Thank to everyone who is interested in.

For my opinion this topic is really useful for everyone.

In the beginning when I looked the works, I saw some one them had high sales from just 1 video and also author had a only 1 work in his/her portfolio. This means, portfolio or followers or to be a new author is not very important as written in this topic important. I am not just focus on my designs, also looking others videos and work.

And you can see this in the Community/Popular items 100+ download for 1 work about 20 days. Some works are really good, but some works is not good enough for this result. Maybe timing maybe thumbnail maybe price.. whatever lets work.

Thanks for all your attention to topic again…

great points… from a top buyer perspective, I’dd add that the key is, to be original and broadcast quality…. lately there’s a lot of so-so projects that can’t compete against the huge library of really outstanding projects that are already here on the site.

truly world-class ones (like danimult’s “new york”) and others that make you go “Wow” are what sells best. there continues to be a lot of “noise” from sub-$15 so so projects that don’t seem to be adding a lot.

I still think it would be a great idea to have a “Videohive Elite” area or sort-category for projects over $20-$25 that are highest quality. I remember Mark/someone had said they were working on expanding search features (eta?) that might address this.

Also maybe a reason for low sales is some of us have already bought hundreds of projects, many still unused, so we have a lot we’ve already bought, to work with. So to spend more money, projects must be VERY unique and Extremely high-quality. Not like a lot of the recent sub-$15 ones, which are cheesy and amateurish, from new authors (sorry, but honest). Let’s raise the bar, search the topsellers here for inspiration to see the quality of what sells the best, and make things at least that good:

http://videohive.net/category/after-effects-project-files/video-displays?sort_by=sales_count&page=1&categories=after-effects-project-files%2Fvideo-displays

and also since there are other template sites out there, you compete against them too, look at their bestselling projects and strive to create ones at least as good as those

Beware of drawing conclusions by looking at the exceptions. Unfortunately, one of the things about Videohive is that the most visible files are the exceptions, rather than the rule.

Thank you graphic4444 these are very inspiring words and examples you have given us. I have only one comment to add.

I have recently been conversing with clients who email me for help/questions. We would have a few emails back and forth where I would ask them what they like and think needs improvement with my templates. I have had to put a lot of time into getting valuable information, but I tell you it is eye opening. I have no clue what the coincidence is, but monday and tuesday this week have been higher in sales for me than a full week usually. Perhaps it is the result of an expanding portfolio, or just of the X factor Felt so brilliantly described.

In any case, it turns out I was so helpful and useful to these people (enabling them to do something otherwise very expensive and complicated) that they insisted on doing what they could to help me get noticed on VH. Their first instinct was to leave positive comments, which is great, but it did NOT occur to them that the star ratings were pretty important. More importantly, even if they wanted to rate a project, the option was NOT in a area that was expected for them and they would have had to search long to complete this task, even after I guided them to the location.

Here is a quote from a client who contacted me:
[...]you should write to envato to put a button in the profile that says RATINGS … on the page of the product… it’s really hidden system!

I know there is a giant list of improvements needed to the site, and this one may not be such a priority, but I agree with this customer and believe there should be a second option to rate on the actual product page. A reminder in the purchase email confirmation could also be effective.

Just a couple of my cents for you guys!

Broadcast quality used to mean a certain technical standard.. to do with quality of camera, generational compression during workflow, color depth and so on.

Many TV stations broadcast any old *@^%$ these days, so the term doesn’t mean much anymore.

Broadcast quality could mean HD, high color depth, low compression at an appropriate broadcast frame rate. But I think Ken’s using it in the sense of high-quality….like stuff you might see on a quality TV channel.
