with. Man, I am old.

Intel macs have been around for a few years now btw… so not that new. And we often run bootcamp or a virtual machine because of gaming, or for one or two specific programs. 99% of the time though I’s super happy running under OsX. If I do need windows, it’ll be XP for the same reasons as veteran windows users will agree.

OK it’s like Meshach stated, this is not a war between PC and a Mac, when I started this thread I simply wanted a discussion on the pros and cons of Windows 7, not how mac or PC was better than one another.

As said before.. using Parallels or Bootcamp, OSX -users can use windows-only software as well as OSX -compatible programs. Oh and for the record, to all you serious people using their awesome docx and xlsx documents and spreadsheets: iWork ‘09
