Why do all product demos have the "Envato" logo in the sample video ?

Helllo,

I’m new here, and have been looking at many member’s sample projects for AE. I notice that every sample footage I see, has a logo for Envato in the sample video that you can preview before you purchase.

Why is this ? Does VideoHive have a rule that this requirement must be filled in order for them to host your project files ?

As a newcomer, I am confused by this. For example, why are artists not putting their usernames onto a video instead of the Envato logo ?

thanks for any info. Hopefully not too stupid of a question :-)

We require that all preview videos be watermarked with a specific file, which is our logo. This is for author protection, and to ensure our previews are not stolen and used. We used to ask for basic watermarking in the early days where authors would also include their name, and had free reign to watermark as they saw fit. But it quickly got messy. Some authors would provide large watermarks that covered a lot of the video and made it hard to watch. While others would provide watermarks so small or transparent that it served no purpose. For these reasons we decided to standardize the watermark.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for the reply and the great explanation. That cleared that right up :-)

I am no longer confused. At first I had no clue that VideoHive was associated with Envato, but then realized that Envato must own VideoHive, but was still confused on the logo thing.

thanks for taking the time to clear this up, hopefully it will be useful for other beginners here,

thank you again,

David.
