I’m chiming in as a buyer:

I bought the bundle myself, and now I’m wondering. Do I get to choose 1 site template out of the bundle to use for a client and then I’m done? Is that how the license works? If that’s the case, I paid $30 to choose 1 template of the 5 to use with no support… :chuckle: Another $5 or so and I’d get a template with support. Seems like every time I get one there’s at least a few little questions to ask.

I think other than saving me tons of work on the front end, the support is golden because I can’t figure out how the author’s thought process works. Also, the documentation only goes deep enough to tell you how to get the content in. Sometimes little things are left out. So really what I’m saying is half the value in the money spent on a theme for me is being able to ask a few questions.

Sorry! I’m going to be straight up and honest about this “silly & ridiculous” idea.

First and foremost the bundles are here to attract new customers and is a type of marketing tool where new customers will come to see the “awesome” deal everyones been talking about. The files chosen ofcourse are selected to be part of this “promo” and contain specific mixes of the bundle theme.

It’s a way of bringing customers into the marketplaces not only for the bundle, but for them to actually get to see the other files in the marketplaces which they may also like… etc.

It’s not about getting 90% off a single file (with the bundle) it’s about making volume sales with fixed files in the bundle, this way every author in the bundle makes volume sales which is the ONLY reason why they allow their files to be sold so cheap.

About this coupon where customers can buy any file for 90% off is so ridiculous,

1.) authors wouldn’t sell their files for 90% off because some customer is using a coupon code for their file randomly and the volume wouldn’t stack up at all.

2.) this would probably destroy the marketplaces because everyone will wait until the silly 90% off coupon deal

3.) & then no one would be happy.

4.) countless other faults with this silly idea.

Sorry but if everyone came out with random ideas it would be hard to distinguish the good from the bad.

Just being honest.

When buying the bundle, I think you get one regular license of each file in the pack, not just for one file. Otherwise it just wouldn’t make sense to have a bundle at all…

Hope I’m not mistaken, though.

I really think this is how it operates in bundle because that was how birthday bundle was licensed as well.

I also do not think that the idea of bundles every now and then is the best way to go. ( I would love to have an item in the graphicriver bundle…. but to be fair to all authors… I think those “new kind” of bundles are not very fair)

I like the idea of the birthday bundle but the bundles for every marketplace in my opinion are going to make buyers wait for bundles and stop buying as much as they would normally do.

In my opinion if one wants to attract buyers then Envato could do something like this:

+Bundle as a prize: “Buy 3 items in this month and you could win a bundle of a value of $200”

+Discounts like: “In the month of November if you buy 3 items get your fourth item for free” (some rules would apply)

+Discounts like:” In the month of October: Buy one item from ThemeForest and one from GraphicRiver and get a 10% discount”

+A competition for buyers, something like “Buy a file in the next month and show us what you did with it. The top 3 winners will then get their item paid + $1000” OR “The top 3 winners will then get their item paid + $1000 in marketplace credits “

+Advertising with Authors: Envato could invest in advertising in partnership with authors. Let authors pay half of advertising costs in a certain webpage for a certain amount of time. Envato can put a list online of sites where they would like to advertise the marketplaces and the costs would be 50% Envato, 50% author. The author would be the referrer or the landing page. Something like that.

Those would be my suggestions

I think caution is adviced. Too much bundle concepts / offers only stimulate overall lowering of prices. If it were non-stop then we might as well suggest Envato simply decimate all prices by a factor 10 … or allow each author to set their prices themselves for a 10th of what it should be.

I think bundles should remain something exclusive decided by Envato and something not-predictable nor something to be influenced too much by authors.

- I don’t think it’s a good idea to stimulate buyers to “wait” before purchases.

- And I don’t think that any kind of stimulation towards price-wars would be good for the market.

My rough opinion… Nontheless, I like bundles and promos in itself… but they should be something which doesn’t interfer in the general sales of Envato too much
