Since I’m new here (just started creating projects for VH in November), I was hoping to get some insight from the longer tenured authors.
Obviously, due to the holidays, the 2nd half of December seems to be a bit slower in terms of sales, but I was wondering if sales pick back up in January?
I suppose most of the top authors here don’t see much of a dip throughout the year, but I was wondering if certain months seem to yield a higher volume of sales than others?
Has anyone noticed any sales trends over the course of the years?

@ Mocarg I still sell 1-2-3-4 sales per day but for now it does not stop, I hope it will remain so.

Can’t say I’ve noticed any long term trends, since most trends can be attributed to various projects you upload. There’s just too much noise.
From last year, there is a short dip over Christmas (much shorter than you’d think). Then it’s really business as usual from the very beginning of the new year.
You can notice trends better by looking at the popular authors and popular items charts.
Lately, the trend has been that although the top authors don’t sell particularly more than they have done for the last year and a half or so, that it’s harder to get into the top 20. That means a certain evening out of the field.
The other trend though is that files coming on-line has gone through the roof. As have new authors. The playing field is changing rapidly, certainly as far as the authoring community is concerned. Probably the same with buyers.
I’ve also noticed recently a helluva lot of files come onto the market place that don’t seem to sell at all.

Good point. Hopefully the fine folks at VH will implement the 6-month rule where files are deleted if they do not sell. I actually think it should be 60 or 90 days actually. If a file hasn’t sold within a few weeks, chances are it’s not going to do very well.
As far as trends go, I’m looking forward to collecting more data over the coming months. Seems as though trends are completely author-specific, depending how often you upload new content and how effective you are at promoting your work.

We need more Particle Dust Form Formation Sand Logo Intro’s up in this joint!
But seriously, the biggest gap in sales so far for me was during the summer and seems that December won’t be too HOT either
So whenever there’s holidays / vacation, that’s when the sales will be slower in my experience.

I’ll keep that in mind when reviewing. we do have a “files we do/dont need” post on the help wiki. Before it was video cubes then Optical flares and spinning globes and now it particle reveals i guess.

I don’t have much sales at all but in compare to the other months December started really great and now everything like stopped.
I guess the after the holidays it will come back to normal as last year.
