The man coming down the chimney is from Bask tradition. Though in that tradition you lit the fire because the “santa” was a bad guy. Though most of the modern day santa tradition including the hat and red coat comes from Coke.

So the red hat part is solved, it was not Jesus who wore it but people after Christianity something like the legend of St Valentino ( we’ll talk about it in Feb ;)) .... these lead us to two different dates, December 5th and 24th.

BTW , what is the date of birth of Jesus ?

I believe that has something to do with the Germans (as in the old German people), something to scare away the winter or something.

the red color come from COLA , the white color comes from coke :D. Why else would he have a white beard?
