I think comments should show the strengths and weaknesses of the work. Otherwise they are meaningless. As you can see you did well or poorly, if everyone always write good comments?

so you want me to go through your work and pinpoint the flaws in the comments page like you did in mine? so you can see if “you did well or poorly”?

Sorry, cant do those kind of things, but you can get an email from me through your profile page with strengths and flaws, and only if you’ll ask for it…

The comments section is first and foremost intended for the BUYERS so that they can ask questions / help before and after the purchase.Hopefully even leave some constructive feedback.

How to close the topic? It just turned into a dirt and a set of rules. Apparently all are satisfied. It’s a pity.

When there is a project which makes an impression on me, I leave a comment, otherwise I don’t. And I think most of authors do the same. (And always did, as I seek over pages of projects here on VH, so I don’t understand what kind of power have comments lost as you say). What is the point of leaving a criticism when it can’t help anyone? Will author update his file because my vision is different than his? Maybe I can give him an advice for future projects, but then the commentary must be written as advice and not as “this is nice but this is really bad”. Criticism may be welcome from a buyer who actually bought an item and wants to share his experience. Or a potential buyer who wants to ask something before purchasing.
That’s how I see things.
(I’m still improving my English, so I’m sorry for any mistakes)

The rules as such, have often been arrived at after much thought and debate. The way comments are left is more of an unspoken consensus. This is a marketplace where authors are in competition with one another for sales. That’s why leaving negative comments about other authors’ work is considered poor form by most people. The place for honest criticism is in the Item Comments forum when authors have specifically asked for feedback.

By the way, please don’t go and leave negative comments on author’s work who happen to disagree with you on the forum. That’s very poor form.

Every day I go to the website and am surprised that publish on the site. Who needs footage of ducks, sunflowers, flowers, horrible projects that do not meet the high demands of the market.
Yeaa.. what to do… stock footage authors maybe a second or third class citizen here….i am touched… sob..sob…

i am very disappointed… demoralized, displeased, sad, feel unwelcome, .... why do envanto put stock footage here in the first place, it should have its own market place. Some people like to put blame to other people when their sale is low… or should we all do the same? should i blame pressmaster, rover5, nadiya, andrevlad etc for having much higher sale and stock numbers that affect my sale? (mine is about 1 sale per day and i am happy with that)... no.. the answer is no, instead i should look at their project and learn.

but who wants duck footage? who wants dropping pills footage? who wants chicken head footage? who wants sunflower footage? the answer is YES … they SOLD , some with EXTENDED LICENSE ..

Not all in the world is about AfterEffect, MotionGraphic and other Computer based video, some people might be looking for a footage of ants crossing the road. yes, some very good people can draw that too using computers nowadays. so this back to the matter of stock footage should not be here.

To create smoke effect by computer is as hard as to take a descent real smoke footage itself, i myself still fail to do it right. to take sunrise and sunset time lapse is a time and energy consuming work, one have to be there before it happen, set the cam to take thousands of photo in a given time, then back to the studio/lab to edit/enhance or what ever…. then after you transfer that file to computer, then only you realized that something went wrong, so the clip is unusable – thousands of shutter counts wasted, time wasted, energy wasted, petrol wasted, hot and warm bed wasted and you have to do it all over again if the skies are with you.. its hard, not just to wake up.. shoot shoot shoot and upload upload upload…

So, everybody should respect other people works.. I always look up at computer based project coz i am not familiar with that, to create a dancing alphabet is wayyyy too hard for me, and i respected people who can sit there and create things like that. Just dont look down at other people’s hard work…you might need that crappy horrible item one day – maybe to create an AE project of crappy/shaky/horrible things… rite? if stock footage is too low classed items, why should envato create that platform for stock footage in the first place. – and again, this is the matter of it shouldnt be here with the rest of computer-based thing

sorry for a long story, and sorry for my bad English, coz English is not my mother’s tounge, but i am still learning it. i am frankly very very disappointed with some writing and harsh words from some authors, but to keep my disappointed feeling away, i will KEEP UPLOADING !!! sorry guys… We are not going to backed off.

TQ..

I personally think stock footage is where it needs to be, and authors whining about their sales should start working instead of putting blame on others, especially those whose templates are not as great as they thing they are…

I smell smoke and i sence a little bit of flame… o.O

As some, before me, said… everyone should do their work as better as they can and only time and buyers can tell. I guess envato is a big company and most likely have a marketing department and a strategy. I think they can “see” when a change must take place to rise the profit of all (envato + authors) as happened a month ago with TF.

Comments are “opinions” of individuals… How can they be critisized? Nothing is perfect in this world. I accept it and move on…

If we want to make a diference and make something better the sure thing is that this can’t happen in a negative atmosphere.

It is said, all the authors here are competitors. Yeah i believe we are but that’s a bad thing? Healthy competition drives us to the next page. Also, except of competitors we are some people around the globe that have same interests on a spesific area of your life. In my opinion that’s powerfull, inspiring and beautiful in the same time.

Have a wonderfull Sunday people!
